Napolitano: a Trainwreck in Progress
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano appears to be backing off her claim that some of the 9-11 terrorists came through Canada. Since assuming this role, Napolitano has been a center on controversy, targeting veterans and conservative groups as potential terrorists. According to Lou Dobbs last night, she is about to try to overturn regulations concerning “real ID,” which would benefit “the undocumented.”
This woman is a trainwreck in progress.
If the GOP is smart (duh) and has any courage, it will go after her (and go after her hard).
If you don’t watch Dodds’ nightly newscast, you might want to give it a try (7 PM eastern time on CNN and rebroadcast at 9 PM Eastern on Headline News). Dobbs provides news that no one else (including FNC) has the courage to broadcast.

[1]
What two agencies are the most crucial at this time?
Treasury and DHS –
Zero put two incompetents in charge of both.
Trainwreck — I think she is a ZERO made disaster.
[2]
I am still waiting on my apology for naming me as a potential terrorist. I thought it was wrong to use the word terrorist.
[3]
Judy -
The reeducation camps will be located in the abandoned neighborhoods of Detroit. You’ll love it here in January and February.
[4]
She’s making Janet Reno look masterful by comparison.
[5]
She IS a “trainwreck”…but we are ON that train!
[6]
bc3b –
I was born in the heart of the thumb — I know all about winter in Michigan.
I fully expected Zero and his administration to be a disaster, however I am astonished at the speed with which he is pursuing his leftist agenda. I expect that dissent will soon be outlawed in the name of national security. Sometimes I am heartened when an admitted Democrat and hater of all things Bush or Republican admits that socialism was never what they intended. However, as I live in the land of federal government there are far to many sheeple here. The long time inside the beltway residents have never understood the rest of America. I only hope the America I lived in for so many years still exists.
[7]
phineasgage: “She’s making Janet Reno look masterful by comparison.”
Ah, but Janey Reno was Attorney General…and we have Eric Holder in THAT slot.
In fact, Holder and Napalitano are already working hand-in-glove to
dismantle our Freedoms!
The Left was absolutely apoplectic over Bush’s actions over 8 years…even though 99% of the alleged assaults on our Freedoms were just that: ALLEGED! What ACTUAL Freedoms did we lose with the “Patriot Act”????? Terrorists lost the “freedom” to phone into or out of the United States without being listended to. What else?
Now Napalitano is focusing INWARD…on Conservatives!! And Holder is only too happy to be her bitch on this!
[8]
New AP poll touting Obama’s popularity samples 46% D’s and 28% R’s!
PRAVDA!
[9]
judy: “I am astonished at the speed with which he is pursuing his leftist agenda”
I was at first, but now I believe this is just Obama and his power-mad Leftist mob being VERY savvy!
The American people CAN focus on and fight a number of things at once. But if you exceed that number they lose track of EVERYTHING. They throw their hands up and just focus on one or two things…while everything else blows right past them!
The analogy for this:
I can juggle THREE objects, all day long…and never drop them. If you throw a FOURTH object at me I don’t juggle a little worse, I DROP ALL BUT ONE! (the one in my hand at the time). The Obama Regime is throwing EVERYTHING at the American public all at once. Most folks will find one, or two at most, “objects” to focus on…and let the rest drop!
[10]
artist, do you have the internals? Even though they do it EVERY time, we still need to spread the word.
[11]
The right can go after the trainwreck, but we’re likely to just get another trainwreck.
Let’s see, which prominent Democrats have uphill battles looming and stand a chance to lose their seats in 2010? Dodd, CT and Reid, NV.
:barf:
[12]
This is a man with something to hide.
[13]
Justrand,
You must also consider that most people are not paying attention. However, I still believe that kitchen table issues rule with these folks and it is all about their personal economic interests. Maybe if these folks focus on this one issue we might be able to stop the Obama destruction of the economy.
[14]
Personally, I would not call for the resignation of Napolitano. I prefer that she stays on and make the Obama administration look incompetent. Besides, nobody is listening to the GOP. Their constant calls for heads to roll help Obama look like a victim.
[15]
Just my guess, but I believe that O fast tracked everything in the belief that if he only did 3 things that would be enough to make him a 1 termer. So the mindset is go for ALL of it, its our only chance, we’ll get a lot passed and I will be out in 2012.
‘But I won.’ And that is how he will be remembered.
[16]
Dr.Dog…agreed, EXCEPT that I think a lot of the things they are doing will ENABLE him to have a 2nd term, and a 3rd!
- silence the Right (TalkRadio, FNC, blogs like us, etc)
- get 100% in bed with the media (they used to have one foot off the bed!)…and have that media not just look the other way but PUSH their agenda!
- make people FEARFUL of speaking their minds (don’t just discourage those opposing Obama…but actually label them “Terrorists”!!)
- take control of major industries and banks
- double the number of Union workers by pushing thru Card Check!
- make 12,000,000 new voters by making all the illegals instant citizens!
- make gun ownership nearly impossible!
and much more!
this is the most massive power grab since October 1917. And it IS happening HERE!
[17]
I have another version of what Drdog came up, about Obama’s heavy agenda.
I think he is loading it up with everything he’s got, and just seeing what will end up sticking to the government wall, once he has thrown it.
It’s Obama’s Law of Physics — the more you throw, the greater the possibility of more sticking!
[18]
This blog is really getting it on. I was away for two days and there is no way to catch up on all the threads. I did read the good dr dog’s excellent post, and offer my most sincere congratulations.
As for Napolitano, she is one of many in such a target-rich enviorment relative to calls for resignation. Obama is surrounded by so many mentally-deficient and deranged leftists, it is impossible to choose, but then again, you can’t really miss regardless of the object of the call.
Off-topic. Myrtle Beach is on fire. Please pray for those losing their homes. It’s South Carolina, and Obama won’t care.
[19]
J,
All true. But that is to be offset by the fact that when there is 30% unemployment he will be the one to take the hit. At that rate banks won’t matter as nobody will have money to deposit. Exports will crater thanks to EFCA and Cap and Tax reducing employment even more.
He could possibly be a 2 termer as most of his policies don’t hit till 2012.
By the way you feeling better?
[20]
BTW — I have an “Administrative question” for either Justrand or JustMary:
How are you patroling this site as to who is allowed in or not. I know qs was given the boot. But, have any other left-of-center people from PP (like Pluto or Liberal Chris) tried to apply here?
Sometimes, having astute oppositional discussion can actually sharpen and focus the discourse…so far, most here are in agreement except for some social perspectives.
Just wondering…..
[21]
Out schooling again Mullet?
[22]
DrDog,
I remember all the moonbats were convinced that Bush/Cheney would orchestrate I recall a moonbat conspiracy theory that Bush/Cheney would orchestrate a coup and stay in office even if they lost in 2004 or after 2008. Thankfully, this was just moonbat GOP as the boogie man/monster under the bed blathering. However, after watching what Obama has done these last 90 plus days I fully expect a 2012 October surprise disaster in which Zero declares a national emergency and suspension of the election. Afterwards I expect that he will take a run at overturning the 22nd Amendment. By 2016 a sufficient number of the 20 million amnesty winners will be citizens (after requirements are waived) and the permanent underclass of government dependent ne’er-do-wells will represent a solid 60% of the voting public. At that point the current 41% who pay no federal income tax and the 48% who feel their federal taxes are about right will jump into the 70% range.
So pardon me while I adjust my new tin-foil hat and crawl under the bed. The monster that was lurking under there has broken free and is now living in the White House.
[23]
Judy
Anything is possible. But, while it may be naive to underthink the possibilites, I wonder how useful it is to overthink them, too.
Obama is certainly a puzzling man. Little is really known about him. And, now he is trying to install, what amounts to, an entirely new hard drive on the landscape of America, as most of us know it.
But, I don’t think “fear” is the right emotion to cultivate, in order to counter it. Being knowledgable, trying to find a larger consensus with people who are also troubled by Obama (like the tea party movement) are ways to overcome his agenda — know what’s happening, and increase our numbers!
[24]
jan,
If you insist I’ll play the liberal moonbat when necessary. I am well versed in arguing in favor of positions and ideology contrary to my personal opinions and values. If BJG lets in Pluto as a regular poster I’ll have to leave. Being exposed to a grey matter vacumn for longer than 30 seconds is perilous.
[25]
Judy,
It would be a neat trick –
He would be compelled to get Congress to agree to a bill suspending elections. I doubt enough of the blue dogs would have the stomach for it. At that point it is civil war. I’ll even give you the names of the factions involved — Federalists vs Obamists.
[26]
Judy, by the way don’t hide, arm.
[27]
Judy
Inquiring minds like to know what certain policies are.
Unfortunately our country has a fair share of “moonbats,” don’t you think? Otherwise we would not be in our current predicament. It’s always wise to know how these people are processing the same information that gives us so much concern, because maybe, just maybe, some kind of strategic antidote can be derived from such “intellectual autopsies.”
[28]
‘Obama is certainly a puzzling man. Little is really known about him’
Comment by janzam
I could not disagree more. He’s not puzzling at all, he’s quite simple. He is a cheap marxist thug. And we know plenty about him.
We knew all we needed to before the election, including the long history of leftist radicals that he has associated with. There was nothing mysterious about who he was or what he would do.
The complete bag job by the cheerleading MSM and the apathy and ignorance of the electorate, along with the complete incompetence of Bush, McCain and the rest of the GOP, has put us in the situation where we are now.
Justrand’s analogy to October 1917 is completely accurate.
[29]
Here’s a huge series that Dan McLaughlin did last October:
POLITICS: The Integrity Gap, Part II of III: Sen. Barack Obama
It’s the mother lode of links.
He’s also a narcissist. I have some links somewhere about that. More later when I can hunt them up.
[30]
Well, it would help if I actually filled in the info and closed the tags!
POLITICS: The Integrity Gap, Part II of III: Sen. Barack Obama
[31]
Here’s an article on narcissism:
Dr. Sanity: HOPING FOR CHANGE? CHANGE THE SUBJECT !
Last year, long before the election, because of a temporary situation in which I found myself, I started doing some reading about narcissism written by professionals for laymen. It was an eye opener and I found considerable application in the political world.

Being exposed to a grey matter VACUMN for longer than 30 seconds is perilous.

Correctamundo and the first thing to go is your spelling.
[33]
Hyperbole Jan, hyperbole, at least as far as the tin-foil hat and crawling under the bed.
At some point you have to look at all of the pieces to the puzzle and understand what the picture will look like when it is all connected. Putting together a puzzle is the task at hand. There are various methodologies for approaching this task. Some people like to constantly refer to the picture on the box while others rarely look. Some people divide up all the similar pieces, others look for the edges and connect the frame.
I happen to be an expert/genius at putting together jigsaw puzzles. I just have the ability to look at a tiny piece and know exactly what it is and how it fits to the total picture. Even sky doesn’t confound me for very long.
The trouble before us is that so many are confused as to what picture is being put together. They were told it was one thing but as the pieces are being turnover and sorted out it appears that the picture on the box and the pieces are not matching up. However, the hopeful are continuing to plug with their small piece thinking the picture when put together will be a sunrise over the mountains with an idyllic peaceful valley village below.
I’m looking at the pieces and see the 9th level of Dante’s Inferno coming our way.
[34]
Thanks IP, but nope. On that one I’m just a bad typist.
[35]
In The Audacity of Hope, Obama wrote: “I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views.”
That was the problem. Too many people imagined their views, their dreams, their hopes and projected them onto Obama’s deceptive rhetoric and voted for a candidate of their own imagination.
Now people have to sort through the pieces and figure out which ones are real and which are illusive. Some have already woken up with a start and others are still confused.

New avatar for rand the just until he recovers
[37]
janzam…I would be glad to have Pluto or Liberal Chris from Poli come over, and Paul Hoosan (et al) from Wizbang comment here as well.
They are welcome so long as they advance the discussion (more or less).
I truly LOVE and we truly NEED to read, consider and debate multiple viewpoints!
I recently had the following exchange with a Leftist friend of mine (in the Bay Area they pretty much ALL are)-
Me: “How often to do you reconsider any or all of your views on life and its various issues?”
Him: “Reconsider?”
Me: “Yes, do you ever consider and/or reconsider that your views may need tweaking…or be dead wrong?”
Him: “No! Why should I? Do you?”
Me: “All the time! Sometimes in response to a question or debate, on-line or in conversation. And sometimes just to satisfy MYSELF that I am not blindly believeing or thinking something I cannot explain and/or defend!”
True story, folks, I do this all the time! Like fencing, I suppose. If you figure you may wind up a duel sooner or later, it certainly behooves you to PRACTICE! And it behoves you to examine your technique to ensure it is sound!
So I welcome Leftist folks, if they are able to “duel” intelligently. Acroso, sadly, showed Itself not to be able to.
[38]
Justrand,
Do the arguments with the voices in my head count as reconsideration?
[39]
ip727…thx, I think?!?
the ice and pharmaceutical concoctions are helping…as is the Jimmy Hendrix soundtrack playing in my head:
Purple haze all in my brain
Lately things just dont seem the same

Excellent link…
Now I read this
And immediately flashed to the victim/bully battles we’ve witnessed lately.
However, it was this passage
That fuels the image of Obama staging a national security crisis coup to remain in office.

“Bio freeze” seems to help sore spots. You have to find it online.
[43]
Phin,
I agree we knew what Obama is before the election — but at some point after November I tired to put on the rose colored glasses and wish that Obama was not what I saw him to be. (Even if I had extra food, gasoline, and money stashed away)

Slavomir Rawicz
[45]
sorry wrong browser
[46]
Since Justrand and Jan want a lively debate, here is a different take on how to handle Obama:
Obama Derangement Syndrome
[47]
Pluto is useless, I think
Liberal Chris has a few functioning brain cells
Liberal Roman is tolerable at times
Hoosen, why not?
Zachriel…???
And where is Evil Cornbread…???
[48]
Where Merle??
[49]
Although, I find Obama a nacissist. A Marxist. Attacking him personally will not advance our cause, I believe. Exit polls show that 44% of the voters considered themselves “moderate”. Obama won 60% of the moderate vote and, thus, won the presidency. We need the moderate vote to win. How do you attract moderates?
Moderate are the people who will go for “whatever works”. They hate bickering and confrontation. They only way we will win them is if 1) present a coherent agenda that deals with issues they care about, i.e. economy, healthcare and education; 2) no attacking of Obama personally; 3) present the case in a thoughtful, competent manner i.e. drop the stridency.
[50]
David Horowitz on ODS discussed and answered: Here and here.
I’ll stick with Mark Steyn.
[51]
I agree with Steyn but Horowitz’ tack makes more sense if you are trying to attract the “moderates”. We need to get out of this box that we have created were we just reinforce our opinions. It feels good, I admit it; but, it is not helping at the ballor box.
[52]
I franly think that HotAir is destructive for the conservative movement. Except for a few times when they do expose’, the whole site is nothing but red meat to the partisans. I think it has contributed to the dumbing down of the conservative movement. We need “Firing Line” more than HotAir.
[53]
o/t and
tear worthy
[54]
I read that, Judy. Very moving.
[55]
The deed is already done. The time for convincing is over.
This is the time of preparation–to prepare for the possible coming mother of all storms, and to prepare for the reemergence of conservatism.
The people that voted for the marxist will have to be convinced by that hardest taskmaster of all–experience.

Not surprising–the female brain is more adept at visuo-spatial skills, facial recognition, etc.
The male brain is better at mathematical reasoning and analysis.
And….other things–I’ll let RWY handle that.

Slavomir Rawicz~~” The long walk”. Interesting story, but of doubtful veracity. He is lucky as a pole that he didn’t wind up in the katyn forest with a 9mm in the back of his head like 5000 of his polish compatriots did.
[59]
chekote: “Let’s not duplicate the manias of the Left as we figure out how to deal with Mr. Obama. He is not exactly the anti-Christ, although a disturbing number of people on the Right are convinced he is.”
I will put up a thread on this topic…it is worth its own thread.
[60]
IP, I got through about 3/4s of it until I started to research the maps of his actual trek. I was enjoying the book until I stumbled upon the numerous websites debunking the story.
The unbelievers (TASS, BBC mainly) have pointed out many inconsistencies, but then again they are TASS and BBC. I give him the benefit of being truthful because I am part Polish.

“Where Merle??”
—
I miss Merle Adams as well, I hope all is well with him, he had a real ability to put things in context and end on an uplifting note in nearly every one of his posts. It’s a shame the archives now seem to be gone as nearly everyone of his posts were a gem in my humble opinion.
[62]
Yeah, I wish I had saved those. They were terrific.
[63]
KH — I agree Merle’s posts were always a must read for me. Usually with a cup of coffee and then considerable time for Justrand’s suggested moments to pause and reflect.
[64]
It was suggested that there should be “no attacking of Obama personally”
However, wasn’t the man with the thinnest resume in modern history, hidden college records, and sparse explanation of personal history elected purely upon his personality?
Wasn’t Obama’s charisma and personal traits constantly touted by his supporters and MSM as the raison d’être for his election?
Isn’t Obama’s current popularity based mainly upon his personality and not his policies? pick one (I loathe linking to MSNBC and unknown blogs.)
[65]
Merle, where are you?
Check in to BJG and say hello…!!!
[66]
Oops I failed to turn of the italics
[67]
I have saved some of Merle’s posts (somewhere), and we email each other from time to time. He probably doesn’t know about this site, so I will email a link to him. He definitely is a wise person who seems to see the glass as half full rather than the opposite POV — something I have always found to be very attractive.
[68]
Jan, that would be great.
Merle was always good at taking the news, shaking it out and then giving encouragement.
[69]
Merle would be a great addition to the BJG mix.
