The move to proceed needs 60 votes to start debate. After the motion is approved, Sen. Reid will offer Obamacare as a complete substitute to the unrelated House-passed bill. This means that the entire healthcare reform effort will be included as an amendment to a TARP bill that has been collecting dust in the Senate for months.

It is an interesting way of passing health care.

Problem is I haven’t heard and Dem say they would do this. Have they? I missed it if they have.

Second, Harry Reid is in enough trouble in Nevada. IS he willing to stick his neck out further with this type of manuever?

And Number C, I can’t believe all the Dems would go along with this in the Senate. Not just Blance Smith, but even Bayh and Nelson would not be accomodating. Would they?

BTW, Rush spent his first hour hammering on the shenanigans the Dems may try to pull to pass HC. I certainly hope he’s wrong, but we shall see.

Los Angeles goes after building owners because of graffiti, instead of going after the perps. Typical lefty bs.

Ok, I don’t really care to admit it, but I was born in Los Angeles, so I have been around the blocks a few times. LA county has done nothing to curtail graffiti-ever. They even went as far as installing “graffiti boards” in state and county buildings, on buses, on park benches, etc., instead of arresting the creeps. How hard would it be to catch these guys? They sign their stupid names to their crap.

They gave into them and let them trash the whole city. In fact, graffiti is one of the reasons I left the state. Sorry for the rant, its a pet peeve of mine.

Interesting approach but its counting the chickens a little early is it not? Max Headroom’s plan is not out of committee yet. The other problem is how would House Dims react?

That is an interesting point. I bet there ae many Democrats who are hoping for some sort of Republican support so they can say ‘It wras going to pass with or without my support anyway.’

Too bad for them Romney and Jindal aren’t senators.

If they pull off what they are suggesting, this gives House Dims lots of cover. “Hey I did not approve passing the bill that way! Reid pulled a fast one here. I am a victim!” You can hear it passing their lips on the stump…

  14. 2009 September 30 1:00 pm

. The other problem is how would House Dims react? mutley

They might have a way out of even voting for HC at all, because the senate HC will be an amendment to an already passed house bill, thereby allowing them to dodge the bullet altogether.

The lead story in this week’s Automotive News is “Life on Saturn” It’s up to Penske.” In it, a number of Saturn dealerships (retailers as they like to call themselves) were discussing how excited they were about the future.

In a former life about 12 years ago, I was marketing director responsible for the Saturn account. People in the Saturn Division were almost fanatical, the cars were junk and the majority of owners were crackpots: hardly a receipe for success. GM poured billions down that rathole.

GM plans to cut 2,400 dealers (in addition to the 371 Saturn retailers). A amjority of Cadillac dealerships will lose their franchises. How many combination used car dealerships/service centers can this country support.

On a positive note, “Going Rogue” just took the #1 spot away from Brown at It’s been #1 at Barnes & Nobel since yesterday. And, the book won’t even be shipped for another seven weeks. Do you think this instant success will create even greater demand for pre-sale? Could it be possible the initial 1.5 print will be sold before the book officially goes on the market?

Liberal and RINO heads must be exploding. Sarah probably sold more books in the first hour after the announcement than David Frum sold his entire life. The books success definitely will not make her any more popular with elitists.

It’s just a shame she’s such an unqualified, washed up woman that no one cares about.

I remember about about 15 years ago when I was living in SoCal. Some group got the approval to run PSAs and plaster anything and everything that the city or county owned with various posters of babies along with huge banners underneath that stated simply “FUTURE CHILD MOLESTER?” OR “FUTURE WIFE BEATER?” and others.

Of course, all the babies were white. I remember calling the transit system and telling them that what they were doing was racist. I guess they got a lot of complaints, because they weren’t up for very long.

Anyway, the group in your link no doubt spent countless hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars to come to the same conclusion that the group in Los Angleles simply assumed–all men are wife beaters, but white men probably do it the most.

Vote every B!#@$% that voted for it out regardless of party. Get people who state that their sole mandate is to repeal the law. Vote them in. The law does not take affect till after 2012. But it will take a grass roots campaign.

Other alternative is to mount a campaign for an amendment that specifically states that Congress shall pass no law that contains individual mandates and make it retroactive.

Hey now, my 98 SC saturn ran for 10 years (160K m+) more or less problem free (still running actually for a friend of mine), and I’m not a crackpot… just a tea-bagging racist member of the VRWC. All R’s except Snowe voted Against the Individual Mandate…..

    All D’s voted for it….of course…..

This is NOT a good result……If Snowe voted for it, then she is likely to vote for a Fake “compromise” bill with mandates…..and will vote for closure with D…..

Well, the true supporters of some version of Obamacare cant hide now – they will push the defacto takeover with the Individual Mandate!

This is a very dangerous period because Nationalization will still occur even without an overt government run insurance plan like this “public option” provision everyone keeps fixating on – Wyden/Bennett and the Bacus bill are prime examples of this.

Here are the core elements what will be contained in the “health care reform compromise” after the so-called “public option” is in all likelihood dropped:

    (a) Federal Regulation aka HEALTH CZAR/DEATH PANELS
    (b) Employer/Individual Mandates aka NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE
    (c) Government Subsidies aka MIDDLE CLASS MEDICAL WELFARE

With the Federal Government setting the rules, forcing everyone to participate, and is paying the bills for most of the middle class through subsidies how is this anything other than Nationalization?

(There is a great CATO study about how the takeover will work without a public option or COOP)

People need to be up in arms about this – they need to Flood Senator Snowe’s email, etc to get her to change this vote NOW!

Also, the so-called “blue dogs” need to be targeted too – they need to know we are on to their support for a de facto takeover…..

We are in bad shape I fear now – Rahm E is likely right and we are on track to pass this so-called “bi-partisan compromise” – but at least we know what is going on now and can mount a reaction….

The conservative print media has had several great features and is leading the charge against the Obamacare bill but he has spoken out directly against these Individual Mandates – I just wish the rest of the conservative media would get a clue and catch on soon before its too late….

We should be attacking these Individual Mandates daily on radio and TV TOO! Conservatives – please continue to do your utmost to alert the conservative media and the GOP Senators and Representatives about what is going on here with Obamacare!

This is the “bridge over” or foot in the water they need to get to fully socialized medicine!

And the Individual Mandate should be an easy target for conservatives and the GOP to attack since Obama has done a huge 180 from his campaign promises!

From the mouth of then Candidate Obama:

“If you look at auto insurance, in California there’s mandatory auto insurance,” Obama explained. “Twenty-five percent of the folks don’t have it. The reason is because they can’t afford it. So John and I, we’re not that different in this sense; that I’m committed to starting the process. Everybody who wants it can buy it and it’s affordable. If we have some gaps remaining, we will work on that. You take it from the opposite direction, but you’re still going to have some folks who aren’t insured under your plan, John, because some of them will simply not be able to afford to buy the coverage they’re offered.”

Can we see some flip-flop or liar adds please?

Why are we blowing this golden opportunity to stop Obamacare in its tracks?

Someone in the GOP Senate caucus also needs to talk some sense into Senator Snowe immediately too!

I hope we can pick up the pace here – a 100 year reign of socialized medicine would not be good for anyone’s health.
