Teaching a “Blue Dog” to Roll Over
Here’s a bit of good news – a “Blue Dog” Democrat is switching over to the GOP. If Boehner and the other Republican House leaders were smart, they would be trying to recruit more. This guy is from a blue district that hasn’t elected a Republican since 1869. That speaks volumes.
Every member of the House is up for re-election next year. Just as Bush was on the ballot (figuratively speaking) with every Republican in 2006, Obama, Reid and Pelosi will be on the ballot with every Democrat. The Titanic is going down. Man the lifeboats.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Freshman Congressman Parker Griffith (D-Ala.) will announce today that he is switching parties to become a Republican.
Griffith will become the first Republican to hold the historically Democratic district since 1869 when Republican John Benton Callis was in Congress. As a retired Oncologist, Griffith plans to heavily criticize the Democratic health care bill as wasteful and ineffective.
In the past, he was a Blue Dog Democrat who voted more conservatively than most Democrats. Griffith was one of 11 House Democrats to vote against the stimulus package.
On the Democratic leadership in Congress that won’t commit to bipartisanship, Griffith remarked, “perhaps we should look at altering that.”

He seems to think thay don’t have the votes. Based on the original numbers,it would appear that way, BUT many of those NO votes were allowed to vote that way for self preservation back home, and they are not to be counted on in the crunch.

Well if Beohner could get 3 more to switch over, Nancy would be screwed in reconciliation.

Interesting, though don’t kid yourself it has mostly to do with being re-elected, however there probably is some degree of “hey I may be a D at heart but I ain’t even remotely down with this far left agenda chit.”
