Here is a case to keep an eye on, not particularly for discussion tonight. As one of the commenters said, “this is the tip of the iceberg.”

It is alleged that, back in 2008 when Tim Geithner was head of the NY Fed, he was the leading advocate for the AIG takeover and personally designed the scheme wherein AIG was bailed out with taxpayer funds, took control of 80% of the stock, and engineered the payoff of favored AIG’s counter-parties. The mechanism was an illegal and invalid trust.

A federal judge just ruled against the government who was trying to prevent further discovery in the case.

Read about it here and keep an eye on it as the case proceeds.

If Timmy goes down, it could go further into the Bush and Obama administrations.

    Sweet.

I posted a little on it the other day, but Kenneth Lewis (the EX-CEO of B of A) just got charged with misleading investors in the Merrill Lynch deal. He alledgely hid info to get the fed to approve the deal. However, if you remember, this is the guy who accused the Obama administration of strong arming B of A INTO the deal. Sure looks like payback at this point. I posted the links on an older thread.

There are a number of irregularities that need the light of day.

I think we haven’t seen the end of this TARP octopus with its many tentacles.

I just cannot believe Timmy would do anything remotely close to illegal…..I’m sure he even pays every cent of his taxes, and on time no less!

Mullet though I agree and hope the case busts things wide open…

The problem is it also reaches into Congress proper. So you know what is going to happen — They will pass an amending act just like they did with the 9/11 surveillance by the Telcos to give all the offenders a pass. By so doing they quash any investigations that might blow back on the CongressCritters.

Too bad H&R Block does not have the guts to run a ‘Tim Geithner Tax Return Special’. If you are hauled before Congress for any tax or penalty we will represent you for free!

You may be right, drdog, but things may change come November 2010. It is a stretch, but not inconceivable, that control of the house and senate flips.

With the mood of the country shifting toward fiscal responsibility, congress may be less inclined to protect the scurrilous ba$tards that came before them.

While we continue to have our grievances with the Obama Administration, and protests via the tea parties, Iran is carrying on it’s own battle for freedom.

It looks like February 11th will be the most violent confrontation to date. The regime is taking unusual measures to put down the promised demonstrations. In many ways it resembles the “Chinese solution.” First, an unprecedented mobilization: 120 trains and something like a thousand buses have been deployed from as far away as 250 kilometers from the capital. They will be used by the Revolutionary Guards and Basij to bring tens of thousands of paid “volunteers” to Tehran. These will consist of entire families (dependent on the regime) to counter the Green Wave. Each family gets $80 for the day, plus free food. The regime is aiming at 300,000 thugs in the streets. The Greens don’t think the numbers will be that high, and in any event they expect ten times that number of protesters, upwards of three million increasingly angry people, demanding freedom and justice.

The Iranian Revolution devours its young

There was a rip off of the song “The Green Berets” a long time ago as: “The Queen Berets”. Pretty funny. Here’s a link to it:

janzam, February 11 is going to be a momentous day in Iran…one way of the other apparently. Those brave people deserve our support…what they got from Obama was worse than indifference.

I missed Poetry Night –AGAIN. (but I will go back to read the enteries and be entertained)

Wasn’t feeling so hot, went to bed @10;30 p.m. east coast time.

If the National Weather Service can give a storm warning in advance, could you guys at BJG consider tossing out a Poetry Night warning a day or so in advance?

Thosught I sent this comment before–I musta “Obama-ed” [screwed] up:

Concerning the poetic offerings, I especially want to give accolades, a tip of the hat, and an Internet fist bump to:

    MFG for #13

    TLS for #38 and #44

and Queen (“Where’s the jobs Mr. President?”) Pelosi for #76

We will have such a blast when they put us all in the same reeducation camp. :)
