Global Warming Cooks Data, Sets Internet On Fire!
Well, sorry, but I couldn’t resist the headline. Last night at the very end of my post on Senator Inhofe, 2009 “Year of the Skeptic”, I mentioned that, Watts Up With That? reported that the Hadley Climate Research Unit computer has been hacked. The relevant hacked email that I wanted you to find is the one that said this:
I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd [sic] from1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.
I was surprised that no one mentioned it in the comments, but it’s getting noticed today. Hot Air has a post up on it titled, Do hacked e-mails show global-warming fraud? and quotes the Australian Herald-Sun:
The internet is on fire this morning with confirmation computers at one of the world’s leading climate research centres were hacked, and the information released on the internet.
Hot Air has some other damaging emails quoted in the Herald-Sun. Look at this paragraph:
The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate
WUWT? has the confirmation of the hacking in an update:
The director of Britain’s leading Climate Research Unit, Phil Jones, has told Investigate magazine’s TGIF Edition tonight that his organization has been hacked, and the data flying all over the internet appears to be genuine.
You need to know that Phil Jones is the author of the first email I quoted at the top. Following in the steps of Al Gore and countless other Leftists, if the truth doesn’t fit the agenda, just throw it out or obscure it. Now the hackers have let the cat out of the bag. Will the global warmers agree that “the people have the right to know”? (I couldn’t help thinking of the line from the ludicrous movie, What’s Up Doc?, that was a clear allusion to the leaking of the Pentagon Papers). We all know how the Left loves to hang national security out to dry, if leaking information will suit their politics. What will they think of this?

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — A pro-life spokesman for the nation’s Catholic bishops doesn’t mince words today an interview about the new Harry Reid health care bill in the Senate that contains massive abortion funding.
The bishops have taken a consistent pro-life stance against using government money for abortions and they say this bill is no exception when it comes to that problem.
Richard Doerflinger, associate director of the bishops’ conference Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities, told the Associated Press today that the Senate bill “is actually the worst bill we’ve seen so far on the life issues.”
Doerflinger called it “completely unacceptable,” adding that “to say this reflects current law is ridiculous.”

This is less of a hack and more of a leak. Somebody may have ‘broken’ into the system. But whoever it was knew what they were looking for. Unlike a bunch of physical files on someone’s desk, email as stored is encoded. Even with admin access to the mail server one would still have to know either the header title, subject line or key text passage in the body of the email. I mean real specific. Searches on ‘climate’ or ‘IPCC’ would be too generic as the results would contain thousands of entries.
The leak was an inside job. The break in is more likely a cover to hide who the leaker is.

When does Congress go after the hacker?
How many fact checkers will AP assign to the hacker?
Has the hacker been Mirandized?
Since Gore invented the internet, will he be named in the conspiracy?
Has Obama said the hacker acted stupidly yet?
Has Reid said “The war on global warming is lost” yet?
When Gore found out the data on global warming was falsified did he raise the thermostats in his 11 mansions from 75 to 79 degrees?
