Health Care Humor by Hoyer
Via Hot Air, Cybercast News Service has news on the upcoming health care bill by bringing us another great moment in legislative responsibility and constituency respect from House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer:
“If every member pledged to not vote for it if they hadn’t read it in its entirety, I think we would have very few votes,” Hoyer told CNSNews.com at his regular weekly news conference….
In fact, Hoyer found the idea of the pledge humorous, laughing as he responded to the question. “I’m laughing because a) I don’t know how long this bill is going to be, but it’s going to be a very long bill,” he said.
However, one group is taking names:
Let Freedom Ring, a Delaware-based conservative organization, is circulating a pledge that asks members of Congress to promise to read the entirety of the final text of a health-care reform bill before they vote on it. They also are asking that the full bill be made available for review by the public for 72 hours before Congress votes on it.
I can’t help but remember that picture of a group of Senators laughing it up over amnesty a few years ago.
We’ll see who has the last laugh, Steny. Can you say the phrase “midterm elections”???

I sure hope the public is awake enough, and informed enough, to send the right message to these guys.

40% of the population is in the mode of not watching politics. Of the 60% left, half are in the mode of ‘What the hell happened?’ The other 40% of th subgroup want it.
Rep Bachmann was on Hannity last night. She mentioned that the Congressional switchboard melted again on the whole issue even though we lost.
[3]
If our representatives actually read bills before they voted on them, far fewer would pass.

They are either being paid off, are afraid of being labled “racist” for going against the one, are afraid of blackmail, or really just don’t care- because they have nothing to lose. Term limits would solve SO many issues with these morons.

Agreed, JustMary.
It’s term limits…..or torches and pitchforks.

mulletover: “It’s term limits…..or torches and pitchforks.”
We can’t have BOTH??? Actually I think we’ll need the “torches and pitchforks” to force the term limits!! (besides I’ve got a brand new pitchfork and a barrelful of torches!!)
[7]
Both please.
