2009 “Year of the Skeptic”

2009 November 19

“I proudly declare 2009 as the ‘Year of the Skeptic,’ the year in which scientists who question the so-called global warming consensus are being heard,’’ the Oklahoma Republican said.

“Until this year, any scientist, reporter or politician who dared raise even the slightest suspicion about the science behind global warming was dismissed and repeatedly mocked.’’

…Inhofe also recalled his most famous comment in which he suggested that man-made global warming would turn out to be “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people.”

“Today, I have been vindicated,’’ he said.

What do I credit for the reversal? You might be surprised my answer: it’s none other than the winner of a Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar. It’s AL Gore.

The media blitz of 2006, which included an avalanche of magazine covers, hour long global warming documentaries, celebrity rock concerts around the world, and of course, Al Gore’s very own science fiction, caused an unprecedented response from scientists from around the world.

Later that year, I took to the Senate floor to give my next two hour long speech debunking much of Al Gore’s movie and the media hype….

The reaction by the American public was so overwhelming that my Senate website crashed, as thousands of people came to my site to read and watch my speech. In fact, I was flooded with emails supporting my work.

Senator Inhofe will be leading a “Truth Squad” to Copenhagen!

On a related note, Watts Up With That? reports that the Hadley Climate Research Unit computer has been hacked.

…here is the message that was placed on the Air Vent today:

We feel that climate science is, in the current situation, too important to
be kept under wraps.

We hereby release a random selection of correspondence, code, and documents

Go over there and read some very interesting emails on cooking data and playing politics!!!!!!!

Inhofe has been a hero for trying to expose this obvious hoax for a long time now. Why no other Rs have joined the chorus is troubling.

I don’t know what Inhofe is talking about. The earth’s core is several million degrees…..it’s like science and stuff. So lets stop the debate and divisive “global warming is crap” nonsense.

The Rs are cowards. They could not even combat this stuff when they were in the majority. How can we expect them to resist now?

    Stupid Rs….

Here is the HC “fact sheet” from Mary Landeriu’s WWW site:

I would put here down as a solid “yes” vote as it pretty much parrots the standard D talking points!

#6 Agreed. If this is true, its stoooooppppiddd at best and collusion with the enemy at worst.

This is not some legislation to name a post office.

This is about radically altering our society, our economy, our politics and the early deaths of millions!

The GOP needs to stop acting as if this is an academic debate or an opportunity to score a short term election win in 10 by “running against ObamaCare” – this IS FOR ALL THE MARBLES – WILL WE BE A FREE AND PROPOSROUS PEOPLE OR SIMPLY ANOTHER CENTRALIZED/STAGNAT/SEMI-AUTHORITRIAN COUNTRY!

When our local R congressman at the summer town hall told us “calm down folks, things are not so bad” then started estolling the virtues of the “bipartisan” Wyden-Bennett HC Bill (essentially CrappyCare without a public option) I got the exact same feeling….

Lets face it, both Obama due to his deal making with insurance lobbiests and the R due to their past connections/contributions with the same have strong influences to allow/push for passage of an Individual Mandates….

At least in the short term (in the long term when the boomers hit they will be bankrupt and run out of business by the regulations) the Health Insurance industry will get a profit boost from the Individual Mandate – and pretty much an Insurance Exec who is 60ish is really only looking a few years down the road at most and could care less if all the rest of us get dumped into socialist medicine…..

If the GOP was serious about stopping this thing they would have been focusing and tearing into the individual mandates and not the government option as that is the “heart” of Obamacare since it provides the funding, forced participation in the government system, and the subsidies/ dependcy hook…..

Total tab in the real world for CrappyCare?

4.9 trillion dollars for the Feds tab! (not including trillons in premuim increase due to insanely unneeded insurance mandates)

    http://healthcare.nationalreview.com/post/?q=OTc1MjEzYjI5NzM0M2Y1YjUwNzZhZmVhZGFhYTQxYjI=

“So, here’s the bottom line. On paper, the Reid plan plus the “doc fix” would increase total federal spending by about $4.9 trillion over 20 years. Senate Democrats would resort to bracket creep and other tax hikes to raise $2.2 trillion over the same period. The balance would be made up with spending reductions, mainly in Medicare, that no one believes can be sustained, and in any event do not constitute “health reform.” In other words, it’s a tax-and-spend bill of the highest order. And only the spending is certain to happen.”

2009 may be the year of the skeptics, but the skeptics don’t have 41 Senate seats.

Better late than never, I guess……

and if you were skeptical about ACORN’s claim that: “They got thrown out of every other office!” then go over to Brietbart and watch the latest video.

(ok, we weren’t skeptical…we KNEW it ACORN’s claim was bullshit)

p.s. the latest video is indeed shocking…par for the course with ACORN…but shocking
