We’ve all had the experience of watching a carnival ride spin and thinking: “OK, I’m ready to ride it…I know it spins!”, and then getting on the ride and being surprised by how FAST it spins (and maybe even getting a bit woozy 🙂 )

Likewise, we all EXPECT the media to SPIN for Obama and the Dems, but yesterday’s spin-cycle was off the charts!!!

By the end of the day the media had proclaimed the UPTICK in Unemployment as EXACTLY the best possible thing and Lord Obama be praised for it. EVERY headline spewed “Jobs ADDED!!”, and several editorials proclaimed the uptick as evidence of Happy Days!!

Since the unemployment rate figures to hit at least 10% by year’s end, I guess MORE Happy Days are in store!!

“Reverend” Jesse Jackson (Church of Adore Jesse) was in Detroit promoting “Green” jobs…and driving a Caddilac ESCALADE (hint: one of the LEAST “green” vehicles around)…and it got stolen and stripped!!!

God does indeed have a sense of humor!

since I’ve got the pasture to myself…

someone OTHER than Eph ( 🙂 ) explain to me how the Rasmussen tracking poll goes from a -3 on Wednesday, to a negative FOURTEEN today???

-14 is more plausible than -3, btw…I’m just thinking they must have adjusted their model dramatically. Of course, CNN adjusted their model dramatically…they dialed it back to October 2008.

Overall approval in the Daily Ras is down to 42 today (which I believe is within 1 of its all-time low (42/56). The media-sponsored polls exist primarily to drive public opinion and skew the averages.

Going back to Justrand’s comment in #1, about media spin. I was watching the same evolution of the media’s attempt to drive gloomy numbers into some kind of positive perspective.

It was one of those furrowed-brow moments in trying to follow the logic of their spin. But, considering the MSM doesn’t really use “logic” or reason in their analysis, only the flavor of their own bias, I should be used to their “reporting” by now.

I am also finding it amusing how low key the MSM has been on discussing Obama’s many vacations and times on the golf course. There is no judgment or questioning the amount of time and money that is being spent by the Obama family for their own amusement. It is such a contrast to how repeatedly they bashed Bush when he merely went to Crawford for a break.

    Eph –

The Ras polls are a three-day average so 2/3 of the poll was before the unemployment report. Besides, just about every MSM outlet downplayed the negatives and emphasized whatever positive they could find. If they couldn’t find a positive, they probably made one up.

  11. 2010 September 4 8:21 am

“The Ras polls are a three-day average so 2/3 of the poll was before the unemployment report”

Exactl! Luckily nobody watches the MSM anymore so look for 38% very soon

Obama continues to not practice what he preaches.

Quite simply, the test for spending, knowing it puts America more deeply in debt, making us correspondingly more vulnerable to our enemies, should be: Is this spending essential to national security? Fancy new Oval Office digs clearly don’t qualify.

As Obama himself said in February 2009, upon release of his first budget: “There are times where you can afford to redecorate your house, and there are times where you need to focus on rebuilding the foundation.”

The polling change is quite simple. They knew the poll would hit a friday, of a long weekend. So they figured that being truthful would not be noticed.

  14. 2010 September 4 8:46 am

    13. Sadly, even RAS now plays the “I want to be invited to the WH cocktail party” games.

Add Jesse to the Al Gore-Tom Friedman-Barack Obama School of Environmental Hypocrisy. While preaching to Americans that they need to cram their families into hybrid Priuses to go shopping for compact fluorescent light bulbs to save the planet, they themselves continue to live large.

Actually, time long ago passed Detroit by because Jesse’ favored government mpg mandates and UAW wages stripped the Big Three’s ability to compete against non-union transplants. These jobs were real – unlike the artificial, government subsidized green jobs he shakes down the feds for today.
Real jobs produced big, profitable SUVs like the one Jesse prefers to ride in. His SUV has been stripped by thugs – a fitting metaphor for what Jesse and his pals have done to the auto industry for the last 35 years.

I want to hug the author.

Fox News just had a report on a Grassley letter to the administration relative to Freedom of Information Requests being improperly screened and held up or ignored because of political reasons. Minority members of the House Oversight Committee looking into this latest Obama outrage.

Just finished reading a NYT article linked from Drudge about Michelle going on the campaign trail. The article said Michelle was the most liked member of the White House. LOL!

I can only bet that she is going to very safe Dem campaigns where her presence won’t make a difference. If Barrack and Michelle really believed the crap they spew, they should be front an center in the most vulnerable campaigns helping to get Dems elected. What a bunch of frauds.

  22. 2010 September 4 10:40 am

guys read the article on drudge\wapo about the new quotes in the oval office remake and barry getting the authors wrong. hilarious

  23. 2010 September 4 10:47 am

21 – Indeed. I welcome her to the campaign trail… it will only make her even more disliked. Unless it’s a potus election year the first lady doesn’t belong on the campaign trail giving stump speeches. Fundraisers I understand but not on the stump. Correct me if I’m wrong but I cant recall Laura outside of 2000\2004 going out and giving stump speeches for congressional or senate races. I know she attended a few with her husband, but can’t recall her ever speaking at one, is my memory just off?

“The Won” is at 43/49 today in Gallup. Rasmussen and Gallup are the only two polls I believe at all any more.

I don’t give the credence to RAS polls I used too, he’s been erratic and seemingly scared so far in 2010.

I’m surprised that more research wasn’t done, before weaving a quote into an Oval Office rug, that was attributed to the wrong person! Sloppiness, though, seems to be a common thread in this administration — both in small and big things!

I also don’t see it as being glaringly wrong for Michelle to involve herself in quietly supporting dems during the midterms. My recall is a little different from KH’s, as it seems to me that Laura did go out and support some republicans during elections, all on her own. First Ladies oftentimes are viewed more warmly than their husbands, making them viable endorsement extensions during times when the prez in not especially endeared by the public.

Michelle will do whatever it takes to retain power — even going out into the “country she loathes.” LOL

Much like Hillary Clinton, I look at Michelle as the more ambitious of the current WH couple. I think it was her encouragement that made obama run for POTUS in the first place. And, it will be her tenacity and shrewdness that will be out there in full force, in hopes of rehabilitating his eroded image.

A strong woman behind her man is more often than not at play in power couples.

  31. 2010 September 4 11:40 am

29 – Does your memory recall it outside of 2000 and 2004? (pres elect. years)

Commissioned U.S. Army Officers have become a disgrace to America.

If evidence in the court martial trial of Lieut. Col. Terry Lakin — the Bronze-Star-decorated lead flight surgeon who has knowingly triggered his own court martial in his efforts to verify the Constitutional eligibility of President Obama — might be an “embarrassment” to President Obama, the presiding judge Army Col. Denise R. Lind has in effect ruled, then there just won’t be any evidence in the court martial trial of LTC Terry Lakin.

Is this really America 2010, or have we taken a time-warped detour to 1930s Soviet Union?

Prosecutorial misconduct, no evidence for the defense — what next for LTC Lakin?

Nothing good if the public, mostly cowed into acquiescence by a babyish fear of being mocked as a bad name (“birther”) remains silent. Fortunately, senior military men such as retired three-star General Tom McInerney are starting to speak out on Lakin’s behalf.

After all, all we’re talking about here is just asking the president to show a little i.d.

34 – Getting yelled at by polling bloggers apparently.

  41. 2010 September 4 5:44 pm

2004 were not midterms. Midterms refer to elections outside of presidential years. ie 2002,2006,2010. But thanks cause if you only remember it from 2004 my memory stands accurate.

  42. 2010 September 4 5:48 pm

39 – It’s really outrageous, I mean wtf… take yet another vacation barry, go into the vault in HI, make a photo copy with a lawyer watching as a witness and be done with this crap once and for all. Course the problem is he cant, and everyone will continue to cover for him because it’s an issue “too big to fail” so to speak. Course this sadly this ship set to sea long ago and ain’t nothing going to bring it port imho.
