Big News in Alaska Senate Race

2010 October 31
by bc3b

Palin Accuses “Corrupt Bastards” at CBS Affiliate of conspiring against Joe Miller. Here’s the tape of reporters’ conversation:

ABC accuses GOP establishment of of counting on Murkowski over Miller.

Questions:

  1. How will this affect the outcome of Tuesday’s election in Alaska?
  2. How will this affect the relationship between the Tea Party and the GOP establishment?
  3. Did Sarah drive the final stake through the political heart of the Murkowski family so Track, Bristol, Willow and Piper won’t have to fight them in 20 years? Sarah why do you always ruin Piper’s fun?

The Alaska Senate campaign is a mystery to me. However, since I live in California and it looks like Brown and Boxer have a better than even chance of winning, I’m use to such mysteries.

    1. Probably not much. It seems a write-in campaign is such an incredibly high hurdle that I don’t see Lisa winning. However, it seems enthusiasm for Miller has been damped down to the point that he and Lisa may split the vote and allow the Dem to sneak in. Miller still seems to be the favored to win, but it will be a TKO rather than a KO.

    2. I don’t think the shenanigans in Alaska will impact the relationship between the Tea Party and the GOP. That relationship will be defined over the course of 2011 — how the GOP performs. If it’s a return to the GOP of 2004 then I see a third party by 2012 which will be ruinous for the GOP.

    3. Let us hope so.

#17 We get less than 10 trick or treaters on our street every year (our street is steep). Every year when we go trick or treating with our kids we just leave a bowl of candy on the porch with a note that says please only take one candy. Never had a shortage of candy upon coming home, ever. Last year, a group of 6 or so teenagers was walking down our street as we were walking up to go back home. I made a comment to my Hubs that finally we got some more kids on our street…..well…..when we got home there was nothing left in the bowl, and it was practically full. UGH. I asked all the neighbors how many kids came by the whole night and guess what…..it was just those 6. Because of them, when we leave tonight, there will not be any candy out. Sad.

We live in hell’s half acre. No kids trick or treat here. Everyone has to drive to town or we would have to drive from house to house all night. We visit a nice neighborhood in town where several friends live and trick or treat for about half an hour, then head to Chuchk E. Cheese. Keeps the candy count down but extends the costume wearing time, so the kids think Halloween is a 4 hour event.

Politico is reporting VERY deep gloom & doom in the ranks of the Dems. Any and all “Hey, we’re comin’ back!” talk looks gone.

Obama & Biden drew 8,000 (high estimate) to a huge arena holding 13,000…and Billy Clinton played to a handful elsewhere. And in each picture people in the audience look like they’re having a root-canal!

Well over 300 mannerless little people wanting freebies tonight. To be fair, there were some that were nice and polite. Actually most were good kids, but the little brats seem to exaggerate the rudeness effect. The usual assortment of goblins, ninjas, Jasons, pirates and hookers (pretty much describes how 90% of the girls were dressed). My in-laws live 1/2 mile away and in the same community. They had 20. My prediction. Dems lose big time. Both House and Senate fall. Epic wave. Biblical, wrath of God, fire and brimstone, cats and dogs sleeping together…mass hysteria. Then late into the night Brown wins CA Gov by a comfortable margin, and the Dem talking heads and MSM promptly declare victory.

sadly that is EXACTLY what would happen. and the Dems would then determine that California was THE model for the future! Like having the Fire Dept. show up and pump gasoline on to the fire!

Only critters that came to my house tonight (other than the house guests we were expecting) were the usual half a frikin billion starlings that have decided in the last two weeks to EVERY NGHT to descend on our neighborhood, roost noisily in every tree, poop all over our cars, driveway, lawn and EVERYTHING.

Nothing works to deter them or get rid of them. Live in the city so cannot fire off a few shotgun rounds. (not the expected guests—the STARLINGS).

Every evening about 6 p.m. it looks like a scene out of Hitchock’s “The Birds”.

    UH,

maybe the “mom” jeans vs the Corbin slacks,

or maybe the girlie throw wide left vs the heat down the middle.

    or maybe the communist aura.

    I’m not sure.
