H1N1 & the Health Care Bill
Last week I read an article by Bill Kristol, The Pelosi Plan … and the Swine Flu Democrats, in which he makes the case for the damage H1N1 can do to the House health care monstrosity.
…we’re seeing a big government health care program in operation right now–the Obama administration’s effort to deal with the swine flu problem. No, come to think of it, it’s now the swine flu emergency. Last week, President Obama so legally designated it. How’s that test case in government-run emergency care going?
Turn on your local news to find out. You’ll see false reassurances, broken promises, rationing which doesn’t provide the promised rations, queues lengthening while supplies run out, and lots of bureaucrats explaining just why things aren’t working quite as their centrally planned plans had planned.
The swine flu emergency is a foretaste of life under the Pelosi Plan. Surely this spectacle, happening in real time before us, will give even more Democrats pause. Do they really want to be known as the Swine Flu Democrats?
There has been another development. Those vaccine shortages don’t apply to a certain demographic.
The Swine Flu Democrats (Gitmo Edition)
Frustration and anger have been building but there had not been an obvious target for those feelings. That may have changed late Friday afternoon with the news that the Pentagon has offered to give swine flu shots to detainees and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Major Diana Haynie, a spokesman for the Joint Task Force at Gitmo, explained the decision this way.
“Detainees at JTF Guantanamo are considered to be at higher risk and therefore they will be offered the H1N1 vaccination.”Really? Higher risk than who? Pregnant women are six times more likely than others to have a fatal bout of swine flu — and yet some of them have been unable to get a shot. The shortage is so severe that state and local health officials have been forced to cancel and reschedule vaccination clinics, and to adjust their strategies about who gets a shot and when….
So Khalid Sheikh Mohamed, the man who conceived the 9/11 attacks that killed nearly 3000 Americans, is eligible for a swine flu vaccination. But Kristin Bencik, a pediatrician working overtime to treat kids suspected of having swine flu, has chosen to forego a shot so that she is not taking one away from one of her vulnerable patients. And she is really a “higher risk” case — she’s pregnant.

Joe Lieberman isn’t happy about this either.

The CDC decision to tell states to stop carefully testing and tracking the swine flu was an outrage. Declaring this a national emergency may come back to bite the Obama administration. They set this scenario up and it’s been a case study in executive ineptness. What better advertisement for why the government should never be in charge of health care.
Call Congress and let them know.
As an added bonus, here’s another snafu over the swine flu from Michelle Malkin, Nanny state debacle in NYC schools. School nurses vaccinated the wrong students and one ended up in the hospital!

I read the school story this morning, and as Glenn would say- blood shot out my eyes. My kids get a vaccine that I did not approve of and I will blow a freaking gasket, but I cannot imagine the nuclear reaction I would have if it landed one of them in the hospital. Bastards.

This is a CORRUPT BARGAIN where a big and connected lobby lines its pocket and allow the socialist/statest to nationalize health care and seize an huge amount of POWER for the Federal government!
This cannot be allowed to stand if we are to remain a free and indpendent people!
We must work today and vote tommorow for ALL conservative candidates in NY, CA, NJ, and VA to send the statists a LOUD message that WE THE PEOPLE are STILL SOVEREIGN!
Everyone needs to get to DC on the 4th to participate in REP Bachman’s rally and continue to fax, write, call, and email in opposition to this scam!
