Amnesty Next: Lucy Graham Leading the Way
If Obama passes health care, or even if he doesn’t, passing amnesty appears to be his next objective. Prominent among his supporters is Lucy Graham, who also supports the President on closing GITMO and cap and trade.
Back in January Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was pushing cap-and-trade legislation with democrats. Now, the Republican senator is assisting the White House with amnesty for illegal aliens.
In 2007 while speaking to the radical La Raza organization, Graham said he was going to tell the “bigots” who opposed amnesty to “shut up.”
The LA Times reported:
Despite steep odds, the White House has discussed prospects for reviving a major overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws, a commitment that President Obama has postponed once already.
Obama took up the issue privately with his staff Monday in a bid to advance a bill through Congress before lawmakers become too distracted by approaching midterm elections.
In the session, Obama and members of his Domestic Policy Council outlined ways to resuscitate the effort in a White House meeting with two senators — Democrat Charles E. Schumer of New York and Republican Lindsey Graham of South Carolina – who have spent months trying to craft a bill.
According to a person familiar with the meeting, the White House may ask Schumer and Graham to at least produce a blueprint that could be turned into legislative language.
The basis of a bill would include a path toward citizenship for the 10.8 million people living in the U.S. illegally. Citizenship would not be granted lightly, the White House said. Undocumented workers would need to register, pay taxes and pay a penalty for violating the law. Failure to comply might result in deportation.
Nick Shapiro, a White House spokesman, said the president’s support for an immigration bill, which would also include improved border security, was “unwavering.”
More…Senator Grahamnesty has been busy this week. He’s also been helping Team Obamashut down Gitmo.

How the good people of South Carolina could have reelected this caricature from Mayberry RFD is a mystery.

Glad the weather on the west side of the state is nice too. This is the weekend we always worry about – winter open house today at Bishop Foley.
I don’t think you we on last night for the discussion on the $9.7 trillion in additional debt the Obama budgets will result in over the next 10 years. The question is how much will amnesty add to the debt. There are basically two problems: additional servicces for the “undocumented” who are already here and the problems and costs associated with “chain migration.”

Vote for marriage? You’re on a hit list
Battle looms in Supreme Court over ‘gay’ activist harassment
A battle is set to begin in the U.S. Supreme Court, as backers of traditional marriage hope to fend off a law that would make their names and addresses public and, therefore, make them prime targets for homosexual activists intent on bullying them into silence.

Graham can’t even be called a tool any more. Being considered a tool means that he’s useful to somebody, and at this stage in the game, nobody wants any part of giving illegals a pathway to citizenship. This is Lucy’s attempt at taking the title of “Maverick” away from McCain, or perhaps McCain is lending it to him as he makes his way throught AZ primary.
Here’s the good part. Had Obama pushed CIR instead of pushing Obamacare for the last year, they had a better chance of getting that bill through Congress, then using the 30 million new Democrat voters to help them navigate the 2010 election. Pity them.
[8]
That’s true Tony. He was very foolish in not starting out with Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
I just wish Graham were up for reelection this year.
[9]
Ironic that after all of McCain’s “bipartisan support”, bringing up the amnesty issue now may be the torpedo that sinks McCain in the primary.
[10]
TLS -
I doubt that McCain will be pushing amnesty this year because of the elections. Hopefully we can elect enough true conservatives in November to block it.
[11]
I doubt that McCain will be pushing amnesty this year because of the elections.
Yes bc, McCain is stuck just with the topic coming up. He can’t push for it because of his primary. If he pushes against it, he is a flip flopper (and obviously a liar). Of coarse the AZ primary isn’t until August.
[12]
Of coarse the AZ primary isn’t until August.–TLS
I wasn’t aware that it was that far away, or should I say that close to the election? I wonder if McCain had a hand in choosing that date. Irony, indeed.

It’s time for John McCain to go…we fully endorse J.D. Hayworth for U.S. Senate
Last week we posted a poll for our readers that asked a simple question.
Would you support J.D. Hayworth in his run against John McCain in 2010?
The results? Out of about 3,500 votes, 79% of you said you would indeed support Hayworth in his challenge to John McCain for the Arizona Senate Seat.

Personally, I think it would be in everyone’s best interest if we just told Pakistan to do whatever they feel is most appropriate with Adam Gadahn. Sadly, I’m certain justice for this traitor will be meted out much quicker in Pakistan than here in the U.S.

TLS, you’re a gem!!
I’ll go a little further afield and suggest the following. Grahamnasty has had a tiff with McCain. So knowing that McCain has the millstone of amnesty around his neck what is better than Grahamnasty pushing this forward? It puts the issue front and center, whacks McCain side the head, forces him to possibly vote no on a measure he favors because it is RINO open season this year.
If there is bad blood between these two what a great way to torpedo somebody.

Assuming Pakistan agrees to give Adam Gadahn to us, he has already been charged with treason, and will be tried in U. S. Federal court. Lawyers, Miranda, civil rights, he will get it all.
Down the road, a book deal and the talk show circuit. The ladies of “The View” are waiting on pins and noodles.
[30]
The question that really needs a truthful answer –
While suturing up a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, whose hand had been caught in the gate while working his cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama, and his being our president.
The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Obama is just a Post Turtle.”
Now not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked,
What’s a “Post Turtle?”
The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a post turtle.”
The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor’s face so he continued to explain. “You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he’s up there, he sure as heck ain’t goin’ anywhere, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there in the first place.”
[31]
Heh.
[32]
Mullet, yes he will get it all. But I bet he will not be tried for treason. Its the only crime specifically mentioned in the Constitution and its requirements are most strict. Do the Feds have the 2 or more witnesses to the same crime at the same time? Or the defendant confesses to the crime in open court. Lacking that, they can’t even bring forth the charge and have it stick.
[33]
DrD – If the charge of treason is for adding and abetting a terrorist organization, can’t they just use the tape calling for muslims to kill Americans? If this guy doesn’t fry, I’ll take bets that terrorists aren’t “taken alive” in the future.

Last weekend I saw something at Larry’s Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized taser. The effects of the taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety….?? WAY TOO COOL!
Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button AND pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I’d get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!!
Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.
Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn’t be all that bad with only two triple-A batteries, right?
There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target.
I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong?
So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and taser in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.
All the while I’m looking at this little device measuring about 5″ long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference; pretty cute really and (loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-A batteries) thinking to myself, ‘no possible way!’
What happened next is almost beyond description, but I’ll do my best…?
I’m sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, ‘don’t do it dipshit’, reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn’t hurt all that bad. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and . HOLY MOTHER OF GOD . … WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION . . . WHAT THE HELL!!!
I’m pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again.
I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs?
The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room.
Note: If you ever feel compelled to ‘mug’ yourself with a taser, one note of caution: there is no such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor.. A three second burst would be considered conservative?
SON-OF-A-B—-, THAT HURT LIKE HELL!!!
A minute or so later (I can’t be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I had no control over the drooling.
Apparently I $hit myself, but was too numb to know for sure and my sense of smell was gone. I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head which I believe came from my hair. I’m still looking for my nuts and I’m offering a significant reward for their safe return!!
P. S. My wife loved the gift, and now regularly threatens me with it!
‘If you think Education is difficult, try being stupid.’

TLS, Mullet,
Art III, Sec III specifically states –
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.
Either the AG has the witnesses who will so swear or the idiot has confessed so previously. I don’t think a tape suffices. The number of folks convicted of this crime barely breaks a dozen and the last person to have done so was convicted back in the 50’s.

If you could get them to testify, why wouldn’t the camera crew that filmed him giving speeches that would comfort the enemy, and others present, be viable witnesses?

#58 Thanks DrD. Considering our current administrations appetite for prosecuting terrorists, I won’t hold my breath. Although there seems to still be some confusion who they have. The CBS report gave the name and history of a guy born in PA.

IP, for any manner of witnesses, heck it could be the Pak troops that captured the guy. The only thing I can think of specifically would be the necessity that the defense be able to depose the witnesses as required by law. Short of that anything goes, as long as there are 2 or more of them.
Better they had just shot him in my book.
