Fighting Back!

2009 August 4

Many, many Americans are fighting back against the policies of Obama and the Democrats.

This month on August 22nd:

Nationwide Recess Rally:  We the People Say No to Socialized Healthcare.

I know you’re also aware that there have already been town hall meetings with Congressional representatives being held to account as they are asked hard questions about the reckless path of tax, spending and government overreach they have been careening down. New videos seem to be going up all the time.  This is a thread to post links to new items you’ve read about or heard about.

Michelle Malkin has a link toTea Party Patriots who are listing protests and town hall meetings. I’m sure this list is only partial.  Call your local Congressional office to get a schedule in your area, call your local Republican office and/or connect with any Tea Party organizers.

This past weekend RedState held a conference in Atlanta to discuss, to network and to hear conservative speakers (who traveled there on their own dime).  They have been posting videos and information from the conference at their site.  This post contains the text of Liz Cheney’s speech:

“We have grave concerns about the path they’ve put us on.”

Go to their site and scroll down for videos and check the previous pages for older posts as well.

Great post INC! I heard on Laura Ingharam this morning that the Dems are trying to blame the protests at townhalls on the insurance companies. Elected officials ignore the will of the people at their peril (Oh, oh…I sound like RWY). Anyway, even the people who voted for Obama DID NOT VOTE for socialized medicine. Bottom line. We like being Americans. We don’t want to be Europe lite!

I have never been contacted by an insurance company (or anyone else, frankly) to attend a meeting in protest of socialized HC, taxes, [insert topic here]. Ever. Will I be attending one? Have I attended this year more than once? You betcha. Why? Because I am seeking out places to make MY voice heard. Other people are seeking as well, we all get together of our own free will. Fox news, insurance companies, the Rep party have NO say in where I go or for what reason. Sites/people giving us the locations is not the same thing as sites telling you to go because they have something to gain (and I don’t mean reform, I mean $). I would place a bet that 99.9% of those who have attended tea parties, et al can make the exact same statement I just made.

    Thanks for posting this, INC.

The nice thing about these teaparties and other protests are that they are grass roots, ignited by personal passions, and don’t seem to be under any prodding umbrella or organizational dictatorship, like the ones the dims are fond of orchestrating.

They are just like spring water, bubbling up from local ground swells, which don’t make them really politically containable. That is why the dims are resorting to diminish them through belittling or trying to ignore them all together, in hopes that they will simply “dry up.”

Jan, speaking of which……did you see Beck yesterday when he and Napolitano were talking about the Ohio TP on Saturday? Local papers reported 300 people in attendance, when the number was actually 10K. At some point they will have to realize that we don’t just surround them, we outnumber them! They cannot continue ignoring this. I loved your spring water analogy, because it is so true!

JM — You’ve got to be kidding me —> 300 versus 10 thousand!!!! That’s not partisan or biased…it is pure and simple DISHONEST REPORTING!!!!

No, to answer your question, I didn’t see, as you can tell! LOL

More for the tea parties/freedom gatherings to talk about:

Gregg, the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, asserted that programs like “cash for clunkers” would pile up to as much as 80 percent of the total U.S. economic output because of federal spending.

“We’re going to be like a banana republic in 10 years!” Gregg said during a panel discussion on CNBC. “Sure, Americans want the program. But if you stop and think about it, is it right to do for our children?”

Gregg complained that the Congress was “spending the money twice” to extend the rebate program for new, fuel-efficient cars by having taken the money out of Department of Energy loans allotted for automakers, but then obligating those funds to be replenished.

The term “banana republic” usually refers to countries that are politically and economically unstable, and run by a small, powerful group.

For those interested in the now infamous “socialism” poster, I’ve used Photoshop to create my own cleaned up version that fixes some of the small issues that bothered me with the other not-so cleaned up versions I’ve seen on the web.

    Socialism

Better download it now before the brown shirts come take it down. If there are specific things you want related to this poster I can probably whack it out in a short time.

Now to figure out how to cheaply print this deliciously subversive poster…

JM, that “Holy Smokes” link you gave died. Gives a server 500 error. Fortunately, I saved a snapshot in my browser just before it went away. I’ll try to put a new link up with the content. This can’t be missed.

Oh nevermind about JM’s link going away. Wish we could expunge posts here like the California Senate can expunge their votes.

BTW, I put JM’s link on my Facebook page and challenged friends to turn me into the White House. Something’s got to wake up the people…

I just found out (via a link on Hugh Hewitt) that Jackie Speier (D) San Francisco, is having a Town Hall near my house on August 23. I plan to be there with LOTS of questions!

OK, got them printed on self sticking shipping labels. Perfect for innocuous spots around town.

Time for a little subversive fun tonight.

I would stick one on my car, but I don’t care to pay $2000 to get the damage repaired by a deranged lefty — unless I can get some of that Cash for Clunkers money.

Justrand, unfortunately Speier is my congress critter as well. Are her public appearances town hall meetings? I just see some BS “Telephone” Town Hall meeting and two other appearances at events that don’t look like opportunities for the public to give feedback.

You wonder how the representatives can turn a deaf ear to the anger out there fomenting on health care, the Obama way!

The good news is that people are educated about what the public option is, which basically is a disaster for private insurance. One questioner noted that you could go on the Internet and get access to about 14,000 different health insurance quotes with reviews and so on. She wanted state portability. Driehaus, of course, ignored that part.

I just reported to flag(at)whitehouse.gov that there are individuals at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue that are engaging in a disinformation campaign about ObamaCare.

    MM also has this up:

    Issa goes Rahm-bo on Rahm

Following reports that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has been orchestrating an effort to intimidate members of Congress and Governors who raise legitimate concerns regarding the effectiveness of the stimulus, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) sent a letter to Emanuel saying “While this type of scare tactic may work In Chicago, it will not work to intimidate me or other Members of the United States Congress.”

From Hot Air, more pushback from the Democrats. They don’t like being reminded that We the People are their employers and that they answer to us!

DNC goes nuclear: Mobs of right-wing extremists are attacking our health-care town halls! Flashback: Obama tells cultists to “get in their faces”

    Don’t miss the update!

“I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,” he said.
