Pelosi Is Circling the Wagons

With the mid-terms less than two months away, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is taking desperate measures to try to maintain control of the House. This includes cutting off funding to candidates who are in dire straits and asking candidates in safe districts to share funds with those in highly competitive races.

WASHINGTON — As Democrats brace for a November wave that threatens their control of the House, party leaders are preparing a brutal triage of their own members in hopes of saving enough seats to keep a slim grip on the majority.

In the next two weeks, Democratic leaders will review new polls and other data that show whether vulnerable incumbents have a path to victory. If not, the party is poised to redirect money to concentrate on trying to protect up to two dozen lawmakers who appear to be in the strongest position to fend off their challengers.

“We are going to have to win these races one by one,” said Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, conceding that the party would ultimately cut loose members who had not gained ground.

To hold the line against Republicans, the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, issued an urgent plea for members in safe districts to help their endangered colleagues by contributing money. She called out to Democrats who were delinquent on paying their party dues and instructed members with no re-election worries to tap into a combined $218 million from their campaign accounts to help save their majority.

“We need to know your commitment,” Pelosi wrote to lawmakers last week in a private letter, demanding that they call her within 72 hours to explain how they plan to help.

She added, “The day after the election, we do not want to have any regrets.”

You have to give the old witch credit. At least she has a plan. That’s more than you can say for the GOP in 2006 and 2008.

    A plan you say?

Actually what this signals is that Pelosi has already given up the House and the Speakership. Remember this post? All she is desperately trying to do now is prevent a rout. If that is a plan, well so be it.

“We are going to have to win these races one by one,” and “The day after the election, we do not want to have any regrets.”

These are truisms, not a strategy. This is clearly an indication that they see the tidal wave coming and they realize that there isn’t a thing they can do to prevent it. A psychiatrist would define this as a coping mechanism.

I have to wonder what is going through the minds of he Dem congress critters that find themselves on the outside of the firewall. What did Pelosi guarantee them to defy the will of their constituents in passing legislation? By creating the firewall the environment could turn even more toxic for the Dems as there may be a few spectacular implosions by Dems who thought the party was there to back them up.

I would almost have sympathy for them, but the damage they have done to our nation is simply too great and I find myself wanting them all to suffer a very lonely and humiliating existence for their arrogance.

Let the suckers burn. If there be scorched earth, let it be now.

Parties aside, if it were possible to flush all the Dims, it would send a very frightening message — You don’t mess with the People.

KH- well yes, I hope they have one ready to go on election day, but considering their track record on plans, I guess I should have been more specific. 🙂
