Geostrategic Stupidity….Again
Yes, the Obama Administration applies its glorious Smart Power Diplomacy and my bet is it will come up a piker. –
Argentina was celebrating a diplomatic coup yesterday in its attempt to force Britain to accept talks on the future of the Falkland Islands, after a two-hour meeting in Buenos Aires between Hillary Clinton and President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
Responding to a request from Mrs Kirchner for “friendly mediation” between Britain and Argentina, Mrs Clinton, the US Secretary of State, said she agreed that talks were a sensible way forward and offered “to encourage both countries to sit down”.
Her intervention defied Britain’s longstanding position that there should be no negotiations unless the islands’ 3,000 inhabitants asked for them. It was hailed in Buenos Aires as a major diplomatic victory, but condemned in the Falklands.
Gee think there might be any blowback on that one? The Brits are boiling over this. If Argentina starts making any moves, the UK might have to consider to commit forces to defense of the Falklands. And why should that be any concern of ours?
Well we are into week 2 of the Marjah area offensive in Afganistan. A combined NATO effort. The Brits not only are in that effort but also hold the region to the South of that district. So what do you think the local command’s reaction would be if the UK Home Office recalled the forces for a redeployment to the Falklands? Pretty much a shambles would be my guess.
Re-energizing America’s Alliances
The United States seeks to engage in dialogue that is honest and grounded in mutual respect, as the best way to resolve disagreements and work towards shared interests. We are committed to strengthening existing partnerships and building new ones to confront the challenges of the 21st century.

Sure thing Dude. But don’t act surprised when your left flank is exposed.

Being the good “Mick” that I am, I don’t mind sitting this one out. After all, it’s England.
I come from a long line of Irish patriots who ended up in the U.S, because they were “on the lamb” from the Brits about a centry ago. If I didn’t despise the Brits I could never face my father in the afterlife.

The Brits ambassador should request a mtg. with Obama and ask for an explanation. And not a beer summit.

Peeing on Mitt’s Parade
Yesterday Mitt Romney’s new book was officially released. He appeared on the Today Show, the View, Hannity and David Letterman.
Guess which Republican is #1 in hits on Yahoo right now. Guess which Republican didn’t even make the top 10.

Obama and his administration need to learn that sometimes what’s in one person’s best interest is not necessarily in another’s best interest. This administration has caused irreparable damage to our foreign relations as allies realize that an alliance is only good until the next election. If I were the Brits, I would certainly think long and hard before making an long term commitments.

Everything Hillary does re “foreign policy” she figures it ups her creds in that field. Often times, like any Liberal, she thinks her very presence at these events is enough to catapult her into the presidency.
However, it may not be her fault. What did Obama instruct her to say to Argentina? In that case it may not be Obama’s fault. What did TOTUS instruct him to say to Clinton?

BC,
Check out some of the comments on HA’s Palin/Leno show.
They are kiling Allahpundit. I see mass bannings in the near fututre! LOL

My guess is that Palin will be a frequent guest on Leno. He knows she’s a ratings magnet and they both want to screw Letterman.
Plus, the more the public sees her (“unfiltered” as she likes to say), the more people will realize she is not the monster the media portrays her to be.

Obama and Hillary have managed to alienate and/or infuriate our allies (England, France, Israel, Japan and Germany, etc…), and embolden our enemies (China, Russia, Iran, N. Korea, etc…).
The last time a world leader used this strategy 100 million people ultimately died…in what became known as WWII. Winston Churchill suggested WWII be called: “The Avoidable War”. Had England NOT appeased her enemies and had England and the rest of the world joined forces, the war would not have happened!
Obama is channeling his inner Neville Chamberlain…and the results will be horrific.
in fairness to Chamberlain, I believe he was just just misguided in his approach but did at least have England’s best interests at heart. Obama? He KNOWS what he’s doing!
[12]
JR,
The saving grace for Neville was he did not have to consider the prospect of atomic annihilation. Which is probably a good thing. But our current cropper? He concerns me. As the missiles rain in, he will be looking for the ‘reset button’.
