Palin Mania Takes Daytona 500

DAYTONA BEACH – Palin-mania easily surpassed Danica-mania at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday.

While Patrick got all the headlines for the better part of two weeks, she had no stake in the Daytona 500. Palin did, and as a VIP guest for the race, she ate up all the attention.

When she arrived for the drivers meeting, Palin was immediately mobbed. She briefly chatted with Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele, shook hands with supporters and smiled big.

She took a seat up front next to Harry Connick Jr., who sang the national anthem for the race. When NASCAR president Mike Helton acknowledged her as a special guest, she got the largest ovation from the room, packed from the front to the back with drivers, team members, support personnel and onlookers.

After sitting through the meeting, Palin could not get out the door. Fans mobbed her, asking for pictures and autographs. Her 12-person entourage, comprised of track security, a policeman, friends and spokespeople, tried to get her to the door and to her next appearance. But Palin could not help herself, and kept signing and posing for pictures.

Tomorrow evening Sarah Palin will be the speaker at the Daytona Chamber of Commerce annual dinner. Becuase of demand for tickets (64% above last year), the event was moved from a hotel ballroom to the city’s convention center.

    wait…wasn’t there a woman named ‘Sarah Palin’ who ran for VP on McCain’s ticket? What a coincidence! THAT woman’s political career ended in mid-November and she was never heard of again, I’m told. Wierd that someone with the SAME NAME would be so popular now!

    This was a nice “people stop” for Palin.

    NASCAR is a very popular event, especially out in the “red” mid west area.

    The interesting thing about Palin is that she makes these campaign-like drop-ins look like it has nothing to do with campaigning. In the short run she is growing her name, and in the long run she is doing her own “listening” tour, which can easily reconfigure itself into campaign mode should she decide to go the distance.

    It’s a win-win plan, giving her maximum exposure and the minumum amount of accountability because she holds no public service position at the moment.

    I can barely remember that first Palin (noone ever remembers the VP nominee on a losing ticket), but wasn’t she kind of hot too?

    Fact there is more to that last comment than meets the eye. What are McCain’s accomplishments for his long tenure in the Senate? McCain-Feingold? Heck that is all but eviscerated by SCOTUS. Can anybody else name something that the man has done??

    This would be funny if it wasn’t such a sad commentary on the gullibility and lack of critical thinking capability of the general populace.

    Palin, has folks eating out of her hand. Hope she translates that to down ticket wins for the conservative cause in November.

    The Quitter

    ~~By: Robert Service

    When you’re lost in the Wild, and you’re scared as a child,
    And Death looks you bang in the eye,
    And you’re sore as a boil, it’s according to Hoyle
    To cock your revolver and . . . die.
    But the Code of a Man says: “Fight all you can,”
    And self-dissolution is barred.
    In hunger and woe, oh, it’s easy to blow . . .
    It’s the hell-served-for-breakfast that’s hard.

    “You’re sick of the game!” Well, now, that’s a shame.
    You’re young and you’re brave and you’re bright.
    “You’ve had a raw deal!” I know-but don’t squeal,
    Buck up, do your damnedest, and fight.
    It’s the plugging away that will win you the day,
    So don’t be a piker, old pard!
    Just draw on your grit; it’s so easy to quit:
    It’s the keeping-your-chin-up that’s hard.

    It’s easy to cry that you’re beaten-and die;
    It’s easy to crawfish and crawl;
    But to fight and to fight when hope’s out of sight-
    Why, that’s the best game of them all!
    And though you come out of each grueling bout,
    All broken and beaten and scarred,
    Just have one more try-it’s dead easy to die,
    It’s the keeping-on-living that’s hard.

    Read the comments… these liberal whack jobs are going insane over Sarah!!!! LOL..

    Does anyone remember the little joke where you write on both sides of a piece of paper “How to …. drive a liberal crazy….keep a moron occupied…confuse a liberal (Turn over).

    They hate Sarah for so many reasons. However, I believe it is because she jeopardizes the liberal world view and destroys their myths. Remember that liberals are all about how they feel and usually liberals feel insecure because liberalism is a victim mentality.

    The most pervasive myth of the perpetually insecure is (1) I cannot achieve in life because I was not born with advantages and therefore government must level the playing field by taking away any inherited advantages from others and give me opportunities or advantages I have not earned through my own efforts;

    or, the feminists’ myth (2) As a woman I must give up family and relationships in order to have success in other areas… I cannot have it all; or,

    the elitist myth (3) Attendance at ivy league schools is necessary for development of exceptional character and skills.
