For something a little more sobering: Revealed: The ghost fleet of the recession

I wonder one can monitor the size of the ghost fleet to get a rough approximation of when the economy will eventually turn over.

I’ve been away from the computer for most of the day. I was hoping I wouldn’t turn it on and find out Joe Wilson gave into pressure and agreed to apologize on the floor of the House.

This is the dream scenario: Wilson asks to make as statement on the House floor, then comes out swinging, this time with proof in hand that Obama was indeed lying–by showing the relevant portions of the healthcare bill itself.

Wilson will lose some serious cool points if he apologizes on the house floor…..I agree he should come out swinging!

Here is an idea for the tenor of the speech that Joe Wilson might give on the floor.

Have you read or have any idea what the House can actually do to Wilson if they attempt a censure? I think it amounts to basically nothing at all, but it may give him an chance to speak on the floor in rebuttal. That could be his moment in the sun.

I hope he takes it…and he can even take the high road! Simply bring a fresh new Amendment to the Bill, one that expressly excludes ALL illegal aliens in the country…and expressly excludes them for consideration under this or any other HelathCare Bill for a period of 10 years, REGARDLESS of any amnesty granted them!

    something like that.

Then simply say…”Pass this Amendment into Law…and I will apologize once again!

    or some such

Back to the 9/12 event, as I haven’t been around much this weekend to comment…

There is a wonderful picture on Power Line that shows an aerial shot of the “masses.” What a huge number of people!

How big was the crowd? Link

I’m surprised there aren’t any cruise ships yet as part of the ghost fleet. Perhaps they keep them somewhere else.

Funny video! Of course IT always gets its butt kicked even with superior resources. Sales can always gin up more revenue and hire more consultants.

I put the picture directly in, janzam…WOW!

Folks, this is AFTER the march, as the rally itself began. Go back and compare it to the picture from the thread “For the sake of argument”. Note that THAT picture shows clusters of people from the Inauguration…this is WALL-TO-WALL people over the same distance.

    Thx, janzam!

Okay, so was/is there a more or less official “final count” of just how many attended the 9/12 rally?

Jan, or anyone else who might know?

Thanks for posting the picture directly, Justrand. It is an amazing sight…reminds me of the million plus crowd in Tehran after their elections — an endless sea of people!

Also, I enjoyed clicking through the numerous pictures of the 9/12 event posted in an earlier thread. I was so proud of each and every one of the attendees. Also, the fact that they left the grounds as they found them (something my dad taught me), was wonderful too!

I would be concerned as to who is guarding those vessels. A terrorist could do serious damage with the right size ship sunk in the right set of straits….

I’ve only seen “guess-estimates,” ranging from a low of 50,000 (gag) to upwards of 2 million. Maybe as this whole event is processed a more “scientific” method of measuring the numbers will surface.

While I’m on the subject of 9/12, here is another youtube video of it. Apparently there were no press helicopters to record the event (surprise, surprise), but some people were able to get a few comprehensive crowd shots in.

I hate to say this, but the photo above was not from yesterday. I have read that it is from the Promise Keepers rally in the 1990s (which had more men there than the so-called Million Man March). If you recall, other video and photos from yesterday show that is was overcast yesterday. In this photo the sun is shining.

I saw this photo yesterday and even read the rumor that Lefty blogs were circulating it as a sort of “gotcha”. The post Power Line linked to has been corrected now.

This is no way diminishes the actual numbers.

I thought perhaps that the DC Park Service was sort of the “last official word” on attendance.

Didn’t know if they weighed in yet. Still, an impressive turnout to say the least.

And if PP libby reaction postings are any indication, we’ve made all the right people mad & upset (read that as fear on display)

A good show! Now hopefully more can be done to build on the momentum.

Collins comes out against any public option including a trigger. Snowe wants the public option dumped and even though she threw the trigger option out there, I doubt she would go against Collins on this. I think Obamacare is stuck in the abyss. The longer it gets pushed out, the public will grow increasingly tired of it and more people will go against it. I have thought Obamacare was dead since nothing got passed prior to the Congressional recess. The Democrats have no votes to break a filabuster on the public option via party line (59 votes) in the Senate and Dorgan, Lincoln, Landrieu, Specter, Johnson (S.D), Tester, Baucus, Nelson, Begich, basically any Dem in a conservative state won’t want to vote for this either because it would kill their careers as well. The Blue Dogs (44 on record as being against the current bill) will likely continue to say no because a vote for it would kill their political careers and besides, it would get killed in the Senate anyway so why vote? Unless something drastic happens, look for the Congress to scrap healthcare legislation unless Pelosi really wants to make the Dems more toxic than they are already. Impending checkmate on the political chessboard.

Since were back on Healthcare, I submit the following that shows not only is Obama the second coming of Jimmy Carter, but that the Democrats have been trying to scare the American public into accepting nationalized health care for over 30 years. They werent buying it then, and hopefully another person like the one debating Carter can come along, and lead America back to true greatness.

Obama’s approval/disapproval fell from last month in the Washington POst/ABC News poll!

His approval on healthcare is still only 48/48.

“Which of these comes closest to your own view: (The more I hear about the health care plan, the more I like it) or (The more I hear about the health care plan, the less I like it).”

Obama scores a 41/54….even Clinton was doing better at this point with a 44/51 rating in 2/1994.

These numbers are devestating when you consider the poll sampled more liberals (24%) than Republicans (21%), hahahah.

    phoenix,

I hope you are right. However I expect some piece of trash will get passed if only for the expedient that ‘we passed a bill on health care’. The cracks in the Dim blocs are showing. If they can’t get HC passed then the extreme left wing splinters off probably to go to the Greens. They probably also lose face with the NOW crowd as well.

Oh and don’t forget the money! Lets see, the gamble that Pharma made would be toast without HC. Then of course there would be the loss to the unions and ACORN. And the funniest of all would be GE. They bet big on government intervention. It would be really be funny watching MSNBC/NBC running around rudderless with no clear propaganda signal to pitch.

Nope. Dims have to pass something even if its just a house resolution of principle.
