Is Canada’s Health Care Plan in Trouble?

SASKATOON — The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association says this country’s health-care system is sick and doctors need to develop a plan to cure it.

Dr. Anne Doig says patients are getting less than optimal care and she adds that physicians from across the country – who will gather in Saskatoon on Sunday for their annual meeting – recognize that changes must be made.

“We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize,” Doing said in an interview with The Canadian Press.

“We know that there must be change,” she said. “We’re all running flat out, we’re all just trying to stay ahead of the immediate day-to-day demands.”

Here’s newsbusters take.

The Obama Administration now says the public option isn’t a necessity. Howard Dean claims it is. Who do you trust, if anyone?

The media won’t even break a sweat alternately ignoring and spinning this news.

And Obama will just claim: “That’s just Canada…WE can do it better!
[totally randomally selected "Town Hall" crowd begins to chant: "Yes We Can"]

p.s. the AARP is not even pretending to NOT be backing ObamaCare. Folks, if you know ANYONE who is an AARP member, urge them to drop their membership immediately! EVERY SINGLE DISCOUNT availble thru them is available elsewhere…without being in the Democrat’s pocket!

One of our relatives who is an Obama supporter told my husband that our health care would be as good as Canada’s.

    True story.

The Socialist credo is based on shared misery. Socialism can only survive in a 2-class society. Ruling Elite & Proletariat.

The Socialist theory is that as long as the Proletariat can see that no one ELSE amongst their “Class” is better off, they will remain docile. The Proletariat is expected to accept the “perks” afforded the Ruling Elite, given the “burden” they bear in “caring for” the masses!

The Soviet Union and its Empire fell because their Proletariat KNEW a 3-Class society existed in the West…and thus could not be kept down forever. But if WE fall, then it is likely the whole world will devolve into a 2-Class society approach…and there will be NO 3-Class Society to inspire revolt.

Thus it was in the book ‘1984′.

The problem for the O crowd is their health care credo has to collapse. Nor will funding be the problem that does it. (though it could) If one assumes that occupational choices remain free then it all become unhinged in about 20 years. Just like Canada is now. Three distinct components –

Beginning. Those that were considering a medical career will come to the realization that to put the 12-15 years of prep, to have the next 20-30 years capped financially is not worth the debt, risk, and pain for all the personal inputs. So they will look to other occupations.

In-System. Those that are residents, or just finished residency will be somewhat stuck. Their incomes will be fine for a while but as the caps take hold they will consider alternatives. Maybe make a geographical move. Or if they are further along in their career moving into teaching.

About to Retire. Those doctors that are close to considering retirement will accelerate their exit. Flush the medical rat race and go sip Mai-Tai’s in Belize.

Number of oars in the medical waters will be the ultimate undoing. When there are not enough hands to perform the services because the govt perturbed the market, collapse is guaranteed.

Well duh. With the US about to create socialized medicine where are well healed Canadians going to go for their treatment. This is only occurring to them now?

Wouldn’t it be a riot if the Canadians were next blamed for astroturfing the town hall meetings. I could see a pretty funny SNL skit written where a bunch of Canadians pretend to be Americans to defeat socialized medicine so they still have a place to go.
