Our local paper took a NYT piece by Helene Cooper and gave it this headline:

The president got no concessions on Iran, China’s currency or human rights during his carefully managed visit
It was a shock to see that!

However, I think Obama doesn’t care how the Chinese act towards him. Unless I’m really missing something this is my take–he doesn’t really care about getting the three things mentioned in the headline. The Chinese, I’m sure, realize this and see no need to even pretend to agree.
The one thing I think Obama cares about is making the U.S. into his own image.

Obama is becoming more and more of a pungent political figure. When you back him, you can’t waver on things like life, and freeing Tibet. Both of those preferences go by the wayside, because he adhers strickly to the leftist idealogy. The centrist positions taken during the campaign were simply act I, to get him elected.
