“He was guilty of nothing, except that he earned his own fortune and never forgot that it was his.“ The concept contained within that phrase is what has set America apart, and made her the greatest nation on Earth. And it is the systematic attack on that concept, that this website is dedicated to fighting. This website is NOT devoted to making people “wealthy”, but rather to fighting the notion that the “wealth” they DO have needs to be “redistributed”.
To be true to this thread, this post does relate to “telling the truth.” However, the truth it references is a fictional speech Sanford might have given at that unfortunate press conference.
“I come before you in what is clearly a predicament, but without, I hope any pretense. There’s no pretense in having an affair — affairs are real, very compellingly so. There are lies, yes — to one’s wife and family and staff — but that’s a different story. And while I’m on the subject, let me say the only apology I plan to offer in public is to the members of my staff I left in confusion about my whereabouts with nonsense about hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
What “our” government is doing with “cap & tax” is just another nail in the economy of our formerly great republic. We are fast on the road to being a banana republic. I cannot express in words the disgust that I feel for those so-called leaders in our Congress…..what a complete bunch of buffoons.

Via credible source on Twitter: BULLETIN — REPORT: PRESIDENT OBAMA PREPARING EXECUTIVE ORDER TO ALLOW INDEFINITE DETENTION WITHOUT TRIAL OF TERROR SUSPECTS.
The republican party has long since sold their souls to the devil for power….I am a republican in registration only so that I can vote in the primaries…this group does not represent me….and have not in years….
Cap & Tax may not be the final nail in the coffin….but it has sealed our fate none the less…we are done….it is time to go John Galt and let it burn down….
I will post the names and contact info for the 8 turncoat Republicans as soon as possible. “Turncoat”, btw, not against the Party…but against America.
Nancy Pelosi’s parting comment before the vote started was ironic as hell:
“I want to sum up in four words what this will mean: Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs…let’s vote for JOBS!”
She’s correct, of course. The estimate is that this will COST America 2+ MILLION jobs per year.
I wonder if even the media will be able to cover up what this will TRULY mean for America. Any manufacturing plant that can possibly relocate elsewhere would be foolish NOT to. And the average American total energy bill will increase by upwards of $3,000 per year.
When unemployment hits the high TEENS, and Americans stop purchasing ANYTHING beyond the barest essentials…maybe THEN Michael Jackson’s death will drop off the national radar!
Look, I’m not stupid, I’ll take a vote where I can get it. But these Scumocrat bills are so horrible there ought to be no question how the GOP votes, every damn one of them.
This thing is dead in the Senate….for now…..and soon the fact that Australia and New Zealand are dropping or revisiting their versions of this stupidity will get out….and more people will read about what a great success this approach has been for Spain.
I agree any R that voted for this should be shunned, but they had 31 Dems that got ‘permission’ from the Queen to vote no…..but that number would have been 22 if all our guys had voted no.
This vote was to appease their base. Health Care is the one they really want to ram down our throats right now. Then Amnesty.
It’s remarkable how blind some people are to this issue; I have had conversations with several money managers where I have tried to explain the devastating effects of this bill and they have virtually laughed in my face
I intend to do both. I will work to defeat all 8…even if that means contributing to a Democrat to do it. I intend to indicate that in both my voice and emails.
“It sure does suck that our 8 could have stopped it, however…that’s what I’m pissed about.”
—
Yup, and even if piggy had the vote on her side to switch we should have forced her hand forcing 8 so called “blue dogs” to stick their necks out further. It’s dead in the Senate for now but you never know, but it does highlight 8 more assholes in the GOP that think voting for economic disaster is cool.
Let me get this straight these 8 could vote against porkulous but not this???
Pathetic.
I don’t mind RINOs being squishy on some topics. But THIS is literally slitting the throat of America. I find ZERO wiggle room for this.
The only reason Americans aren’t hitting the streets with pitchforks is that the media found a convenient way to ignore the whole thing via Michael Jackson’s death. But they would have found some OTHER excuse anyway.
IF this passes the Senate, then Americans will finally see $6.00+ gasoline…and home heating/cooling bills that are DOUBLE what they are today.
I’m sick and tired of this “purge the RINO’s” crap.
Your precious RINOs just voted to destroy your future job and millions of others. They voted to tax your energy use in perpetuity, making your life and the lives of your children more difficult.
You keep wondering why you get knocked down and you can’t figure out where the punches are coming from.
Boy, wake the **** up. You’re old enough to figure this crap out.
So much for that $500 a month Hubby and I found out we are saving on our credit card/car payment as of today. Here you go, Obama….you know better than us what to do with that money anyway.
Why do you keep saying this? They have already said they are bringing it up, once the votes are found. Just like on cap and trade, they merely have to offer enough sweeteners to the swing Dems.
2 weeks ago people were saying cap and trade was dead. What just passed a half hour ago again?
Sorry, but these are mostly DEM leaning districts, you will get a Democrat if you primary from the right.
And what party did they just vote with on cap and trade again? One of 3 economic disaster bills that they are going to be voting on this summer, along with amnesty and health care?
Because the bill is dead anyway moron. It’s going nowhere in the senate.
It’s guaranteed to pass. A matter of pressure, and negotiation. It is absolutely guaranteed to pass.
How absolutely comically naive you are. Tell me, do you remember the Obama emails going out to the campaign to remind them they would be needed to pressure reluctant legislators when the agenda came up for votes?
And if it passes, and energy bills go up, it will help us politically anyway. It’s win-win for us either way.
This kind of logic reminds me of you rwy, when you were dissing McCain, saying it would be better for the dims to win (Obama), annihilating the country in such a way that the conservatives would come back strong in 2012.
Your strategical thinking very similar to Brandon’s!
The science is going lower, more than it went higher before.
Time there was reason and progress, but that cup soon runneth no more.
Though we could not caution all, we still might warn a few:
Dont lend your hand to raise no flag atop no Ship of Fools.
Ship of Fools on a intellectually empty sea
Ship of Fools sail away from we.
It was later than we thought, when we still might have had some belief in you,
Now we can no longer tolerate your fumbling insanity, Ship of Fools.
LoBiondo is Brandon’s congressman. I am vacationing in his district and some group called Republicans for Environmental Protection has been running a lot of commercials on FNC. After checking out LoBiondo’s voting record, I mentioned to Brandon that he sure looked like a RINO. Brandon assured me that he wasn’t a RINO. It looks like LoBiondo.
No offense Brandon, but I don’t believe you could spot a RINO if he/she was naked, painted purple and had David Frum and Chekote riding him bareback.
This kind of logic reminds me of you rwy, when you were dissing McCain, saying it would be better for the dims to win (Obama), annihilating the country in such a way that the conservatives would come back strong in 2012.
Jan, yes, but that only applies if amnesty didn’t pass, and you know that very well. And McCain supporting amnesty gave Dems cover to vote for it as bipartisan. A total disaster.
Once amnesty passes there will be no voting them out. And Obama is probably smart enough to realize that.
So, If McCain had won, amnesty was guaranteed, and the USA was over. If Obama won, there was a SLIGHT chance he would be too timid ot dense to realize the power it would give him, and it MIGHT not pass.
The bottom line is that with both parties supporting amnesty, and enough Rs supporting cap and trade to pass it, the country is done for anyway. But at least a Dem will have killed it.
Jan, I only said this a hundred thousand times, and you should be capable of referring to it without leaving out the rather critical details.
No, I told you he was a conservative on everything except environmental issues, and apparently he viewed this as an environmental issue. And I don’t judge “RINO-ness” by one vote.
“He has opposed federal funding for stem cell research and voted to limit abortion. He has voted for the Flag Desecration Amendment, the Iraq War Resolution, banning gay adoption, banning gay marriage and banning affirmative action. The National Rifle Association has given him an “A” rating, and the ACLU has given him a 13% percent rating because of his strong stance against illegal drugs, support for the death penalty and other conservative positions”
this WILL pass in the Senate…if the Dems want it. Period. They will weigh the pros and cons from a NARROW POLITICAL VIEWPOINT and make it happen or not.
Had the Republicans AT LEAST held completely firm they might have given them pause.
VERY shortly this will be described as a “Bi-Partisan” vote. In fact…it probably already HAS been!!
Somehow I doubt this fact was lost on Obama and his bots. Saves them money on healthcare. — JM
Well not really. Lets say Obamacare passes. The elderly start turning off their AC. Lets say due to that 5% additional deaths occur. Before they die, they will get some sort of treatment. Why? Because a great many of these people are what MFG alludes to low income folk. You think a black or a mexican won’t get care? Head of the line! So the Medicare costs will go up. At a $1000/day in an ICU, 3-4 days you have exceeded whatever the costs of the electricity would be.
LoBiondo’s ACU rating in 2008 was 52. That’s an improvement from 2007 when it was 44. So, in the past two years, he has voted conservative less than 50% of the time.
If he looks like a RINO and votes like a RINO, he must be a ….
“What’s this?” thought Barack Obama. “I can feel nothing warmer at all! That is terrible. Am I stupid? Am I a flat-earther? Am I a denier? Am I not fit to be President? That would be the most dreadful thing that could happen to me. “Oh, it is very hot!” Obama said aloud. “It has my highest approbation.” And Obama nodded in a contented way, and gazed outside, for he would not say that he felt no Global Warming. The whole entourage that he had with him looked and looked, and felt no warming, any more than the rest; but, like Barack Obama they said, “It is so hot!” and Rahm Emanuel counseled him to always say that he felt hot when he was out in public, even hotter than all the Chicago troubles were making them both feel. “It is warm, hot even!” went from mouth to mouth. On all sides there seemed to be general warming, and Barack Obama gave Al Gore the title of Imperial Master of Global Warming Science.
So Barack Obama went in procession, and every one in the streets said, “How incomparable hot it is! What a hot day it is!” No one would let it be perceived that he could not feel warming, for that would have shown that he was not fit for his office, or was very stupid or a flat-earther or a denier. No day of Barack Obama’s had ever been as hot as this one.
“But I’m freezing my ass off out here!” a little child cried out at last. “Just hear what that innocent says!” said the father: and one whispered to another what the child had said. “But it is cold out here!” said the whole people at length. That touched Barack Obama, for it seemed to him that they were right; but the thought within himself was, “I must go through with feeling all the Global Warming. I do not dare to do otherwise” And so he held himself a little higher, and his aides held on tighter than ever, and proclaimed the Global Warming which did not exist at all.
And further Jan, you must admit that if McCain had been elected, this bill would have passed with more votes than it passed with today.
Not necessarily..
For one thing, the bill itself would have been structured differently, and less harsh. McCain, even when he is being delusional, is against spending and higher taxes, which this bill has lots of.
Obama did lots of arm-twisting on behalf of this particular bill to pass. The arm-twisting, had a Republican been President, would have been going the other way.
I’ll give you this. You have some beautiful areas in your district, nice people (who talk funny) and some of the worst pizza I have even eaten in my life. If you put Christie on a pizza-only diet, I guarantee he will lose weight.
This is the first time I have vacationed outside of Michigan in years. The percentage of foreign-badged vehicles scares the sh!t out of me.
Rush made the statement that Harry Reid had said that he does not have the votes in the Senate to pass Cap & Tax. Too many senators from Red states that will get killed as the job loses mount. Rush also said that within the Cap & Tax bill were provisions to redistribute money to the poor as an offset.
Amnesty will be talked about but with unemployment in double digits not going to go there. They know that the until they secure the border, Americans from both sides wont like it. Plus those illegals will not be able to vote to save their asses when they are voted out by upset Americans.
Market news – savings by americans is up this last month causing concern as americans are not out spending. The market is worried that without americans spending how is the economy going to turn around. But why would any sane person spend discretionary funds in an uncertain economic environment.
Cap and trade may actually be a blessing in disguise. Americans are basically greedy people who vote primartly on economic issues. If this becomes law, it may shift a lot of votes our way. Unlike a lot of other things, cap and trade can be overturned.
Sink me, your politicians have again betrayed you. More’s the pity as your clowns will rule the land, and there will be no buffoons left to perform for Barnum & Bailey’s. So much for American politics, American science and American circuses.
It’s not counterproductive. We are trying to show the nation who stands for what and who is on which side.
The Dems ARE responsible, along with 8 Rs who put it over the top. So they are responsible too.
Stop denying this. If you VOTE FOR IT YOU SHARE IN THE RESPONSIBILITY.
Purging RINOs will turn the country into the Soviet Union
Really? And how well are we doing WITH them? I see hammer and sickle everywhere I look.
Better to die in battle outnumbered by your foes, than to die stabbed in the back by enemies wearing your uniform. Since there is no option other than to die, right now….
From an e-mail that I received from Numbers USA. Progressives & Liberals agree with us on Illegal Immigration and Amnesty – it is just our political elites who are out of step with us conservatives and our fellow progressive country men.
A new poll conducted by Progressives for Immigration Reform reveals that progressives believe that high immigration levels have negatively impacted the quality of life in the United States. They also believe that high immigration levels negatively impact the environment and hurt American workers.
The poll revealed:
Sixty seven percent of liberals and progressives felt the level of population growth caused by immigration negatively impacts the quality of life in the United States.
Fifty eight percent felt that the current levels of immigration are harmful to the environment.
Sixty three percent said that current levels of immigration hurts job prospects for American workers.
With regard to undocumented workers already here, the poll revealed that self-identified liberals are split over whether illegal immigrants should be offered an amnesty. Fifty three percent were in support of a pathway to citizenship and forty five percent were opposed.
“The results of this poll demonstrate what many on the political left have known for some time,” Durant said in a statement issued by Progressives for Immigration Reform. “Immigration is not a partisan issue. There are many progressives and liberals that are concerned about the unintended consequences that large scale immigration has on the environment, economy, and other issues that many liberals are concerned about. It is time to take this issue off the back burner. We need to talk frankly about the effects of immigration and find solutions that benefit both Americans and the global community.”
I am tired of bargaining — saying “If things get worse, than people will finally turn on the dims, and votes will shift our way.”
Since Obama has been President it has been one obamation after another. It’s like throwing bombs at this country and hoping something will be left after the assult is done. No, I don’t see cap and trade (Obama style) a blessing of any kind.
gnqanq
I laughed out loud when I heard that news piece about “Americans saving more,” being put in a negative way. That is why we got into this mess in the first place — no self discipline in spending habits. And, now they’re griping about the turnaround in these habits.
Hey MFG, at this point, offing the 8 that voted for that BS bill hurts the party not one bit. The Reps did not have the control in the House. So if you don’t have control, not likely to have control, then killing off the ones weakest in the herd affects nothing.
BTW I also don’t believe the line that this is dead as doornail in the Senate. It may have a tough road but nothing is ever really dead, plus as I mentioned at HHR brandon, they have 59 in the senate (- 2-3 that may not vote for it) add in Snow and Collins which who would probably vote for it on there own, but certainly can be arm twisted and throw a president behind the scene twisting arms to get cloture and I could see them getting to 60 without too much trouble, 51 for final passage at that point is all but assured.
This wasn’t a vote about adding the spotted owl or some slug to the endangered species act, or to make it a crime to tortue a dog, or to mandate some level of less toxins in our water, or some boondoggle environmental clean up project. Those are the type of votes however much they may aggravate you can be overlooked from time to time from an otherwise ok politician. This vote was a baseline test, it was even more disastrous economy wise then the stimulus bill which he voted against, he failed this test. It also highlights stupid politics, if it’s so dead in the senate what’s the point of exposing yourself as well as aiding the democrats in this vote, you know people are watching this vote hard.
Sorry this lossing to win is not a good strategy particularly when it crushes our economy in the mean time and there are zero guarantees ‘the public’ will later come around and reverse the disaster.
Jan – do you or any other american who is running scared gives a rats rear what these idiots say on what we should be doing. It was these same idiots that got us into this mess. Best thing to do is zig when they zag.
Good posting KH….. I would only say that losing to win IS dubious, but the Dems have the votes to do what they want.
When you get to that point the only thing you can do is go back to square 1 and show those who watch what the dems vote for and what we vote for. Then you can campaign to win back power based on an honest record.
that is why the 8 are such a**holes. They not only gave the Dems the awful win, but they gave them COVER as well.
Stripping away the cover for Americans to see who stands for what is all you’ve got left when your R supports the same bullshit the Dems do. This is what the problem with McCain was.
My theory is that many “independent” voters have no political philosophy and are easily swayed. They voted for Obama for two reasons: 1) it was the “cool” thing to do and 2) and the economy.
I believe that many of these will vote for the GOP if the economy stays bad. Plus, they already demonstrated they are not racists because they voted for Zero in 2008. There is no reason for the GOP to move left.
Or what the problem with Rudy or huckabee, or even Romney was. No damn difference in policy giving the left the cover they need to blame you when America realizes what has been done to it…
I want to know, and America NEEDS to know who its friends are and who its enemies are. And yes, “Useful Idiots” are enemies because they become tools of the TRUE enemies of America.
“The Moon is a Harsh Mistress”. Good read and shorter by 600+ pages than “Atlas Shrugged”. The Professor in that book spells out where we need to head and how. Fun book…I suggest it strongly.
I love MFG but you simply cannot reason with him on this, he flat out believes that any R is better than any Dem, even when the R votes with the Dems on the critical issues repeatedly.
It frustrates and confuses the voters when there are not clear choices to make in an election.
I used to live in Donnelly’s district in Indiana (South Bend, Elkhart). There was a lot of advertising aimed at getting him to fold. He didn’t while the eight “courageous” RINOs.
RWY, I used to fight with you over this…I am now on your side.
Folks, whether you like it or not you are going to wind up in a foxhole on one side or the other of the coming conflict. If you’re standing in the middle pleading for calm: BOTH sides are going to shoot you!
Justrand, it depends on the situation. MFG is right that you need asses in seats.
but my point is if those asses are going to vote with the asses, what have you won? You need conservative votes, NOT JUST ASSES IN SEATS.
And if the years since 2005 and the Gang of 14 and Harriet Miers do not show the R voters what happens to the R party when it’s run by a bunch of Guiliani clones, then NOTHING WILL.
good point, Brandon, WA, CA, DE, IL, NJ, NY can form the nucleus of the new: “United Dead Broke and Starving States of America” (UDBSSA). I wish them well!
“I love MFG but you simply cannot reason with him on this, he flat out believes that any R is better than any Dem”
—
These are the kind of critical votes that separate R’s I can try and live with due to there districts or whatever their case may be, and those I can not. Stimulus was another, as was Tarp, as will be the health care legislation that’s coming.
New party time I think I’m finally reaching my limit I know I will have by the time they pass government mandated and run health care. But at that point I could scream new party till I’m blue in the face but it will not matter cause the damage will have been done and there’s no real turning that back too much dependence without either a breakup or a serious revolution, either of which I’ve been looking forward too for some time, not the deaths that will come but the eventual clean slate.
“God bless the Founders for the 2nd Amendment!”
Funny you mention that brother called me from a gun shop in Albany today to chit chat so while he was there I had him pick me up an AR. Wonder how long till they go after that, perhaps that will have to wait till after the mid-terms.
God will they stop with the MJ stuff, don’t they know not everyone loved MJ, dear lord.
So, what I want to know is, how on earth can you hold these views and still vote for Democrats? What can such people be thinking? It’s true, of course, that most people hold inconsistent ideas in their minds and can swing one way or another depending on the particular appeal that is made. But still: how can we have a population that trusts private enterprises to spend money more wisely than government by a 62-17 percent margin, and still elect Congressmen who vote for a disgraceful bill like Waxman-Markey, and who may, before long, enact socialized medicine? It’s a mystery.
{ot for dog: }That http://www.bejohngalt problem I was having has corrected itself, guess it was in fact clearwire after all, can’t believe my call actually resulted in it getting fixed. lol
With the exception of Bono Mack, none of this group votes with his party as often as the worst rated Democratic member of the house. If these people want to run as Republicans, fine. But, let’s not waste any money on them.
“Not long before they come after your ”

That was the advantage of over paying a bit, but having my brother purchase it…lol
There not going to be coming for me at first… first they will goto him and get hurt real bad that kid has an armory, assuming they live through that to find he sold it to me for .01$ then I get the heads up they are coming. My 9mm however is tied directly to me.
Speaking to a group of servicemen in Kosovo, Gov. Sarah Palin responded to a crack made by Sen. John Kerry earlier this week. Sen. Kerry joked he wished Palin went missing along with Sanford. “He looked quite frustrated and he looked so sad,” she said. “I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say ‘John Kerry, why the long face?’,” she concluded.
I saw that video was a cute and appropriate throw away joke\response, remarks were ok, not server everyone in the room was old enough to really remember Reagan though.
That Kerry comment was despicable, from a despicable, worthless asshole
She should have said, “I can understand why Senator Kerry was upset. It must hurt to come SO close to the Presidency, to fail in the accomplishment of your life’s dream. Ohio was SO close in 2004 wasn’t it?”
KnightHawk, if they ever start coming for ANYONE that isn’t a criminal strictly on the basis that they have a gun then it truly will be the 2nd American Revolution!
Word to DHS folks…I am THE most law-abiding citizen that EVER walked the earth of this great nation! Clear? Cool. ‘Cause if you EVER come for my 2nd Amendment rights you need to bring LOTS of “friends”, LOTS of ammo…and LUNCH (’cause you’re gonna be there a while!)
And there are tens of MILLIONS who feel just like me!
I like wool sweaters…but generally think that sheep SUCK! I am NOT ONE!

supposed to be ’sure’ lol… guess work is still on my mind.
Btw I just swung by PP, OL actually has a sane post up for once.
Signing off for the night.
I think Sarah has decided that she’s not going to take any crap from anyone any more.
She sure is a lightning rod for liberals and establishment Republicans, isn’t she? I think it shows her strength. How much time do we spend dissing Dennis Kuhinich or Marci Kaptur?
“I am surprised they have not thought to ask for the registration numbers of the guns in our home on the census.”

I’d be that is a question on the extended survey, but maybe not, cause they ought to know it will drive people ape shit.
Hell, if I was married to Teresa Heinz-Kerry, I’d go missing. That’s what I don’t underatand – Jenny Sanford appears to be a class act, wealthy, reasonably attractive. As Zo says, the grass is always greener ….
Upon arriving in heaven, the Lord God Almighty spole unto her: “You have been a compassionate soul while your time on Earth was tumultuous. I will grant you one wish.” Ms. Fawcett thought about it for a few moments and concluded to ask this of the Lord. “Almighty Father, I wish that all the children on Earth be safe from harm or anyone who might do them harm.” God smiled and winked at her. “I understand what you mean my child,” God replied to her. Within milliseconds Michael Jackson was dead and rotting in hell. The moral of the story is biblical. DON’T PHUCK WITH CHILDREN!!!! Even inmates of the most heinous crimes have utter contempt for those who harm children.
Like the treacherous nobles in Braveheart, some (perhaps most, who knows) of these various congressional-idiots were bought off, selling their souls for 30 pieces of silver – and unfortunately a few wear an “R” on their crest.
May the hammer of come-uppance fall upon all of those wretched knaves (politically speaking) as it fell upon the traitorous nobles in the film! May this day not be fogotten come November.
Acroso…I approved you “Test” message…but approving individual messages will be case-by-case for a while. Stay within the bounds (which are not at all restrictive) and you’re welcome to post (though, again, someone will have to release each one for a while).

The last time Pelosi pushed real hard was getting the stimulus package through so she could go to China??? Or, am I mixing events up?
If not, why are there always “travel plans” involved when Pelosi wants a piece of legislation to pass?

[23]
Doenst appear to have. Flake and Sullivan abstained? WHY!
[24]
JustRand, I am with you…..I am filled with contempt for all of those in the government that supported this….
We are coming apart at the seams…..
[25]
Time to flush the toilet known as the USA…
[26]
The psychosis of claiming that this will create jobs
GDP killing catastrophe
Wait’ll Grandma’s electricity bill doubles
Well, people wanted it, people got it
[27]
Can this be stopped in the Senate???
[28]
Traitor’s row:
Bono Mack;
Castle
Kirk
Lance
LoBiondo
McHugh
Reichert Smith
who was the 8th?
[29]
oops, Reichert and Smith are the 7th and 8th….
[30]
Time to go Galt……
My friends prepare, for the time is near and rapidly approaches.
[31]
MFG, it’s dead in the senate. Reid and Inhofe have already come out and said that.
[32]
Don’t be like JokeLeaf
This was a Democommie plan, backed overwhelmingly by Democommies
We held 95% of our caucus, it’s hard to do better than that
The Democommie party is responsible for this
[33]
Exodus? or revolution?
[34]
Brandon, thanks for the info, do you have a link for us…???
[35]
This was a Democommie plan, backed overwhelmingly by Democommies
Dude, I’m not like Oak Leaf, I know it’s a Scum-o-crat bill. It sure does suck that our 8 could have stopped it, however…that’s what I’m pissed about.
[36]
Why are you always picking on my man Cao…???
[37]
I have heard the Senate went on recess and won’t pass this until July at least.
[38]
True
But it’s extremely hard to hold 100% of your caucus on anything…
[39]
Revelations is what I am thinking…..”There will come a time when you believe everything is over, that is the beginning”. Louis L’ Amour

I read it on Red State.

[41]
Why are you always picking on my man Cao…???
Amnesty prostitute.
Plus, word on the street this morning was he was a yes vote. I am glad to see that was not true.
Are you seriously wondering why I am sick to the point of vomiting over Dem-lites and RINOs?
[42]
It’s the INSANITY of it that bothers me so deeply
When you look at the science, the belief that CO2 is a pollutant is utterly laughable
We’re going to lay waste to our economy battling something that doesn’t even exist
Words fail
[43]
Look, I’m not stupid, I’ll take a vote where I can get it. But these Scumocrat bills are so horrible there ought to be no question how the GOP votes, every damn one of them.
[44]
See, if we had 8 more Cao’s this thing would have gotten stopped
We need to support Republicans even if they’re not “pure”
[45]
I know that Kirk, Castle and Lobiondo are utterly hopeless anyway.
[46]
Thanks, Brandon
[47]
Yet, they all voted against the stimulus, budget, and omnibus bill. Yeah, real hopeless.
[48]
We need to support Republicans even if they’re not “pure”
In Cao’s case, no, because this would result in amnesty and 325 Dems in the house, 80 in the Senate.
Just wait, you’ll see. Amnesty passes and you can forget about 2012, or even 2010. And Cao has stated he supports it.
[49]
This thing is dead in the Senate….for now…..and soon the fact that Australia and New Zealand are dropping or revisiting their versions of this stupidity will get out….and more people will read about what a great success this approach has been for Spain.
I agree any R that voted for this should be shunned, but they had 31 Dems that got ‘permission’ from the Queen to vote no…..but that number would have been 22 if all our guys had voted no.
This vote was to appease their base. Health Care is the one they really want to ram down our throats right now. Then Amnesty.
[50]
I agree MFG. I’m sick and tired of this “purge the RINO’s” crap.
[51]
Yet, they all voted against the stimulus, budget, and omnibus bill. Yeah, real
hopeless.
Smarten up. They voted against killing America by firing squad and voted for it to be hung. Same result.
[52]
It’s remarkable how blind some people are to this issue; I have had conversations with several money managers where I have tried to explain the devastating effects of this bill and they have virtually laughed in my face
[53]
HatTip RedState:

CALL THEM ALL and/or EMAIL THEM ALL!
I intend to do both. I will work to defeat all 8…even if that means contributing to a Democrat to do it. I intend to indicate that in both my voice and emails.
[54]
Amnesty’s going nowhere
With this unemployment rate…???
Which is still going higher…???
Not a chance, at least in the short term
They won’t even bring it up
[55]
“It sure does suck that our 8 could have stopped it, however…that’s what I’m pissed about.”
—
Yup, and even if piggy had the vote on her side to switch we should have forced her hand forcing 8 so called “blue dogs” to stick their necks out further. It’s dead in the Senate for now but you never know, but it does highlight 8 more assholes in the GOP that think voting for economic disaster is cool.
Let me get this straight these 8 could vote against porkulous but not this???
Pathetic.
[56]
So, let me get this straight. You want more Democrats in congress? You’re cutting off your nose to spite your face.
[57]
I know you heard of primaries so why loaded question?
No I want 8 additional people in the house that will not vote for economic disaster, if they have to be Democrats so be it.
[58]
I don’t mind RINOs being squishy on some topics. But THIS is literally slitting the throat of America. I find ZERO wiggle room for this.
The only reason Americans aren’t hitting the streets with pitchforks is that the media found a convenient way to ignore the whole thing via Michael Jackson’s death. But they would have found some OTHER excuse anyway.
IF this passes the Senate, then Americans will finally see $6.00+ gasoline…and home heating/cooling bills that are DOUBLE what they are today.
What will Queen Nancy say THEN??
[59]
Sorry, but these are mostly DEM leaning districts, you will get a Democrat if you primary from the right.
[60]
I’m sick and tired of this “purge the RINO’s” crap.
Your precious RINOs just voted to destroy your future job and millions of others. They voted to tax your energy use in perpetuity, making your life and the lives of your children more difficult.
You keep wondering why you get knocked down and you can’t figure out where the punches are coming from.
Boy, wake the **** up. You’re old enough to figure this crap out.
[61]
So much for that $500 a month Hubby and I found out we are saving on our credit card/car payment as of today. Here you go, Obama….you know better than us what to do with that money anyway.
[62]
what KnightHawk said!
it is time to find out who REALLY stands for what. Everyone who voted for this piece of shit voted AGAINST my country…or what is left of it.
I truly hope that a few energy rich States (Texas, Oklahoma, Utah, Alaska, et al) form a NEW Union…and I will absolutely move THERE!
I am more and more in favor of secession…bring it on!
[63]
Amnesty’s going nowhere
With this unemployment rate…???
Which is still going higher…???
Not a chance, at least in the short term
They won’t even bring it up
Why do you keep saying this? They have already said they are bringing it up, once the votes are found. Just like on cap and trade, they merely have to offer enough sweeteners to the swing Dems.
2 weeks ago people were saying cap and trade was dead. What just passed a half hour ago again?
[64]
Because the bill is dead anyway moron. It’s going nowhere in the senate.
[65]
Sorry, but these are mostly DEM leaning districts, you will get a Democrat if you primary from the right.
And what party did they just vote with on cap and trade again? One of 3 economic disaster bills that they are going to be voting on this summer, along with amnesty and health care?
Who did they vote with again?
[66]
And if it passes, and energy bills go up, it will help us politically anyway. It’s win-win for us either way.
[67]
I am willing to bet anything there will be no GOP votes on amnesty(which I doubt will even come up), and health care.
[68]
Amnesty in this environment is utter political suicide
They won’t bring it up this year, and can’t next year in an election year
They bring it up in ‘11 unless we win a fairly large amount of seats in the House in ‘10
[69]
Because the bill is dead anyway moron. It’s going nowhere in the senate.
It’s guaranteed to pass. A matter of pressure, and negotiation. It is absolutely guaranteed to pass.
How absolutely comically naive you are. Tell me, do you remember the Obama emails going out to the campaign to remind them they would be needed to pressure reluctant legislators when the agenda came up for votes?
Did you think he was kidding?
[70]
And if it passes, and energy bills go up, it will help us politically anyway. It’s
win-win for us either way.
Amnesty will give them the votes to get over this hump. Watch and learn.
[71]
Amnesty in this environment is utter political suicide
No, it’s permanent irreversible victory. Once it passes, you CANT VOTE THEM OUT.
Watch and learn.
[72]
And the Rs cannot stop ANYTHING. Nothing at all.

[74]
As this vote clearly shows. And don’t give me this “it’ll never happen” stuff.
2 weeks ago, everyone was saying cap and trade was dead. LOL! Hey, what happened with that?
[75]
Grayson, D-Orl, and Kosmas, my commie rep, voted yes. BASTARDS.
[76]
Melancon!
LOL!
Scared to death about holding his conservative seat here in LA if he voted for a piece of crap bill like that
Kucinich…???
[77]
Kucinich didn’t think it went far enough.
[78]
Be interesting to see how a few of these folks’ bank accounts look before and after.
[79]
Of course! Why didn’t I think of that? Kucinich probably would like a repeal of capitalism
[80]
And if it passes, and energy bills go up, it will help us politically anyway. It’s win-win for us either way.
This kind of logic reminds me of you rwy, when you were dissing McCain, saying it would be better for the dims to win (Obama), annihilating the country in such a way that the conservatives would come back strong in 2012.
Your strategical thinking very similar to Brandon’s!
[81]
The science is going lower, more than it went higher before.
Time there was reason and progress, but that cup soon runneth no more.
Though we could not caution all, we still might warn a few:
Dont lend your hand to raise no flag atop no Ship of Fools.
Ship of Fools on a intellectually empty sea
Ship of Fools sail away from we.
It was later than we thought, when we still might have had some belief in you,
Now we can no longer tolerate your fumbling insanity, Ship of Fools.
[82]
The indigent elderly are going to be obliterated by this idiotic nonsense
There are people here in LA living on $11,000 a year
Their electric bills doubling will become literally a matter of life and death
[83]
“Your strategical thinking very similar to Brandon’s!”
For some reason, I don’t think he’ll like that…
[84]
LoBiondo is Brandon’s congressman. I am vacationing in his district and some group called Republicans for Environmental Protection has been running a lot of commercials on FNC. After checking out LoBiondo’s voting record, I mentioned to Brandon that he sure looked like a RINO. Brandon assured me that he wasn’t a RINO. It looks like LoBiondo.
No offense Brandon, but I don’t believe you could spot a RINO if he/she was naked, painted purple and had David Frum and Chekote riding him bareback.
Hopefully, in 5-10 years….
[85]
Somehow I doubt this fact was lost on Obama and his bots. Saves them money on healthcare.
[86]
[87]
No, I told you he was a conservative on everything except environmental issues, and apparently he viewed this as an environmental issue. And I don’t judge “RINO-ness” by one vote.
[88]
But yes, I’ll admit I was a little surprised that he voted for it, but I’d rather judge someone by their whole record than just one vote.
[89]
And further Jan, you must admit that if McCain had been elected, this bill would have passed with more votes than it passed with today.
[90]
How is this a RINO?
“He has opposed federal funding for stem cell research and voted to limit abortion. He has voted for the Flag Desecration Amendment, the Iraq War Resolution, banning gay adoption, banning gay marriage and banning affirmative action. The National Rifle Association has given him an “A” rating, and the ACLU has given him a 13% percent rating because of his strong stance against illegal drugs, support for the death penalty and other conservative positions”
[91]
this WILL pass in the Senate…if the Dems want it.
[92]
Somehow I doubt this fact was lost on Obama and his bots. Saves them money on healthcare. — JM
Well not really. Lets say Obamacare passes. The elderly start turning off their AC. Lets say due to that 5% additional deaths occur. Before they die, they will get some sort of treatment. Why? Because a great many of these people are what MFG alludes to low income folk. You think a black or a mexican won’t get care? Head of the line! So the Medicare costs will go up. At a $1000/day in an ICU, 3-4 days you have exceeded whatever the costs of the electricity would be.
[93]
LoBiondo’s ACU rating in 2008 was 52. That’s an improvement from 2007 when it was 44. So, in the past two years, he has voted conservative less than 50% of the time.
If he looks like a RINO and votes like a RINO, he must be a ….
[94]
And this way, the Dems OWN it, and cannot blame the R party for the disaster.
Oh wait, 8 Rs put it over the top. Including LoBiondo.
Ok, forget it. We get the blame along with the Dems. Because of who? The RINOs.
[95]
[96]
And further Jan, you must admit that if McCain had been elected, this bill would have passed with more votes than it passed with today.
Not necessarily..
For one thing, the bill itself would have been structured differently, and less harsh. McCain, even when he is being delusional, is against spending and higher taxes, which this bill has lots of.
Obama did lots of arm-twisting on behalf of this particular bill to pass. The arm-twisting, had a Republican been President, would have been going the other way.
Brandon
For some reason, I don’t think he’ll like that…
You’re probably right.
[97]
But people like Brandon and Chekote will continue to say the problem with the R party are those damned social conservatives.
[98]
For one thing, the bill itself would have been structured differently, and less harsh.
How so? dems would have written the bill.
The arm-twisting, had a Republican been President, would have been going the other way.
Yes. It would have passed with more R votes, you’re making my point for me.
[99]
Every working American got a $1.50/hour wage cut just now, at a minimum.
courtesy of the dem party. Oh and 8 Rs put it over the top.
[100]
Whoa, whoa, whoa I never said that. I am socially conservative myself.
[101]
Brandon -
I’ll give you this.

Don’t forget, the R party candidates for president in 2008 who supported this cap and trade that passed today were:
McCain
Guiliani
Huckabee
Romney

[105]
Where did you have the pizza from? If you get a chance before you go, try Mack and Mancos on the boardwalk in Ocean City, some of the best pizza ever.
And speaking of talking funny, have you heard “wooter” for “water” yet?
[106]
Cap and trade may actually be a blessing in disguise. Americans are basically greedy people who vote primartly on economic issues. If this becomes law, it may shift a lot of votes our way. Unlike a lot of other things, cap and trade can be overturned.

Stone Harbor Pizza. It tasted like cardboard. We didn’t have Yellow Pages, but found an ad.

Stop denying this. If you VOTE FOR IT YOU SHARE IN THE RESPONSIBILITY.

[111]

Off’em.
[114]
[115]
Blessing in disguise??
Sorry this lossing to win is not a good strategy particularly when it crushes our economy in the mean time and there are zero guarantees ‘the public’ will later come around and reverse the disaster.
[116]
GOP is supposed to be blocking and tackling right now with votes like this, slowing, delaying, exposing.
[117]
My top 2 choices for POTUS, why am I not surprised. Shame Thompson didn’t have the fire in his belly, and too many people said Duncan who? *sigh*
[118]
Jan – do you or any other american who is running scared gives a rats rear what these idiots say on what we should be doing. It was these same idiots that got us into this mess. Best thing to do is zig when they zag.
[119]
Good posting KH….. I would only say that losing to win IS dubious, but the Dems have the votes to do what they want.
When you get to that point the only thing you can do is go back to square 1 and show those who watch what the dems vote for and what we vote for. Then you can campaign to win back power based on an honest record.
that is why the 8 are such a**holes. They not only gave the Dems the awful win, but they gave them COVER as well.
Stripping away the cover for Americans to see who stands for what is all you’ve got left when your R supports the same bullshit the Dems do. This is what the problem with McCain was.
[120]
Janzam -
My theory is that many “independent” voters have no political philosophy and are easily swayed.
[121]
Or what the problem with Rudy or huckabee, or even Romney was. No damn difference in policy giving the left the cover they need to blame you when America realizes what has been done to it…
[122]
I want to know, and America NEEDS to know who its friends are and who its enemies are. And yes, “Useful Idiots” are enemies because they become tools of the TRUE enemies of America.
“The Moon is a Harsh Mistress”. Good read and shorter by 600+ pages than “Atlas Shrugged”. The Professor in that book spells out where we need to head and how. Fun book…I suggest it strongly.
Time to speed it up folks.
p.s. Glenn Beck tonight is great!
[123]
I love MFG but you simply cannot reason with him on this, he flat out believes that any R is better than any Dem, even when the R votes with the Dems on the critical issues repeatedly.
It frustrates and confuses the voters when there are not clear choices to make in an election.
[124]
and G**DAMMIT folks…I urge you all to SCREAM at anybody who thinks Michael Jackson dying is anything OTHER than a blessing to children everywhere!
this man RAPED little boys for AT LEAST a decade!!! AT LEAST!
ok, he PAID the families off…so it’s kinda like prostitution. But I don’t think making him a SAINT sends the right message!

I used to live in Donnelly’s district in Indiana (South Bend, Elkhart). There was a lot of advertising aimed at getting him to fold. He didn’t while the eight “courageous” RINOs.
[126]
RWY, I used to fight with you over this…I am now on your side.

[127]
Justrand, it depends on the situation. MFG is right that you need asses in seats.
but my point is if those asses are going to vote with the asses, what have you won? You need conservative votes, NOT JUST ASSES IN SEATS.
And if the years since 2005 and the Gang of 14 and Harriet Miers do not show the R voters what happens to the R party when it’s run by a bunch of Guiliani clones, then NOTHING WILL.
[128]
The fact is that this is a Scum-o-crat bill.
but the fact ALSO is that 8 R traitors GAVE the DEMS the victory with their votes? Should we reward them? Praise them?
What they did hurts ALL Americans, and they have done a horrible, contemptible thing and SHOULD PAY FOR IT.
[129]
Look at the states these Reps were from: WA, CA, DE, IL, NJ, NY, not exactly bastions of conservatism.
[130]
RWY & MFG…there’s votes and there’s VOTES. this was a VOTE!
if the vote is: “Hey, who wants chicken for dinner and who wants steak?” I don’t give a damn how it turns out (even if I REALLY wanted steak)
but if the vote is: “Who want to destroy this country and who doesn’t?” then I REALLY do give a damn!!!!
these 8 Quislings need to leave! Mary Bono Mack needs to find another washed-up ex-celebrity to marry, for example…and go skiiing!
[131]
Brandon
I’m surprised at Bono in CA. I always thought she was conservative. Isn’t she from the Palm Springs area of CA?
[132]
good point, Brandon, WA, CA, DE, IL, NJ, NY can form the nucleus of the new: “United Dead Broke and Starving States of America” (UDBSSA). I wish them well!
[133]
“I love MFG but you simply cannot reason with him on this, he flat out believes that any R is better than any Dem”
—
These are the kind of critical votes that separate R’s I can try and live with due to there districts or whatever their case may be, and those I can not. Stimulus was another, as was Tarp, as will be the health care legislation that’s coming.
[134]
“Mary Bono Mack needs to find another washed-up ex-celebrity to marry, for example…and go skiiing!”
—
Well MJ’s out as an option.
I still don’t understand how she keeps getting re-elected.
[135]
Pity?
[136]
I’m scaring ME in how this makes me feel! how many people are WAAAAAAY past me in how THEY feel?
time for dinner…probably a good thing
[137]
is there a list of singers who can’t ski? maybe we can send her the link…and get her bony ass OUT of Congress!
[138]
“Pity?”
—
originally… but still??? Come on!!
[139]
Did I miss a post that listed the eight Republicans who committed political suicide today?
[140]
RP:
Traitor’s row:

[141]
New party time I think I’m finally reaching my limit I know I will have by the time they pass government mandated and run health care. But at that point I could scream new party till I’m blue in the face but it will not matter cause the damage will have been done and there’s no real turning that back too much dependence without either a breakup or a serious revolution, either of which I’ve been looking forward too for some time, not the deaths that will come but the eventual clean slate.
[142]
KnightHawk…I am ready to rock & roll.
and MILLIONS of Americans are too…a huge % of which are veterans!
God bless the Founders for the 2nd Amendment!
[143]
“God bless the Founders for the 2nd Amendment!”
Funny you mention that brother called me from a gun shop in Albany today to chit chat so while he was there I had him pick me up an AR. Wonder how long till they go after that, perhaps that will have to wait till after the mid-terms.
God will they stop with the MJ stuff, don’t they know not everyone loved MJ, dear lord.
[144]
H/T Power Line
[145]
Not long before they come after your Armalite Rifle….
don’t let anyone get away with saying your AR stands for Assault Rifle. It does not.
I hear educated morons say that all the time.
[146]
Remember KH. Spend as much on ammo as you did on the gun. That’s the rule.
[147]
{ot for dog: }That http://www.bejohngalt problem I was having has corrected itself, guess it was in fact clearwire after all, can’t believe my call actually resulted in it getting fixed. lol
[148]
Assuming I can locate any RWY…lol
[149]
Here are the 2008 ACU ratings for the eight that voted for Cap and Trade:
Bono Mack: 74
Castle: 28
Kirk: 48
Lance: n/r
LoBiondo: 52
McHugh: 40
Reichert: 56
Smith: 28
With the exception of Bono Mack, none of this group votes with his party as often as the worst rated Democratic member of the house. If these people want to run as Republicans, fine. But, let’s not waste any money on them.
[150]
“Not long before they come after your ”
—
That was the advantage of over paying a bit, but having my brother purchase it…lol
There not going to be coming for me at first… first they will goto him and get hurt real bad that kid has an armory, assuming they live through that to find he sold it to me for .01$ then I get the heads up they are coming. My 9mm however is tied directly to me.
[151]
bc3b – for you.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2009/06/26/palin_responds_to_sen_kerry_joke_why_the_long_face.html
[152]
I saw that video was a cute and appropriate throw away joke\response, remarks were ok, not server everyone in the room was old enough to really remember Reagan though.
[153]
That Kerry comment was despicable, from a despicable, worthless asshole
She should have said, “I can understand why Senator Kerry was upset. It must hurt to come SO close to the Presidency, to fail in the accomplishment of your life’s dream. Ohio was SO close in 2004 wasn’t it?”
[154]
Zo weighs in on Sanford:

[155]
[156]
KH,
Glad to hear the network problem cleared up.
Sadly its now on my internal network. Can’t get the WiFi going. NetGear is crap.
[157]
“server ”
—
supposed to be ’sure’ lol… guess work is still on my mind.
Btw I just swung by PP, OL actually has a sane post up for once.
Signing off for the night.
[158]
I think Sarah has decided that she’s not going to take any crap from anyone any more.
She sure is a lightning rod for liberals and establishment Republicans, isn’t she? I think it shows her strength. How much time do we spend dissing Dennis Kuhinich or Marci Kaptur?
[159]
And there are tens of MILLIONS who feel just like me!

I am surprised they have not thought to ask for the registration numbers of the guns in our home on the census.
[160]
LOL Dr… I passed the cooties.

Memo to news media:
MICHAEL JACKSON IS DEAD, GET OVER IT!!!!
[163]
Thanks Janzam. Political death to them all.
[164]
“NetGear is crap” – maybe but come on you going to spend the money for real quality equipment @ home? no.
[165]
“I am surprised they have not thought to ask for the registration numbers of the guns in our home on the census.”

I’d be that is a question on the extended survey, but maybe not, cause they ought to know it will drive people ape shit.
[166]
Hell, if I was married to Teresa Heinz-Kerry, I’d go missing. That’s what I don’t underatand – Jenny Sanford appears to be a class act, wealthy, reasonably attractive. As Zo says, the grass is always greener ….
[167]
[168]
theghostofreason…perfect! thanks, I truly needed that!
[169]
Like the treacherous nobles in Braveheart, some (perhaps most, who knows) of these various congressional-idiots were bought off, selling their souls for 30 pieces of silver – and unfortunately a few wear an “R” on their crest.
May the hammer of come-uppance fall upon all of those wretched knaves (politically speaking) as it fell upon the traitorous nobles in the film! May this day not be fogotten come November.
[170]
amen, durman…amen!
and to KnightHawk….LOL on you’re last comment on the Cost of Freedom post!!
cheers to all!
Justrand
[171]
KH, Yep, I don’t $$ for house gear.
Durman, do you have it on good authority that JR is an equestrian with ball and chain?
[172]
Ok….still laughing about Beck offering the turtle a Dove bar.
[173]
Acroso…I approved you “Test” message…but approving individual messages will be case-by-case for a while. Stay within the bounds (which are not at all restrictive) and you’re welcome to post (though, again, someone will have to release each one for a while).
welcome back…sort of
[174]
McHugh was appointed as some job in the state department so this was probably his way of paying back the president.
