I am not as confident as MFG that the HC bill will fail.

Certainly there is going to be a lot of arm-twisting by the Obama WH to do what the administration heads want. It all depends on how long the moderate and conservative dims think Obama’s coattails really are….which goes back to the upcoming elections.

If we win BOTH VA and NJ, the coattails will get considerable shorter, in the perspective of those on-the-fence dims facing reelection in 2010. If we also win an impossible election in NY-23, having Hoffman win, there will be an explosion in the dim rank and file!

I don’t think the healthcare bill will fail. I agree with Jan on the arm twisting, and frankly, it wouldn’t surprise me if there were folks getting blackmailed or bribed. Also, up until yesterday we would be assured that such and such wouldn’t pass, then it does…..and I am also waiting for a cap and trade bill. Though that treaty in Copenhagen had a bit of cap and tradeishness to it if I am not mistaken…..and that would almost negate our “need” for one.

If the Dems lose New Jersey, Obamacare is done. If they can pull out Jersey, it might sustain for awhile. The only way anything gets done is if something is passed by the Christmas break. No way anything passes in an election year. I don’t see that happening especially with yesterday’s cloture killer and the far left holding the public option gun to Harry Reid’s head. Looks like the worst cast scenario is Obamacare dies in the Senate because the public option will be in the bill. Yesterday’s cloture killer was huge. Aside from highlighting Reid’s ineffective rustling the 60 votes together, if you look at the roll call vote. All Dem Senators who opposed were all in red or conservative leaning states with the exception of Wyden in Oregon. No way a Dem Senator is going to want this hung on them. Interesting that Blanche Lincoln voted yea. That isn’t going to help her in Arkansas.

    OT:

Tenth Amendment Center – There are clear limits to the power of the federal government and clear realms of power for the states. However, the simple and clear expression of purpose, to secure our natural rights, has evolved into the modern expectation that the national government has an obligation to ensure our life, to create our liberty, and fund our pursuit of happiness. The national government has become a complex system of programs whose purposes lie outside of the responsibilities of the enumerated powers and of securing our natural rights; programs that benefit some while others must pay.

    Phoenix,

I would actually think it is a major failure for the Dim Senate Majority Whip — its their job to herd cats Senators. Poor Durbin.

    —-
It’s one vote, so the language of the bill will total 1.2 trillion …again, course they’ll still mention it being scored at <900t, it's not like the truth matters to mrs. piggy.
Only hope is a sweep on the 3rd, to further scare house and some weaker senate members. I'm not convinced even then they can't be bought off or Rahm'd into voting for it.

The blinders slip a little more –

How do you know that the White House’s anti-Fox News campaign has gone seriously wrong? When CNN, let alone Anderson Cooper, begins to compare the Obama and Nixon administrations (video embedded below the fold, h/t Mediaite’s Colby Hall).

Cooper, jeepers. Cooper wants to be in a fox hole too.

This probably ensures that Durbin will step up to Majority Leader when Harry walks the plank.

Dems always promote failure and incompetence upwards.

JM…that treaty in Copenhagen, as written, would subjugate us to World Courts and UN Mandates, effectively ending our sovereignty. Of course it would have to be ratified and I dont think even this group of leftists will try that unless there is a significantly watered down version.

Cap and Trade will go a long way in preparing us to accept eventual subordination to a World Order. These things are just as bad and dangerous as Healthcare.

They don’t need to put the public option in the bill to get it thru, they can do it later.

I think it’s way way way too early to say it won’t pass.

That’s right. This is the centerpiece of leftist power. Control of life and death itself. They will never stop, even if removed from power.

I know I get the side eye every time I say this, but I would not be shocked if part of the bribe to vote for hc and or cap and trade- is a suspension of future elections. No worries for re-election? Vote with your pals.

So what would Hoffman’s chances be if DeDe withdrew? I only ask as it seems to be that there is a move to ask the Reps to do just that.

OT…..my Hubby was talking to a customer earlier today, and this customer had no idea that my Hubby was on the phone with me (bluetooth). When he is talking to someone, we just pause our conversation and I usually listen to whatever is going on with him….

This guy was a gung ho conservative. I was practically cheering listening to him and my Hubs talk. From what was right about the country, to the wrong direction it is headed in, this guy was my hero of the day. THEN it happened…..he pauses….and says…..you know what is really wrong with this country and the world? Who is to blame when you really stop and think about it?

    Wait for it………

    Teh Joos!

Oh….and he was serious. Then he moved on to how Ron Paul was just the smartest man alive…..

    Dude.

Well, I am sure we have all considered that they might use any emergency (manufactured or otherwise) to delay all elections, invoke net neutrality and close down talk radio until the emergency is dealt with.

I have long said that I think these guys want to see blood in the streets. That would give them a crisis to impose whatever emergency actions they want. Could they get away with it? Hopefully not.

With Hoffman in the race, and the district being red, there is no reason for Scozza’s candidacy.

Mary, that is frustrating. Seems many otherwise sane adults have the jew hatred. Oy vey, it gives me a headache.
