Britney Spears and Boys (not) In Balloons
“The magician and the politician have much in common: they both have to draw our attention away from what they are really doing.” Ben Okri
A magician has to create a distraction and time it to his or her palming the coin, replacing the card, or releasing the dove concealed in their coat. When we go to a magic show we KNOW this…and so we try to ignore the distraction, and focus where we think the trick is occurring!
In America these days we FOCUS on the distraction! Our politicians know that fact, and so can count on someone or something creating their distraction for them! Rahm Emanuel and the boys “never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” And they never “waste” a distraction either. And our “beloved” media are only too happy to focus on the distraction as well…for it gives them an excuse to avoid reporting the news they were going to avoid reporting anyway!
WE, and our partners around the Conservative side of the Internet need to stay focused. It’s no fun for the other “patrons”, but we need to be that person shouting out: “Hey, he slipped the card up his sleeve!” Because they aren’t “cards”, they’re whole sections of our Constitution…and they’re not “magicians”, they’re a runaway Government bent on dominating every aspect of our lives.
Someone has to let America know “what they are REALLY doing”.

[1]
The distractions are only working to a point. Obmaa is into negative double digits (-10) again in the Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll (49/50 overall).
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/obama_approval_index_history
[2]
Hence Glenn Beck. Even Rush has not done as fine a job of shining a light on these people as he has.
They are marxist revolutionaries, they are criminals, they hate the constitution. More people are becoming aware of it, but not enough, as of yet. Many still think it’s hyperbole or they openly support it.
[3]
spot on, gents…spot on!
The American people are getting tired of the “act”…and their patience IS wearing thin. Hence the poll numbers.
Glenn Beck and others are indeed pulling back the stage-curtains and showing the mechanics of some of the “tricks”…which is why the media attacks BECK. They want the show to continue…Obama is their “magician”.
Lastly, I think, hope, PRAY the American people are fed up with Obama doing what he did again on Thursday: blaming Bush!
[4]
Fox needs to move Beck to BOR’s spot.
He has already passed Hannity and is only behind BOR.
He would pull MONSTROUS numbers if he had his time slot.
[5]
This attack on Fox by the maoist communist harpy Anita Dunn may be the first shot fired in the war on free speech by the Right. She has no problem worshiping at the throne of a killer of tens of millions, I put nothing past these people.
This White House is as evil as they come. It is only a matter of time.
I ain’t gittin on the train.
[6]
Anita Dunn told Jake Tapper: “I was just joking”
Damn…the White House will jetison her for being a BAD LIAR!
She wove Mao into her entire remarks…and QUOTED him. Joking? Bullshit!

Hence Glenn Beck. Even Rush has not done as fine a job of shining a light on these people as he has. — RWY
Agreed. Beck does an excellent job connecting the commie dots. But lets be fair to Rush. Beck has the advantage of video that Rush lacks. You know, a picture is worth a 1000 words, etc.
Now what those two ought to do? Drag Dennis Miller in and do a comedy-political road tour. All three of them can be pretty funny at times so it would not be hard for them to pull something together of the style of say the Blue Collar Comedy Tour.
[10]
I think race has been more of a distraction than any celeb or balloon boy. Race and feeling words like hate or mean. Stop focusing on facts and get back to your feelings! Who cares if your kid can’t add, how do they FEEL about their crappy addition skills? Mr. Obama, why do people “hate you”? They must be weawwy mean people! Yes little timmy they are mean…..no mention of why people are actually upset, like say- the policies he enacts that are hellbent on the destruction of America. Can’t have the masses thinking, must get them in touch with their feelings!

My #10 comment reminded me of my daughter’s “creative spelling” in elementary school. It made kids too sad when they couldn’t spell words correctly, so they were told to spell words however they thought the words should be spelled. My daughter is a terrible speller even still, and it didn’t matter how much undoing we did at home, at school the reward was much greater for doing whatever the hell you wanted.

I would leave BOR’s show where it is ans switch time slots with either Hannity or Shep (preferably Hannity as his show has become unwatchable). At 9 PM Beck could become one of the most widely watched shows on television (not just cable news, but all of television).
[16]
Another way the facts/news is diverted is simply ignore them.
The sound on the video clip is choppy at the beginning, but evens out later on.

I have a better proposition for you! Move Beck to the local 10pm slot opposite Leno. NBC is betting the farm that Leno can pull them out financially in that time slot. I think Beck could blow Leno away. We could then watch the NBC property crumble to be picked up by Rupert Murdoch for a song.
That leg tingle that Chrissy Mathews gets, would be for a pink slip this time.

GAAH! No freaking way is my son getting that vaccine. What is the main cause of the type of cervical cancer Gardasil protects from? Multiple sex partners. Keep your legs closed/ fly zipped! My kids are going to hear when the time is right about the cancers/diseases resulting from gross promiscuity, because God knows that emotional ties/baggage isn’t enough to scare kids anymore. Anyhow, it wouldn’t matter if my son was vaccinated if the girl he was sleeping with was slutty….because she would get that cancer regardless. Why take a chance on my son’s physical health (sterility, neurological disorders, death!) to maybe prevent a cancer in a girl who may not have been having safe sex? Stupid stupid stupid.
Hell no. Not with this type of vaccine anyway! Not when the prevention (same result!) for the other person means that they don’t sleep around!
[21]
Good article, drdog, on the growth of the tea party movement. But, it’s also makes me more than a little uneasy when they compare it’s strength, as well as divisiveness, to Ross Perot.
We all know what happened to those of us who voted for Ross Perot —> we got Bill Clinton.
For instance, the more I read on the NY-23 election it looks like Owens definitely has an advantage because of the vote-splitting that will go on between the liberal R candidate and Hoffman. With both Bill Clinton and Obama going in to campaign for Owens, and if he wins, it will be seen as a feather in the cap of Obama which they can then spin as, “we still have the people’s good will in our hands.”
That’s not beneficial in stemming Obama’s reach for power.

This is a most excellent idea, course you’d have to be fairly intelligent to understand most of the jokes, so would not have generic mass appeal.

On NY-23 I’d vote for conservative party Hoffman or frankly vote for the DEM, there is no point in voting for a person who is nothing more than a Dem in R district running with an R after there name. Shades of Bloomberg, enough already, I mean she talked with both parties when deciding who to run as… I mean really? This is not a cino situation it is the ultimate example of a true rino, the fact the rnc is backing this is all you need to know about the state of the party – six letter word.

Jan,
The Perot effect is possible again. Won’t deny it. But I think a couple of things down play it this time –
* Independents were a small component of the electorate back in ‘92. They are more than double that now. Fact if independents started their own party it would be bigger than either of the other two.
* The Internet has made organizing a heck of alot easier now. Assembling a crowd is just hitting your Twitter list.
* The legacy party have really damaged their brands over the last 16 years. Even many who are registered with either party are weak affiliated.
NY-23 I think is the best test case we could have to see if a strong grass roots independent can whoop some legacy political organization.
I’ll say this. I have generally been a big Newt fan. His endorsement of the Rep candidate makes me want to sell off all his books and not buy another.

NY-23 is the example of what hangs in the balance in 2010. We have 2 liberal candidates battling for power for Reps and Dems. And we have the conservative candidate who may well give the race to the dems. But even if the dems win, there is an upside and that is this: If the conservative wins, we have sent a message to the GOP. If the Dem wins, we have sent a message to the GOP. If the Rep wins, the GOP writes off our efforts as useless.
If the Dem wins this seat, the GOP may have to finally except that the American people are willing to watch their party die and take on the Dems on their own terms.
[55]
Mussolini then…???
Heh. Every time I see O strike a certain upchin pose he reminds me of Mussolini. Fact both have some of the same body language traits.

Exactly!
Better to do this in 2010 than later. We find out whether reform is possible in the RNC or Conservatives need to strike out on their own.

NY-23 I think is the best test case we could have to see if a strong grass roots independent can whoop some legacy political organization.
That is probably why I am so uneasy about this race, as it is just that —> a grass roots “test case.”
Politics is definitely changing. With people going the Independent-route, in such massive numbers, it makes political outcomes less predictable, which in turn increases the temperature and tension at election time.
If Hoffman can turn this thing around and actually win, the grass routes movement will have rooted itself more firmly in the terra firma of being a legitimate power base. If Hoffman loses, I fear it will be viewed as just another case of a weak 3rd party divisive’s meddling, which will, by extension, erode some of the tea party’s immediate credibility, hurting their push-back of HC.
HC is such an important issue at the moment, that I view everything’s worth through the lens “will it help or hurt the passage of HC.”
I’ll say this. I have generally been a big Newt fan. His endorsement of the Rep candidate makes me want to sell off all his books and not buy another.
I was really surprised by Newt’s public endorsement of the Rep candidate. He has always seemed to me as a non-conforming republican, not easily sucked into personalities-over-priciples kind of actions. Guess I was wrong. Too bad…..can’t really trust his words anymore.

Jan,
I am more inclined to TLS viewpoint in 54. But events can be viewed many ways. So the RNC could reach the conclusion you allude to of another failed 3rd party attempt. What the Reps can’t escape is that even if NY-23 is a squeaker and the Dim loses, the party cannot assume they have a solid conservative base for their slate. That directly impacts their battleground state strategy as well.
[70]
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought that might be it!

Unreal. These people are incapable of rational thought.

“So the RNC could reach the conclusion you allude to of another failed 3rd party attempt. What the Reps can’t escape is that even if NY-23 is a squeaker and the Dim loses, the party cannot assume they have a solid conservative base for their slate. ” -drdog
You hit the heart of it, drd. The Reps continue to do what they have always done because we continue to do what we have always done. We are still discussing the value of RINO’s. But what happens if WE stop following that game plan?
[75]
MFG, did you see Oak Leaf’s post earlier this week?
What an embarrassment for Poli….. He typed “Republicans are the new leeches” because we will not jump back into the stock market with both feet.
Well, many have, I have not, I own a few individual stocks, and have bought some gold and silver to protect my dollars, and I have some other funds that are munis, which I am nervous about…. only about half my money is sitting there doing nothing, and I need to do something with it, just can’t make my mind up….
I know that even the socialist Euros have stock markets and they do go up. But I am afraid that much of the profit being reported now is false, based on bailouts and an attempt to re-inflate the bubble. I am not sure it will hold up, and I am afraid that the dollar’s plunge may overtake it.
Oak Leaf does not care about any of this, he only wants to pad his liberal credentials…..
Anyway, Poli posts so much now, that Oak’s crap does not stay up for long….Do you think Poli is posting so much because he got laid off and is now trying to revive his site for income reasons?
Just speculation, I wouldn’t know obviously….
[76]
He used the word “maggots”
Good God…
[77]
I would guess he’s trying to save the site, but the way to do that is to run off JokeLeaf
[78]
Poli lost it when he ran off Drummond and the rest of the old gang. Drummond was a divisive writer but that was part of the draw I guess. Many of the longest threads on that site were his.
[79]
Drummond wrote just to hear himself and not to engage in dialogue with others; Lorie Byrd was great as was Jason
You run off Lorie Byrd and Keep JokeLeaf…????
[80]
I thought he lost it when he brought Oak Leaf back. The site was humming until then….
Sending Drummond packing and the rest was a good thing. Those guys, (Javitz, Byrd, McClure, Drummond) were all r party hacks who would have voted for Obama if he’d been an R.
They were all pro-amnesty. Drummond in particular was running Poli right off his own site with his enormous posts.
Drummond is still a Bush/Rove fanboy, and Javitz goes around calling amnesty opponents racists, from what I can tell. McClure and Byrd run blogs no one comments on.
Poli was true to conservatism when he ran those people off. remember Javitz backing Delay saying the budget was tight as a drum, and that the deficit spending was fine because that is how power is held onto?
Everyone like Sparxx
Varones
Ace
Poli was probably the most liberal of the bunch, until Ace left because JokeLeaf came back, and it’s been all downhill from there.
But hey, we have BJG because of it! Good times!
[81]
I went over to wizbang in 2007 during the amnesty debate and wrote a post denouncing Bush over amnesty…
Drummond called me a Hillary supporter, and told me to get out of the R party.
LOL. Me a Hillary supporter. Yeah, shows you what Drummond knows.
Drummond tooted his own horn, never listened to anything anyone else ever said.
Drummond supported amnesty, and would have been shocked, shocked! to see texas turned deep blue.
Drummond was not too bright, I don’t think….
[82]
Yes, it all resulted in good
[83]
the Obama attack dogs (Axelrod and Emanuel) apparently stayed on message on the Sunday morning talk shows: ATTACK FoxNews.
the Obama Regime KNOWS FoxNews is the only outlet for ANY balancing of news, or balancing of coverage OF the news.
by discrediting FoxNews they try to prepare future defensive positions based on: “Oh, that’s just FoxNews”
the entire media EXCEPT FoxNews ignored the ACORN child prositution enabling until Congress got involved. The NY Times had to present to their readers a very big news event (Congress declaring an end to ACORN funding) yet hide the fact that they had ignored it until then. Luckily for the NY Times their readers are the dimmest of the dim.
[84]
And Oak Leaf is revealed as someone who is brain-injured, deeply, irreparably insane…
So that is good, too.
[85]
Let them attack Fox, boosts their ratings
[86]
rwy: “But hey, we have BJG because of it! Good times!”
I agree…and thx to all ya’ll we ALL have this site humming along!! Cheers..and thx!

[88]
RWY,
Now I can agree with some of your observations on the personalities and even the political leanings. But what draws a better crowd? Watching a lacross match or a 12 car pile up on I-5 North? Drummond was the latter. Love’m or hate’m he knew how to draw a crowd like flies on a week old chicken parts.
[89]
special election is a test case for nothing I say.
[90]
He has fairly serious psychiatric problems in my opinion and I hope he gets the help he needs
[91]
Dr, Drummond and company was exhibit A in the “Case of the disappearing R party”….
[92]
That is probably why I am so uneasy about this race, as it is just that —> a grass roots “test case.”
Jan, I guess we all have our different perspectives. What makes you feel uneasy is what gives me hope. As mentioned above, we got to get off the old game plan if we have any hope of change. Of course, there is always the possibility of failure. However, without the possibility of failure there is no possibility of success.
[93]
“Byrd run blogs no one comments on”

Her posts at wizbang get plenty of comments.

special election is a test case for nothing I say.
Well, in the most likely scenario it just reinforces whatever point of view you have to begin with.
[95]
Those guys, (Javitz, Byrd, McClure, Drummond) were all r party hacks who would have voted for Obama if he’d been an R.
RWY, I believe you nailed on the head the litmus test I would use to separate RINOs from the rest. If Obama changed in no other way other than to put an (R) after his name, would a person vote for him? If so, RINO!

Index the Dow against gold and you end up with a figure like 7500 for the market. The market is riding a price curve.
[116]
That’s a good point about the index and the value of the dollar\gold.
