It’s early but Reid is looking and more and more like a loser in 2010. How embarrassing for him to not even come close on that vote.

By the way–2 months before Daschle lost it was a dead heat or Daschle was still slightly in the lead. It took John Thune a long time to get into the lead.

Reid is losing easily in polls more than a year in advance.

They are going to push the bill far far left; Snowe will bolt and then Blanche Lincoln’s pollster will walk into her office one day soon and say, “Blanche, you vote for cloture on this POS bill, you are D-O-N-E.”

She peels off, then all the other waverers fall away

We are going to stop this bill

I know IP and I disagree, but I think Dingy is the most dangerous man in the Senate. He knows he is toasted politically so anything he does he has nothing to lose over. I think what he does over the next 6 months will boil down to personality over politics.

Does he hate Pelosi’s guts? If he does, then hell, he could cram the defeated S.1776 bill into the final HC bill for reconciliation knowing that the additional costs are a program killer. What better way to stick it in Nancy’s eye?

My guess with Lincoln is that Team Obama threatened to severely cut back her campaign funding if she didn’t vote for closure.

As MI Conservative said, there is a good possibility that Reid will lose his bid for reelection (based on current polls), but the Dims will still control the Senate. Whoever replaces Reid as majority leader will likely be smarter and more effective. The good thing is that the Dim majority will likely be smaller.

Right, the only thing he has left is to establish himself a lasting legacy as a liberal icon. Thus he will cram through hellcare with 51 votes.

From what I hear on numerous news sources is that there is lots of fighting going on between dims on how to structure this bill — no agreement at all! And, this is great for those who want it DOA.

I wouldn’t bet the farm on it, but I don’t think MFG is off base in thinking HC will go down in the flames of a divided congress.

Congress and the “President” keep talking about “THE Bill”

of course there IS NO Bill.

Their goal is to keep “it” as largely non-existant as possible for as long as possible. THEN at the last moment something with lots of pages, lots of legalese, and lots of “edits” and “amendments” will get dropped on the floor of both Houses and voted on in emergency fashion.

    ah, transparency!

IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT WILL THIS PILE OF CRAP,
BE GENTLY DROPPED INTO OUR LAP,
THEY HAVE WAITED FOR THIS DAY SINCE FDR,
MAKE NO MISTAKE WE KNOW WHO THEY ARE,
IT WILL BE ALL OVER US LIKE A DOSE OF CLAP.

This is like a “shell game.” The Dims will try to get what they want via sleight of hand.

12 – Yup because that’s the only freaking hope they have to pass it.
The think will come out of conference at like 2am… they will have vote at like 11am, there will be no copy to read. be lucky to be given a ’summary’ page.
Here’s health care… vote on it blind.

Aaaaah, yes, so this is the kind of Republicans that Dims prefer. Hey Fox News, move over looks like the Reps in the fox hole too!
