Powell To Answer “Right Wing” Critics on TV Tomorrow

2009 May 23
by bc3b

The Washington Post writes:

The appearance will come just days after Powell, one of the country’s leading black political figures, told an audience in Boston that a new Republican Party is “waiting to emerge.” Earlier this month, he said the party is in “deep trouble” because “Americans are looking for more government in their life, not less.”

Here’s the entire article.

He claims Americans want more government and John McCain wasn’t liberal enough? Well, maybe McCain was, but when someone with real consevrative values joined the ticket, it was too much for old Colin.

I can’t wait to learn more about this new Republican Party that is “waiting to emerge.” I hope Powell, David Frum, David Brooks, Meghan McCain, Peggy Noonan and Kathleen Parker will be happy together.

I honestly can’t imagine what Powell is thinking. If Americans want the government running their lives and confiscating their incomes, they already have a political party to vote for.

This is the progressive wing of the R party basically saying “if we join the Dems, there are not enough of you to stop us”.

Guess what, he is right. There are not enough conservatives to stop the dems, if the liberal Rs join them. At least, not enough to stop them at the ballot box.

Back in the Gingrich years, I used to wonder if or when this would happen. Seems like the R party was more at peace with itself as a minority, happily going along with the Dems.

You look back at the “me-too Republicans” from the FDR years and you think, “surely the Rs have figured it out by now, there is more than enough electoral evidence that Reaganism is what brings victory to the R party, while Bush/McCainism always brings defeat in time.

If you look at the voter registration, there are now more Is than Rs or Ds.

Rs are going to be in third place out of 3. When will Powell learn?

That may be his game plan.

    Knighthawk …

I used to admire him. And now all I can say is, how can someone that smart be that dumb?

Scary to think that he probably could have had the Republican nomination several times. And he would have been as adept as Zero in hiding what he really thought.

“Scary to think that he probably could have had the Republican nomination several times”

I don’t think so actually, well maybe in like 1996, he could have tried in 2000 but I doubt he would have won because his liberalism would have shone right through even more so than other who did run. This guys lecturing us on the GOP, what following or constituency does this guy have?

The third man married a girl from Texas.. He ordered her to keep the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot meals on the table for every meal. He said the first day he didn’t see anything, the second day he didn’t see anything but by the third day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he could fix himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher.

You better not mess with Texas women….

Powell: “Americans are looking for more government in their life, not less.”

Yup, I am sooooo tired of:
    - thinking for myself
    - wondering how much harder I should work to provide free stuff for people who don’t work
    - trying to figure out if I’m worthy of having medical care
    - being all secretive in the voting booth
    - speaking my mind

I sure hope the Government can eliminate all those icky aspects of my life! Thanks, Colin…you eff’ing moron!

Actually, as long as 51% of the sheeple can vote to strip the OTHER 49% of everything they have, they WILL want “more government”.

Hell…someone ELSE is paying for it…why not have MORE things that OTHER people pay for???

When you look at it that way I guess Colin is right!!

Yes, just wait until amnesty is done….with the blessing of John and Lucy. More people dependent on government than not. All the young’uns conditioned to hate capitalism and their country. It’s a perfect storm for the Lucifer/Stalin crowd. I still win, I have my religion, and I also have a gun (but no ammo, drat).

I have not been a Powell fan since Desert Storm.

Shwartzkopf was on the phone with Powell-who was reportedly using the extension on the wall opposite of the desk in the Oval Office. The “Higjhway of death” pics were apparently freaking out the PR guys, so Powell was against continuing the war.

All I know, Schwartzkopf hung up and thought we had 12 more hours than we did.

Powell hung up and told the President we could end it now.

Saddam survived Desert Storm because Powell stopped the war. 6 more hours, the road from Baghdad to Basra would have been cut. Saddam likely would have fallen.

Powell is and has been always a Politician.
