I was SURE this had to have been rigged, that NOONE could have been so stupid as to put all of his credibility on the line without this being a done deal ahead of time

yes that sums it up nicely, pg.

Of course the MSM is hiding the whole humiliation aspect of it (imagine if Bush had done this? It would have been headlined as a major slap in the face and loss of influence). But they can’t hide it completely. This is great:

“Friday morning, President Obama urged the IOC to pick his hometown of Chicago, saying the city represents the American dream as well as the Olympic spirit.Obama’s address to the 106 IOC members was the highlight of the Chicago bid committee’s final presentation before the vote to choose the host city.

“Chicago is a place where we strive to celebrate what makes us different, just as we celebrate what we have in common,” Obama said.”

Actually no, Barry. Chicago is a place where schoolchildren beat each other to death in the middle of the day in schoolyards.

Personally, I’m glad Chicago doesn’t get to host the Games.

Imagine if they had won it.:

Now imagine if Brazil wins it.

Sometimes the karma aligns just right. Go Rio!!

Of course the CBO will be told to rescore now as Barry’s failure represents $5Bn saved in future expenses!

    How annoying is this?
    Obama’s pitch to IOC:

“Nearly one year ago, on a clear November night, people from every corner of the world gathered in the city of Chicago or in front of their televisions to watch the results of the U.S. presidential election,” he told IOC members. “Their interest wasn’t about me as an individual. Rather, it was rooted in the belief that America’s experiment in democracy still speaks to a set of universal aspirations and ideals.

“There is nothing I would like more than to step just a few blocks from my family’s home and with Michelle and our two girls welcome the world back to our neighborhood. At the beginning of this new century, the nation that has been shaped by people from around the world wants a chance to inspire it once more.”

is the international community finally getting sick of his pretentiousness and preening? How it’s all about him?

wtch the clip I just put up…listen the utter disbelief the “news” anchor displays when realizes his GOD has failed him!

it’s so sad when people realize the Golden Idol they’ve been worshiping is just a really expensive statue!

Seriously now, as much as we all enjoy this, why didn’t Chicago win?
    The question must be asked.

Think of all the poor diplomacy–

    1) Sacrificing eastern Europe’s defense– a beating heart of Olympic success stories.
    2) Repeatedly insulting Britain– there goes most of the commonwealth.
    3) Naive and childish speeches at the UN about how the world must be free of nuclear weapons– there goes everyone smart enough to realize they are free because of nuclear weapons
    4) Actively undercutting tiny isolated democracies like Israel and Honduras– not a good move for the democracy-loving people– whoever is left.
    5) Constant undercutting of America– coming back to haunt him.

    acting stupidly, indeed.

This of course along with the utter failure of Obama and all Chicago politicians to address the real failures of Chicago, leading to a crime-ridden city where children beat each other to death in the middle of the Chicago school yards.

Good Post. How many people can Obama piss off? What’s the world’s population.

It’s too bad. I really like the Olympics, especially the winter ones. I wanted Chicago to get it. But, I thibnk a better choice was Rio. They have never had Olympics in S. AMerica.

Wow. Like MFG I was certain the fix was in when Obama flew off to Copenhagen to be part of the final presentation to the IOC. What a pretentious, blundering fool.

While not terribly important in the great scheme of things, this one will leave a stinging mark on Zero.

Why do we fall for these obvious ploys all the time by the left?

Look, they knew this trip would attract negative attention as would the failure to get the games and it would dominate the news.

Guess what we arent talking about? The Bacus HC takeover that was finished at 2AM last nite!!!

The country wont be ruined by the addtion of loss of the olympics but it sure will by the Democratic health care takeover.

We should be picking apart the aweful HC takeover bill and calling Congress in outrage – we arent…..

we got suckered again – sad

Why can’t we be the adults and focus on what matters?
