Zero Is Drowning on Many Fronts

2009 July 2
by bc3b

According to today’s Rasmussen Reports:

  • Obama is -2 in the Daily Presidential Tracking Poll
  • Republicans Lead Again on Congressional ballot
  • 64% Say Iraq War Not Over Yet
  • 56% Don’t Want To Pay More To Fight Global Warming
  • Public Support for Sotomayor Falls After Supreme Court Reversal
  • 57% Say Gun Sales Up Due To Fear of More Gun Control
  • 42% (a Plurality) Say Climate Change Bill Will Hurt Economy
  • 45% (another Plurality) Believe One-Party Rule Is Bad for the U.S.
  • The Number that Believe the Nation Is Headed in the Right Direction Is Dropping
  • The Number Who Favor Obama’s Handling of the Economy Has Dropped to 42%

    Here’s the Link.

Obama also seems to be losing independents very quickly.

Hat tip to Janzam.

Is the halo starting to tarnish?

A Marine died in Afghanistan today, and a soldier is missing in action.

    WE ARE IN A QUAGMIRE!!!!!!

I am not making light of any death or capture of our brave servicemen, but am only yelling this before the dems do in about 6 months, even though this is not Obama’s war.

By the way has anyone seen code pink lately? Didn’t think so.

I’m glad Obama’s number are drifting lower, but no one should think that will slow down his agenda. He is a black panther leftist, and his fingers will have to be pried from the levers of power before he ever gives up.

Lets take a quick look at what Zero has accomplished in the last month. He gave away two car companies, he’s spent ten times the money he’s taken in, he has managed to piss off the Muslims, and Israel, Iraq will soon be in another quagmire, Afghanstan is a mess, many Iranians seeking freedom died while waiting for Obama to just throw them a bone, the Honduran people simply said ‘leave us alone, we have our own laws.’, Amtrakgate is looming, unemployment rose again under his watch, etc….

So Obama will have to do something soon to take the focus off him. I think he apologizes to Michael Jackson’s fans. “This didn’t have to happen. If only we had a single payer system.”

I don’t see anybody else he can apologize to.

I thought drdog stated it brilliantly on the previous thread when he said the following about Obama:

“He lacks the ability to see, define, and act on an opportunity. The biggest one of his career landed in his lap and he let it fall between his knees. The Iranian situation would have been earth shaking with a more nimble President. A long shot gamble to topple the mullahs in order to defuse nuclear arms expansion, wound Syria and destroy Hamas would have rewritten the rules in the ME.”

Approval among independent voters is 52 – 37 percent, compared to 57 – 30 percent in a June 4 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University. The survey of more than 3,000 voters also finds that voters feel 32 – 30 percent that things in the nation have gotten better since President Obama was inaugurated. Independent voters say 32 – 27 percent that things are worse, with 40 percent saying things are the same.

“Those who liked President Obama the most from the start – African-Americans, Democrats, women – still like him by the same margins, but a chunk of voters who were undecided have decided he’s not their cup of tea,” said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. “Among independents, men, white Catholics, white evangelical Christians and Republicans, his numbers have fallen. He still has a ways to go before his coalition becomes politically unstable, but there are some groups and issues – especially the economy – where he needs to make sure this trend does not continue.”

a liberal friend said to me the other day “Obama has been so good for the country!” I said “How? Name one way”. He said “Black people have been so friendly lately”.

    no joke.

So the press needs a “Black Friendliness Index” (BFI). When every other measure tanks, the BFI will stay up.

Look for the BFI to tank the instant Obama leaves power though. Nothing gained, everything lost.

Obama has just named you his economy czar. He will run with your one, best recommendation. What is yours?

My suggestion would be for an increase in hiring by something like 2-3% for medium size businesses and 4-5% for larger corporations with the promise that the federal goverment will offset their corporate taxes over the next few years.

The answer is George Bush. And the human psychological power of belief, to believe in an empty suit in contrast to what they had already seen.

The media blitz also rolled a LOT of people.

I wonder of the media understands that those people are now starting to get very angry. They’ve shot off their other foot. Soon they will resemble the Black Knight in Monty Python.

Well since you asked. Only thing it won’t be one solution —

    * A 10yr freeze on all new regulations. Also a 1:10 exemption for NOT spending money on lobbying.
    * Any company <500 employees exempted capital gains taxation for 5yrs provided the funds are used for capital plant improvements.
    * 10yr dollar for dollar reduction in AGI for education against the 1040.
    * Eliminate H-1B’s.

Not to nit pick but wouldn’t some of what you list be new regulations? (I know what you meant though)

    15% Individual
15% Capital gains phased out over 3 years
25% Corporate – 15% if you maintain 55%> or greater employment of U.S.Citizens (excludes legal non citizens), rule has no boundaries.

SS – phase out, No SS for those born after 1990 – contributed funds go to interest bearing retirement accounts at qualified institution of your choice funds are your own asset(s) essentially held in trust. Some optional buy out or partial buy out for others.

Immediate presidential ‘national defense’ waivers for any pending nuclear plants being held up due to BS environmental regulations of non human trivial consequence, immediate evaluation of existing federal lands well positioned as nuclear generation sites – partner with private firms to build and operate something like gov gets 5% of revenue in return for land, fast track approval and any backing any construction loan.

Employer may not offer health insurance directly they may reimburse employee expenses for such or related expenses if they so choose to offer such – drive the individual market, force people to see the bills. – not necessity per say just a thought.

FEU phase out, no new direct hiring of unionist labor.

BTW I know the IOU’s being issued as tax refunds is hilarious and all, but do you think the reverse would ever be allowed? Hey State of Ca, I know I owe you some money, but I’m a little low on cash at the moment can I just issue you an KH-IOU, you know like you did to me last year with the Arnold Bucks?

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander right?

What’s so hilarious is that TARP supplied banks are cashing the IOU’s for customers for the next two weeks, so if Arnold default’s on the notes… no worries he just accomplished a round about federal government bailout in part.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Six Illinois banks and one bank in Texas were shuttered Thursday as government regulators proposed new rules for private equity firms seeking to take over failed banks.

That brought the number of U.S. bank failures this year to 52.

That’s more than double the 25 which failed in all of 2008 and the three closed in 2007.

I would love to my hands on one of those IOUs to read the fine print.

My plan would be to offer .33c on the dollar, cash on the barrelhead. Banks might be accepting them right now, but like any scrip, eventually there has to be redemption. I of course holding, redeeming at face value. Fair element of risk, but aah the return.

Add Cap and Trade, add health care, add card check, add amnesty, are you kidding. Get yourself armed and at peace with the Lord.

An immediate positive effect on the economy would be to deport all illegal aliens and pay them $100,000 for each anchor baby they take with them.

Within a year, every state would have a surplus and could reduce taxes. The Dept of Homeland Security could be dissolved and the essential functions put back where they were before 9/11. Federal aid to hospitals, schools, colleges, federal housing, and prisons could be cut in half with corresponding tax cuts.

Of course, we might have to pick our own vegetables and spread our own pine needles, but that is a small price to pay, IMO.

bruce I won’t disagree that the country is in trouble. But O’s problems will be reflected in what the country is going through. Look CA is already issuing IOU’s. When CA can’t reach a budget the IOU’s may not be honored. Then what? Well now apply that to the country at large. At some point 3-5 years from now the US will be doing the same. Then how will the SEIU, corporations, ACORN and welfare hangers feel when all they can use the scrip for is wiping their backside?

People looking for economic advantage tend to forget that when it gets bad enough the advantage is not sufficient to keep them afloat. If the economy tanks to 30% unemployment they go down with it.
