In what has to be economic equivalent of a Willie Horton moment, the Feds send out checks to Cons. Not even released ones, but Cons still in prison!
Federal economic stimulus cash was handed out to cons behind bars in Bay State prisons after a bureaucratic snafu resulted in $250 checks being sent to some inmates – and now red-faced feds want it back.
“Taxpayers already believe the inmates are running the asylum in Washington,” U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) said in a statement. “Now it appears they are being compensated for their efforts.”
Not only did the feds send the cash to incarcerated cons, but they failed to respond to state officials who sounded the alarm about the inmate windfall – now the subject of a national probe.
The state Department of Correction initially withheld stimulus checks mailed to 23 inmates because prison officials believed the convicts were not entitled to the cash, said DOC spokeswoman Diane Wiffin.

If one were to have hidden the cash they stole so that when they got out of prison they had money to live on, then the government gave them a check before they got out to spend what they stole in the first place…..does this count as interest? Return on investment? Would prison be like a long term CD?

On the radio today, they were talking about cash for appliances. It seems that they have allocated $300 million for this with $30 million (10%) for planning purposes on how they (the states) are going to do this. Just more slush for the states.

He was always a lefty at heart– never voted republican till after 9/11. 9/11 turned him for a few years. For a wihle the most clear, strong voice on the web against islamofascism.

Sorry to hear about LGF. I followed it a few years ago, but more recently only checked in on it very infrequently. It was my impression many there seemed to like Palin, but perhaps I was mistaken.
