Jenny Sanford Is the Hero

2009 June 30
by bc3b

“Jenny is the hero in this story,” said Cyndi Mosteller, a longtime friend and a prominent Republican operative here. “She’s the hero to her children, and I think she’s the hero to this state. In the midst of this tragedy, she is standing strong to who she is and what she believes in. . . . I think Jenny has not had these types of ambitions, but I think every woman in South Carolina would vote for Jenny Sanford for governor right now.”

For Mark Sanford to move South Carolina past a sex scandal that gripped the nation and embarrassed his state last week, family friends here said, he may need help from his wife, who has long been his chief political strategist.

Here is a woman who made the decision to stand her ground against a cheating politican husband (rather than standing by his side and looking like the village idiot). “Gee Jenny, I’d like to be President. Maybe you can help me even though I am sleeping with my Argentine hottie.”

Mark, you dumb a$$, you didn’t know when you had it good. You’re a liar and a cheat, so do the honorable thing: resign and just go away. You’re an embarassment to your family, your state, your party and the conservative movement. Your political future doesn’t exist.

A hero and a zero: there’s something about strong, conservative (and, yes, Jenny is attractive) women.

Since people want to talk about the Sanfords, I have been holding this.

The wife of former Congressman Mahoney (the guy who took Mark Foley’s place) was the first “wronged wife” not to “stand by her man.” In fact, she divorced his worthless a$$. I am glad to see that Jenny Sanford followed her lead.

Indeed, if you read the article above, it appears that Jenny was indeed the driving force. She’s smart, attractive, a devoted mother and filthy rich. To leave someone like her, you must have rocks in your head.

What Sanford did was pure idiocy. He lied to his family, his staff and the citizens of his state and left the citizens without a leader should an emergency have occurred.

The smartest thing he can do is resign.

BC, this not directed at you.

I’ll tell you what I am tired of two things in the political sphere. 1) The village idiot wife syndrome as BC alludes. So passe’ and demeans her in unfathomable ways. 2) The faux victim wife cloaked in the feminist mystique.

Clearly I state Mrs. Sanford was wronged. Deeply so. No argument. But in the same instant she can’t be the victim (2) when –

    * She holds the wealth.
    * The courts would be on her side in any settlement.
    * Maintains sway in the court of public opinion.
    * Is the brains of the pair.

Sorry that is not a victim. That’s an error. More like the defensive coordinator missing the deep pass option of the opponent and getting burned by it. That’s why the first blockquote above rubs me the wrong way.

It will be interesting to see if his wife gets involved in politics. She obviously has coming out of this looking strong.

Chekote is trying to determine her stance on abortion before determining ig she should love or hate Jenny.

I don’t view her as a victim, but rather as a strong woman who may well be evolving into another stage in her life.

You probably never noticed, but I have a soft spot in my heart for strong, conservative women.

“Chekote is trying to determine her stance on abortion before determining ig she should love or hate Jenny.”

Actually she called for Jenny to run for governor @ HHR this morning, showing once again her ‘flexibility’. :) One day he should stay and jenny is crying wolf, the next he should go and his wife should run for the seat. Apparently Sanford’s terrible interviews of late have changed her view, reminds me of another politician so maybe there is at least some consistency in that.

Sometimes as facts on the ground change, you have to make adjustments. Since announcing my support for Mark, he has given interviews comparing himself to Jimmy Stewart in “Its a Wonderful Life”. Then he suggested that it is God’s plan for him to stay in office. Finally, he admitted he has been screwing around with Maria a lot more than initially disclosed. While Jenny had a rocky start with me. I appreciated the fact that she WAS NOT standing next to her husband during his “Confession” press conference. I didn’t care for her initial statement. But since then, the woman has been right on target. She needs to dump him and run for office herself. Jenny for Governor!

I wasn’t going to bring up Runners World. So for the record. I WAS NOT THE ONE BRINGING UP SARAH PALIN.

“I used to joke around with John McCain during the campaign about coming jogging with me. – Sarah Palin

I guess telling a wounded vet who can barely raise his arms to go jogging is funny in Sarah’s book.

“I feel so crappy if I go more than a few days without running. I have to run. No matter how rotten I feel before or during a run, it’s always worth it to me afterwards. Sweat is my sanity.” – Sarah Palin

This quote is downright Churchillian in its eloquence.

It will stay news as long as Mark Sanford keeps talking about it. He reminds me og the Dion and the Belmonts song “Teenager in Love.”

You must live one miserable existance if the main goal in your life is digging up ways to smear Sarah Palin.

McCain may be slow and old but last I checked his legs worked pretty good, don’t see the real insult in asking him to go jogging.

I made my points in the previous comments and in the previous sentenc prior to mentioning Trig. The Trig comment was filler. It was used to show your views on anybody that isn’t as healthy as you think they should be should’t be exercizing in the first place and might as well just waste away.

Chekote quotes from a week ago regarding Jenny Sanford. She’s sure flip-flopped, hasn’t she? Was she off her meds last week or is she off them today?

“The wife released the e-mails. She is another Donna Hanover. She is going for everything he is worth. Mark my words.”

“The marriage was obviously on the rocks. Let them resolve it although I could have done without the “victim” statement from the wife and the crying. Why do men cry so much these days? It is really annoying.”

“I would like to start by saying I love my husband and I believe I have put forth every effort possible to be the best wife I can be during our almost twenty years of marriage.

A little self serving for my taste.”

I do reassess the situation as new facts come out. Sanford has made a total fool of himself this week. Instead Jenny is handling things very well. I do try to recognize when my intial assessment was wrong. Unlike some people who keep holding on to the same image despite facts pointing to the contrary.

If people are faced with terminal illnesses and are old, what’s the point? If they want to die. Let them. I also happen to thing that Michael Jackson is better off dead. The man was completely miserable and screwed up. At least now he has some peace, I hope.

If you remember, Janzam commented on how rough you were on Jenny Sanford.

Were you were a man, you’d fit right in with the Taliban. “Oh gee, I didn’t realize the woman we just stoned to death really wasn’t really raped. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.”
