Another Spying Scandal at GITMO
We live in a strange era – a time in which being politically correct trumps just about everything else. Four Navy SEALs are facing court marshall because they allegedly gave a terrorist a fat lip. This seems to be more important to the U.S. than Muslims who are taking classified information from GITMO.
Repeat after me, “Islam is good; Christianity is bad.
A number of Arabic and Pashtu interpreters at the terror-war detention center at Guantanamo Bay are under active investigation for omitting valuable intelligence from their translations of detainee interrogations, among other security breaches. This could taint some of the evidence at the “9/11 trial” in New York and proceedings against other detainees.
Remarkably, the Pentagon never cleaned up the “mole infestation” at its highest-security facility after the FBIbusted a Muslim spy ring at Gitmo in 2003.
The 2003 probe involved at least two Arabic interpreters with high-level security clearance. Senior Airman Ahmad al-Halabi, a Syrian native, and former Army linguist Ahmed Mehalba, an Egyptian native, were later convicted of stealing or mishandling classified documents.
Six years later comes a new problem with Muslim personnel who have virtually unfettered access to detainees and intelligence at Gitmo. Professional military security and intelligence officials at Gitmo did the preliminary probe, then prepared a classified summary and are now briefing top officials and members of Congress in Washington. An active FBI criminal probe is also under way.
The possible new spy ring involves several Arabic linguists, some also Egyptian and Syrian immigrants.
Hat tip: New York Post
Expect the Lame Stream Media to go into ostrich mode once again.
“I’m concerned that this increased speculation could cause a backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers. And I’ve asked our Army leaders to be on the lookout for that. Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy (Ft. Hood) was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse,” U.S. Army Chief of Staff General George Casey, Jr.
With Casey running the Army, is there any wonder why we are having the problems we are in Afghanistan?

“I think we should have profiled him.”

[1]
General Casey is a world class idiot. That statement about diversity being a greater casualty is beyond stupid.
This guy has no business commanding troops. He should be fired.

BC, good piece. But I really have to wonder. 1) How do two foreign nationals whose govts are not allies get high level security clearance? Who vetted those two? Then, 2) I bet I could fly to Detroit put up a sign for second generation Arab Americans with fluent Arabic and have a line 6 blocks long. Then be able to find 500 who are loyal to the US to get to 2 finalists.
It boggles the mind.

Eph, she could loosen the grip on the stock a little tho.

To sum up:
1. The Harris dude, whoever he is, is a racist.
2. We will stop the insane PC movement. That will happen the day after we are all dead.
Enjoy the day.

How do we expect people to join the military when we treat them like this ?
I could understand some milder form of discipline but a court martial , come on give me a break !

I could understand some milder form of discipline but a court martial , come on give me a break ! — Sharp
Merely as a point of order, the 4 Seals are asking for the Courts Martial, not the Govt. They are doing so under the advise of council. Thinking goes that the Govt. will back down. The DoD wanted to place a reprimand in their file and have that the end of it. The Seals wanted none of that.
I hope they win.

You mean like taking them out for steaks and a few beers?
[17]
Diversity such as all the single mothers who joined the armed services (or became single mothers while in the service) so that providing day care services became a substantial concern for the military. Now I wonder what does it add to national security that we have day care facilities on army bases?
[18]
This is NOT good:
President Obama pushed hard to move up the deployment of the 30,000 new US troops being sent to Afghanistan to get them on the ground within six months, administration officials told ABC News Tuesday.
A senior Army official told ABC News’ Martha Raddatz that he could not imagine how that would happen, and that if the troops did arrive that fast, “they will be living in tents.”
[19]
Brandon,
That being said, if you are mobile infantry front line high likelihood you will be bunking a tent. So I want to know. Who on this blog gave ABC, JokeLeaf’s whereabouts??
[20]
BC, I have been to a few bars for steak and a beer and ended up with a fat lip kissing the pavement. So who do I see about a Courts Martial??

When I was in service I had 14 Hudepohl’s (a Cincinnati beer at the time as I was stationed at Wright-Patt) in about an hour and a half at a promotion party. At first, I was afraid I was going to die. Then I was afraid I was going to live.

How about you just make the fracken decision in September, clown!

I will add this about the Navy Seals and their court martial. Talked to my brother (retired Navy Chief), he told me the reason the Navy Seals asked for a court martial was that it is an up or down vote. Either you are innocent or you are guilty. The other option given to the seals was a captains mast. Under a captains mast you take the verdict of the captain and it is entered into your record. Thus the Navy Seals would have had a black mark entered into their service record and they would have been hosed.
Thus the better option was to go the route of a court martial. You are judged by your peers (in most cases, guys and gals from your unit) and all information can be brought out into the public square for public consumption. While with a captains mast, he is judge and jury and the verdict is final without anything going public.
My brother felt the Navy Seals did the right thing by asking for a court martial. He believes that they will be found innocent and the military brass will have egg on their face.
Also, he made a comment about Muslims in the service – would not want to be them. Given what happened at Fort Hood as well as the above example of Muslims not serving the country but their faith – bad things will happen to them. You know accidents do happen and their is a lot of heavy equipment and machinery they work around. Just saying.
