A Summer “Out of Control”

Last week MFG wrote a post titled,
Another 1994 Is Brewing….

Gallup: Conservatives Outnumber Liberals in 47+ States.
Both posts were prescient of Charlie Cook’s analysis reported in today’s Politico:
Charlie Cook: Dem situation has ’slipped completely out of control’
“…the situation this summer has slipped completely out of control for President Obama and Congressional Democrats….consensus forming that the chances of Democratic losses going higher than 20 seats is just as good as the chances of Democratic losses going lower than 20 seats.”
“We believe it would be a mistake to underestimate the impact that this mood will have on Members of Congress of both parties when they return to Washington in September, if it persists through the end of the Congressional recess.”
Notice that he mentioned the impact on Members of Congress of both parties.
At RedState, Dan Perrin said,
Cook is so hyper-sensitive to criticizing his Democratic colleagues, he did not even use the words health care. Instead, he cited “August.”
Charlie Cook says in his emergency warning newsletter to the Democrats that his own estimates of a loss of 8 to 12 Dem House seats “are far too low.”
There are three people to blame for the Democrats’ “completely out of control” political situation: President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Waxman. Are they three horsemen of the Democratic Party Apocalypse? What’s your view?

Someone with good photoshop abilities should be able to run with this statement. It is excellent.
[2]
Who is the fourth? Schumer? Remember his quote? “The American people don’t care about these porky little bills,” or something like that?
[3]
Schumer or Reid.
[4]
Yes, Reid is unbelievable. Schumah is a lock for re-election no matter what he does, but Reid might end up pulling a Daschle….

I wish I could believe this, but GOP leaderships and, with a few exceptions, its members of Congress are cowards.
Right now Obama is badly wounded, yet most Republicans are in hiding rather than challenging ObamaCare, Cap and Trade and Obama’s other wild-spending plans.
[6]
I think we’ll have to look at the GOP locally, district by district, rather than considering national leaders.
[7]
Too many in the GOP want to move the party leftward, even though so many people are conservative.
[8]
Perhaps we can drag enough house GOPs to the conservative water and make them drink.
Then we can forget about the leaders. The senate will remain a toilet for the foreseeable future. We just have to take back the house to keep tax hikes, and amnesty, and cap/trade from passing.

Maybe its best that the people are doing this
Republican support might tarnish the protests, maybe this is a good thing…
[10]
Thanks for posting this INC. I thought Politico pulled it.
Anyhow, reading from Politco, Charles Mahtesian says this in his first paragraph on ‘The Scorecard”
Since I am a Conservative and therefore stubborn when it comes to unsubstantiated facts, the very first sentence caught my eye. I immediately went searching for the “facts” regarading this claim, but I didn’t have any luck. Cook just may indeed be ‘one of the best political handicappers in the business’, but without a hint how Mehtesian came to this conclusion, I will conclude that Cook is no better than any body else.
Hell, half the commenters on Conservative blogs have been saying 5-7 Senate seats and 40+ House seats for more than 3 months now. Perhaps Conservative groupthink is what is really needed here.
[11]
More out of control. From RedState:
It’s pretty bad when you have *Air America* calling you a liar, Mr. President
This is about the deal with PhRMA.
[12]
“Republican support might tarnish the protests, maybe this is a good thing…”
Or, maybe the GOP is just filled with cowards. You can count courageous Republicans on both hands.
[13]
More from Air America:
[14]
I can only hope that the Republican “leadership” is staying fairly quiet this Summer in order to let the American people take center-stage! If it IS a “plan”, then good on them…’cause it’s working. IF, on the hand, they are just being quiet because they’re wimps…then screw ‘em!
We will know when Congress re-convenes what the truth is!
[15]
Or, maybe the GOP is just filled with cowards.
That’s what it is.
You can count courageous Republicans on both hands.
I can count them on one. And I have the normal number of fingers and thumbs on each hand…..
[16]
INC – I believe that most of the left drank the kool aide years ago, but I also believe there is an element over there that is suspicious enough to question their own. May take a little longer for them to grow weary enough but when they see our protests, our concerns and how things are not matching up, they will make up.
Much like how parts of the right are suspicious of our own, parts of the left are similiar.
[17]
gnqanq, it was amazing to listen to the audio and hear AA call Obama a “charming liar”.
[18]
From Gateway Pundit:
[19]
INC – much like when parts of the right thought poorly of Bush.
Myself, I started becoming disillusioned right after 9/11 when the borders and ports were not secured. How could I take the war on terrorism seriously if we would not secure our borders and ports and KNOW who was in our country.
[20]
just saw this:
“Obama down to 45% approval in new Zogby poll”
I don’t care much for Zogby…but DAMN.
[21]
Myself, I started becoming disillusioned right after 9/11 when the borders and ports were not secured. How could I take the war on terrorism seriously if we would not secure our borders and ports and KNOW who was in our country.
Bushes don’t make for serious Presidents. Sorry. Better than Gore or Kerry? Certainly. But still a total flop by Reagan’s standards.
[22]
Yeah, absolutely the right point RWY. But the real thing to realize is except for the ‘94 blip when we won the congress (but then got skunked by the MSM plus Clinton) there has not been an elected conservative voice in this country for over 20 years! Nice guys but no better than Nixon sad to say were the Bushes. The country is thirsting for Ronaldus II. I’m praying it is Sarah but the opportunity is there and this filthy scum liberal cabal is giving us the chance!
[23]
The bottom line is at least I think we have a chance, whereas I was previously resigned to defeatist strategies.
