It’s not dead, it’s resting. As long as the Dems have 57 Senators and a house majority, it’s not dead.

Nothing is certain. It looks dead. But like amnesty, it will always be back.

    Not dead.

Reid is just lying out of both sides of his mouth.

RedState has this: Harry Reid Plays Washington Two Step And Gets Caught

Today Harry Reid sent out a press release to the national media praising Senator Baucus for his new proposal on health care reform….

While Reid was praising Baucus to the national press corp, in Nevada he sent out a press release severely critical of the Baucus plan and said it was a raw deal for Nevada.

Reid is obviously hoping that no one in Nevada uses the internet or can figure out that he lies.

    Look at the differences:

No sooner than the Senate Finance Committee’s chairman released his long-awaited health care bill today than Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said it’s not good enough for Nevada.

    vs.

I appreciate Chairman Baucus’ hard work over the past several months. His proposal is another important piece to the puzzle and brings us a step closer to having a comprehensive health insurance reform bill on the Senate floor.

Well the pronouncement from Dingy Harry posses this question — was it intended for local consumption or national?

Personally I think he was trying to play to the hometown crowd. Las Vegas is way down on tourists, consequently the local economy is in the tank. So he was trying to prop up his numbers by pitching he is against the bill.

    Just my guess…

Reid is a little old, and the Internet too pervasive, to be able to pull this bullshit off.

He has two other major problems in trying to do this:
    (1) he is the freaking Senate MAJORITY Leader…so HE controls the agenda. Bringing a Bill of this nature to the floor for passage under “Reconciliation” is gonna require the DIRECT involvement of the Senate MAJORITY Leader…aka Dingy Harry
    (2) Harry serisouly pissed off the major newspaper in Las Vegas not long ago…and I don’t think they’re inclined to forgive him!

KH, she launched the last missile before O was to deliver a speech. Now he is going to do the round of the Sunday shows this weekend. So what better time to provide the counter argument than say Friday Noon. All the chatter builds up on the blogs on Saturday. Then the only questions that get thrust at him are entreaties for rebuttal to what Palin said on Sunday. His message gets drowned out as a consequence.

Reid is just figuring he can make one announcement in Washington D.C. supporting it, and the other in Nevada OPPOSING it. His rationale is that by the time the Pony Express riders make it across the full width of the country (average 8 days) the voting will be over!

Ive done 80 square on 2 roofs, in 2005, and 2006, and I am done roofing. It’s fun to shingle, but all the other work sucks. Making a mess in the yard, cleaning it up, hauling it off and dumping it, re-trimming the house, bulling (tarring) and all that is a drag.

Shingling is more fun, with a nailgun of course, but even that gets old after 3 days straight.

did exactly ONE roofing job in my life. while working as an apprentice glazer between my first two years of college.

Head boss man decided he wanted the entire warehouse roof re-tarred & papered. then re-graveled.

My job was to take every bit of the old gravel off…then strip the old paper where it was loose. then help the professional do the re-tar and re-paper. THEN I got to re-spread TONS of gravel.

Worst week of my life, work wise. Especially shoveling all the gravel into great big empty oil drums, and the fork-lifting it all down off the roof…then reversing the process.

I think I’ll go throw up just from the memories!

mpt, my sympathy on the roof repair. I slung hot tar up a roof in buckets for a summer job once. Vowed never to do roofing ever again.

I did hot roof in Virginia when I was a teenager. Some creep hired us to go to Alexandria with him. He then wanted us to skip out on the hotel room. We didn’t cooperate. Then we slaved on the roof. I remember the a-hole foreman was on the ground operating the tar melter. I was on the roof filling a bucket with the tar and I spilled it on him down on the ground. That was not intended. When we got back to Va. Beach it took us a month or so of stalking the guy to get paid.

I remember walking around on that built up tar roof smelling that crap and mopping tar. My shoes were collecting that tar and debris on the soles and every hour or so it would build up so thick I felt I was on stilts. Id have to stop and chip it off.

To this day I can smell that tar a mile away if I encounter it and it takes me back there to that hell and makes me want to puke.

Thanks guys. We had an early rain in the Bay Area and my roof sprung a number leaks. Turns out a while back damn squirrels crawled up under the clay tiles and tore into and took the underlying tar paper — presumably to line their own nests. I decided to do the repair work myself to save several thousand dollars. The work isn’t technically hard, but man, it’s back breaking manual labor. Well, now I know why it would cost several thousand dollars :-) . Anyway, it’s giving me a chance to take care of other maintenance.

Read all the comments on this thread and I tend to agree with yahoo, that HC is resting.

Reid’s comments just seemed too orchestrated to me, like he was pandering to Nevada, now that his numbers are tanking with both of the republican candidates opposing him in his reelection bid. It’s all about saving himself, at the moment. When he feels “safe” again he will go back to being the back-stabber that he is.

That rain you talked about was a hard rain above you on the North coast. I can see why your roof leaked.

Also, if you have a tile roof I think those are the hardest and most expensive to repair or replace.

When I was in college, my freshman year was less that stellar. Not flunking out, but mediocre straight C’s. The following summer got a job as a laborer working with a bunch a carpenters who were pretty tough on me. The job taught me some important lessons and when I went back to college I was able to apply myself so I graduated with high honors. Hard as the job was, it provided pretty good motivation to get my act together.

Actually, the damage occurred a few years ago and I had since put up mesh to keep them out. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see the damage they inflicted until I removed the tiles a few days ago. Those rascals can do a LOT of damage. As you suggest, they must be freeloading hippy Democrat squirrels.

    -hotair:

According to reliable sources, Obama administration officials are on their way to Poland and the Czech Republic to deliver very bad news. The administration intends to cancel completely the missile defense sites that had been promised to these governments by the previous administration. This represents a complete capitulation to Russia’s Vladimir Putin, who had demanded that the proposed deployments be halted as a price for improved relations. Ironically, the Obama administration, which is appeasing Russia in the hopes that Moscow will help put pressure on Iran, has made this mammoth concession just a few days after Moscow declared that it had no intention of supporting sanctions against Iran.

Nice huh… wonder what fun will be in store next summer.
