JustMary, did you see the photo early this morning of Ahmedinjad on Drudge? Did you see the kid with him? I didn’t read the story, but was that his kid? If so, and if he’s being taught to hate by his father, we could be looking at the future face of terror.

Horrible that I would even think of that of any child.

Anyway, I’m wondering if he will be taught diversity.

the “it’s gonna be close” nonsense was just that. AhmaNutJob was ALWAYS going to win!

Israel’s gotta whack Iran hard…and soon. Otherwise the test-site for the Iranian nuclear missile is gonna be Tel Aviv.

I honestly believe that two speeches have either already been written…are are still being worked on:
Speech 1 – Leg-tingling heart-wrenching speech lamenting the death of 5 million+ Jews…while reminding the world they kinda had it coming.

Speech 2 – Declaring Israel a rogue State for daring to attack the peace-loving Iranians…and vowing to side with the Arabs to see “Justice” is done

Obama prefers Speech #1…but Speech #2 gives him some good camera time too!

For years I have been hearing reports about the Iranian people being at oddd with their government. Being pro-America. After this result, I just don’t buy it. More bad intelligence.

I’m still a fan, but there’s a fine line between being transparent and being overexposed. Every time you turn on the TV, there’s Obama. He’s getting a puppy! He’s eating a cheeseburger with Joe Biden! He’s taking the wife to Broadway and Paris — this is the best season of “The Bachelor” yet!

I’m the one who should be on suicide watch. A layup in game 2 and a free throw in game 4 and the Magic would be up 3-1 on the Lakers. Fundamentals, Magic, hello?

Oh well, better luck next year. They’ve played like this all year, and it finally caught up with them.

    Suicide watch. Interesting.

Sometimes I think that we are too obsessed with politics and culture. I’ve never made a survey, but I would bet that not 10% of the people I come into contact with daily are as knowledgeable politically as the commenters here. They go about their lives with little thought on what is going on in DC. They are not on suicide watch, and will in the end suffer the same outcome as us if Obama destroys the country.

Maybe they just don’t want to see it coming.

Lakers fumbled it in the 3rd game, second half. You never know when your luck will turn and you just can’t make a basket, if your life depended on it.

Of course being from Los Angeles, we are for the Lakers over here. Not much else going good for us in California, these days.

Interesting and philosophical thoughts about who is and who isn’t engaged in politics.

I think you are right about a great majority of people just opting out in following what is going on. It’s probably less intense that way!

    Jan,

As I was writing, I was thinking about a race car driver I once knew. One Saturday night, he was in a horrendous accident, hit the outside wall hard, and flipped several times landing on his roof, and hanging upside down in his belts. A “barney fife” rescue worker reached him first, unbuckled him dropping him on his head. Barney then strapped him to a gurney, shoved him into the ambulance that was parked up the incline of the track, and failed to lock down the wheels of the gurney. When the ambulance took off, the gurney came out the back of the ambulance, and rolled across the track to crash into the inside retaining wall of the racetrack. The victim was unconscious when reloaded into the ambulance, and Barney took off to the hospital at breakneck speed. My friend came to with G-forces swinging him back and forth across the ambulance as Barney swerved through traffic to get him to the emergency room.

Like a BJG commenter, my friend busted out of the gurney, climbed into the passenger seat of the ambulance beside the surprised Barney. Asked why he wasn’t on the gurney, he replied, “If you are going to kill me, you SOB, I want to see it coming.”

    True story.

Even the Stanley Cup doesn’t want to come3 to Detroit.

Tigers are in first place in one of the worst divisions in baseball: Twins, Royals, Indians and White Sux. My plan to move the Lions to LA (so we could get an expansion team) didn’t work. No one in Detroit gets excited about the NBA until the finals. Besides the NBA is more crooked than the WWE.

There is no way the NBA will let Orlando beat the Lakers. Ever notice how with 5 minutes to go the team that was getting blown out is suddenly back in the game? It doesn’t happen in baseball, football, hockey or college basketball.

Soccer games are close, but the average professional soccer team only scores one goal in every six games.

bc – not only that, he turned down a BOATLOAD of cash offered by the Penguins in the off-season to go to Detroit “to win a Cup.” I am very old-school and have a hard time with free-agency as it makes it hard to be a fan of a single player anymore. In Hossa’s case my response is, “couldn’t happen to a nicer turncoat.”

One thing about hockey is that after the strike they instituted a salary cap, so everyone except Phoenix and Toronto have a chance to win. Phoenix because they still can’t afford players and Toronto because the management is so screwed up.

The Pens deserved to win. They wanted it more.

The thing I hate about free agency is when a player goes to a team’s #1 rival for the money (Johnny Damen going from the Red Sox to the Yankees, Lee Smith (long ago) going from the Cubs to the Cards, etc.

You know how Detroit is – Detroit wins, the city burns, Detroit loses, the city burns. Regardless, Detroit burns. Might actually help in the beautification of the city.

The people that burn the city down don’t follow hockey (if you get my drift).

If they only had sports that Detroiters are good at – stealing cars, mugging senior citizens, robbing convenience stores, etc. we could be the city of champions.

The bad thing that was sad last year was the Lions went 0-16 (something that no NFL team ever had done). There was nothing to commemorate it: no parade, no championship T-shirts on sweat shirts, no monuments. No pride.

It’s sad when a team breaks records and there’s so much apathy. Sad.

BCL – saw the article and it makes some sense. Never understood Urban Redevelopment, it always seemed to be a band aid approach to leprosy. Why fix up a few places in the middle of urban decay. Made more sense to level a 5 or 10 square block area and build from the ground up.

I was just going through my iPhone pics and saw one I took at the NRA Convention Exhibit Hall. It is a picture of a display which had guns and weapons used in TV and movies. It was so damn cool.

It had dirty Harry’s pistol, John Wayne’s guns and holsters, lots of different movies and shows represented and it explained how they were modified or converted from one gun to look like something else.

I took a picture of The Rifleman’s rifle which had that big lever. I always loved that show and that gun. The display had a drawing of the manner the gun was made to shoot when the lever was worked. It had a set screw in the lever that tripped the trigger. Pretty simple.

They said Chuck Connors got so good he could shoot rounds off really fast. Of course he always shot blanks. Don’t know how to post a picture here unless I emailed it to JustRand or JustMary.

Great theme song to The Rifleman, all instrumental: dum duuum, dum-de-dum, dum… I often think that many of us are too obsessed with politics. But when the oppo is in charge and trying to destroy the greatest human experiment in democracy and freedom, drastic steps are probably warranted. My back up plan really ought to be my primary strategy: pray harder.
