A Canadian style GST “temporary” tax for deficit reduction is coming and if Hussein is relected it will be a certainty. We almost have no choice we are in such a mess and he is making it worse. It will probably be around 2% and will hit the poor the hardest.

What we need to recognize is that this is a downward spiral. They will try to tax their way out of this creating a more downward death spiral. The more they implement their idiotic ideas, the greater it will be a drag on the economy.

Given the increase in entitlements in the coming years, the gap between revenue and expenses will widen even more.

The expected slow growth (jobless recovery) will become even worse when taxes rolling back on. Unemployment insurance will increase for companies as congress lengthens unemployment. These will increase the costs of doing business. Add in Cap & Trade and Health Insurance Reform – small business the engine of job creation will stall.

This will create more unemployed and under employed that the demon-rats will try to buy off. This will give rise to more government costs and less revenue.

Death spiral and ground level is coming up fast.

This plane wreck is not going to be pretty. Worse yet it is coming faster than they know.

We MUST cut corp tax, cut cap gains tax, cut death tax NOW. Leave all the other Bush rates in place, they are high enough as it is.

Then, cut spending across the board, to revenue. Period. If we don’t stop spending, we are doomed.

If it takes a 45% across the board spending cut to achieve balance, then so be it.

Dems will try all kinds of things to raise all taxes, forgetting the only thing which stimulate the economy, tax cuts.

With libs, history keeps repeating. None of their ideas have ever worked.

Sadly, the mess we are in will last another 2 1/2 years. Lets not forget what caused the economic meltdown in the first place: Democrats and the willing accomplices in the media talking the economy down prior to the 2008 election.

We know this is their modus operandi EVERY time a Republican is in office and every year it has tremendous effect (Al Gore making it close in 2000 and Kerry making it close in 2004) Both were very weak and very Liberal candidates. Scratch out the last 4 months of Bush’s term, and there is no way somebody like Obama even had a chance. Again, credit the media for succesfully trashing the economy.

The media will use these same tactics to puff up the economy prior to 2012 (I mean 10 x more than they are currently doing). They may make an attempt at this tactic prior to 2010, but ironically, the bad economy they were so instrumental in creating in order to elect a Democrat as POTUS will be their downfall.

Personally I would vote for JM as SecDef. She already comes armed.

As to the article itself I don’t think there is much we can do. Lets say the Reps take back the House with some headcount buffer. Regardless, whatever moves they make will be opposed by Miss Piggy and the Reps control in the Senate is doubtful at best. Couple that with the Veto pen and it stalemate to a certain level. So we muddle thru till the Usurper is deposed. Till then however, we are on a fiscal path that is going to be very rough.

Better to prepare yourself personally for a near depression level economy. Learn skills you can trade. Then get a network together of folks to trade with. That’s what got my grandparents through some of the worst of it. Trading goods and services. I leave the legal/tax implications to each person’s conscience.

The only problem is that Yahoo will only campaign outside if the temperature is between 65 and 85 degrees. That not only would create problems on the campaign trail and force him to skip the inauguration ceremonies.

His VP limo, however, would be the first stretch Crown Victoria in the history of the world – complete with police lights, taxi lights or both.

You are completely, hopelessly obsessed with my commute-mobile. I went to a car-show today, and saw some gorgeous Cadillac CTS action.

Would love to buy one, and cruise to work in style, but I don’t want any debt right now, and I’m not writing a check that big either, period.

So, the Vic stays. Need a nice push bumper for it, and a set of spare steel wheels and tires…

Really, if I was going to replace the Vic, I’d get a pickup, and have one truck and one large SUV as the 2 family cars.

But the Caddies are nice, and so are the vettes.

Saw the fullsize Rams too. Interiors were adequate, nothing to crow about. F-150s were very roomy, and clearly had the best interiors of any truck I looked at.

Chevys were not bad, but not really noteworthy either. Tundras, yeah, ok, not terrible…..

Just so long as my total number of cylinders for the 2 cars does not drop below 16.

Too bad you can’t get the v-10s anymore…..

It was funny at the car show.

Most companies had one or two reps there. GM had 20….

I really think they are looking for a reason to get up in the morning.

That’s a shame too, because the top end Malibu was pretty, and the vettes and Caddys were freaking gorgeous.

Of course I didn’t drive anything.

Just looking at the trucks, I preferred the Ford or Dodge, but I think Chevy, and GMC have better resale.

The Suburbans have gotten pretty expensive. Mine is a 2004 and I still like it better than the 2010s. (the current generation started in 2007) The new truck has a much better dash layout and finish, and better head support in the 2nd and 3rd row seats. 10% more hp and torque, and a 6speed box that nets 20mpg highway, where my 4speed only gets 18….

Other than that, I still like my truck better.

And they are still selling the 4.8 liter v8 in the pickups, and I think you can get a 5.3, and 6.0 and they killed the 8.1 liter.

Vettes are 6.2l in the gran sport (base model) making 436 hp, 7L in the z-06 making 505, and 6.2 again with twin turbos in the top end model making like 640 hp…..

Tiger’s auto accident is becoming the lesser story. It seems it is the culmination of a domestic dispute involving some, “ahem”, trysts at recent golf tournaments with a new york party girl.

Tiger seems to have forgotten the 14 club rule, and has been playing an unfamiliar course with the 15th one.
