Is Obama in a State of Total Freefall?

In recent weeks, Obama’s approval rating has been lower on weekends and improves as we enter midweek in the Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll. This week Obama’s numbers have continued to plummet and today’s -21 equals his all time low. Has Obama finally reached the point of no return where his numbers will equal George Bush’s in the lower 30s?

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 22% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21. That matches the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President (see trends).

Forty-two percent (42%) of Democrats Strongly Approve while 72% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major political party, 17% Strongly Approve and 45% Strongly Disapprove.

Fifty-seven percent (57%) believe that passage of the proposed health care legislation will hurt the economy. Just 25% believe it will help.

Sixty percent (60%) of parents believe that textbooks used by their students are more concerned about political correctness than accuracy.

Republicans hold a seven-point lead over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

This is not a time for conservatives to become nicey-nicey and cave in to the RINOs that run the GOP. It’s time to take control and straighten things out once and for all.

AP Headline: Obama is more popular than Congress!

Hard to believe that they can write this stuff with a straight face.

Has anybody figured out why Obama’s numbers climb up during the work week? You would think with the fecal matter hitting the rotary oscillator it would go down.

RAS tracking uses only a 500 count sample for his tracking results. thus we have wild swings. I want to see a poll with 1500+ people at 40% too.

I don’t foresee any events that would pull Obama’s numbers up. No long holiday weekends, State of the Union,” etc. But, I am sure that media executives are meeting with Democratic strategists right now trying to think of an event they can orchestrate.

Eph, a larger sample would of course help. But even at the smaller sample size, there should be enough variability in the results that you would not have (last time I counted) 6 weeks of up ticks by midweek. Something in their sampling methodolgy is swinging this.

Its almost like Rahm passes some more of that Obama stash money on Tues so RAS will call more old folks for the Wed results! :)

This is the time for conservatives to stay strong. Fight the temptation to give in to the RINOs that run the GOP. Only (financially) support conservative candidates.

Obama is such a narcisst I have no doubt when he was campaigning and during his first month in office when he high approval ratings it was all because of HIM and now that his ratings are in the toilet, its about everything BUT him.

I wonder if its eating him up inside, knowing that not everybody loves him like he thinks they should.

I’m pretty sure the media will turn on Obama once it’s clear to them that he’ll be a one term president. The elites don’t like losers and they’ll have to start rewriting history at some point where they warned everyone about Obama being the disaster he turned to be.

One of bc’s questions was—-Has Obama finally reached the point of no return where his numbers will equal George Bush’s in the lower 30s?

I looked at the RAS trending. This latest entry has strongly approve at 21% that probably about the % of the NE/West coast liberal contingent. So that side of the equation probably won’t go too much lower. If it is going to get any worst for the O its because disapprove numbers trend strongly to — he sucks.

Possibly, but a lot of conservatives (me included) turned on Bush for several reasons: 1) cvomprehensive immigration reform; 2) Johnny Sutton and the former BP agents; 3) “compassionate conservatism;” 4)rules of engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan and 5) spending money like a drunken sailor.

Obama is Bush’s greatest rehabilitator. Do I miss Bush? Hell yes.

I miss having a president who is all class, instead of, sad to say, the punk we have now.

Liberals love to amuse themselves with cries of “racists!” against anyone who doesn’t agree with them, but when I look at Obama, I don’t see a black man. I see a street punk.

    To wit:

    R. Nixon = epitome of paranoia

    G. Ford = almost a non-entity, nice guy

    J. Carter = definition of perpetual, wet-behind-the-ears incompetence; now he’s just a bitter crank

    R. Reagan = Ronaldus Maximus

G.W.W. Bush = servent of the people

    Clinton = Slick Willie

G.W. Bush = Classy, from start to finish, both in public and private

    B. Obama = Chicago punk not used to being challenged or not fawned over

So if I was asked Do you approve of the job George Bush is doing I could easily answer –”NO” but you cannot explain.

That’s why I like Ras using the strongly approve/strongly disapprove.

Over a long period Prez’s get rated more for their foreign policy outcomes than their domestic foibles. Heck look at Nixon. Watergate was a domestic disaster, but more gets mentioned about his end of Vietnam and opening up China.

Bush II getting a favorable review in history will be totally dependent on Iraq. If Iraq is a quasi-democratic middle east powerhouse thirty years hence then Bush will be lauded as a transformative figure in middle east politics. Probably never be in the top 10 of all Presidents, but won’t be at the bottom either.

But he won’t be remembered longingly by conservatives.

From an earlier post, when will the media turn on Obama?

I don’t see this happening for several reasons:

    1. He was nominated and elected because the media shamelessly promoted him and refused to vett him.

    2. He’s a minority.

    3. Obama is the only one who could have been elected who is as far left as the media. Even Hillary isn’t that far left.

So how about the question, which presidents have learned by their mistakes?

I think Bush did to a certain extent. Obviously he saw the war in Iraq was going in the right direction and changed. On the flip side, his on-going attempt at getting along with the rabid left still baffles me.

Of course, Obama hasn’t learned squat, nor will he–ever.

Bush Sr, I’m sure, learned that going against Conservatism (voodoo economics) earned him a kick to the curb.

Bill Clinton learned what it’s like to be so loved and adored by the media only to be reviled by the same because the media gave thier love to Obama.

There’s no doubt whenever Democrats lose the media also loses, but when (and if) Obama loses his bid for a second term, that will be the biggest slap in the face to the media ever. It will be known as the slap heard ’round the world. The second biggest slap heard ’round the world will be when the media/Democrats lose 13+ Senate seats and 75+ House seats this Novemeber.

In some cases the media loses out financially too. The wife of NBC’s Chuck Todd is a Democratic operative. If the Dems have less money to spend, it can affect the Todd family financially.

RINOs need to feel loved by the left.

Sarah Palin is the one Republican who understands that being nice to the left, and particularly the media, doesn’t work. Her basic philosophy is “what can the media do to me that it already hasn’t tried?” It would be nice if more Republicans followed her lead.

For Bush II I don’t think its so much being RINO as being TEXAS. Strange brew, Texas politics. You can try to force an opponents bank to close, try to disenfranchise a town for political gain, even disparage the opponents mistress; but by God you better look congenial while you are doing it. Bush did not understand that the only rule in Wash DC politics is to win. He got rode over like a chump as a result.

    Mo,

Bush I think won the mind game against the libs in principle due to his intention to stick to the plan. If he knew he was right he didn’t worry about the triangulation. Somebody with a little bit of the sense of what is right rather than expedient? In DC? An extinct beast and because it has not been sighted for decades totally threw the libs off their own game.

I won’t be around to see it, but Bush II will end up in the top third of Presidents if Iraq turns out ok in the long run.
