Obama’s Tea Pot Dome?

Only this one is in reverse. The investigation if it comes will be of the organization over seeing the industry, Dept. of Ed., not the industry itself. —

Documents obtained by The Daily Caller show Asensio’s group lobbied the agency vigorously with the benefit of surprisingly intimate knowledge of a federal government investigation into one specific firm, Bridgepoint Education, Inc.

For instance, e-mails from Asensio’s group indicate he possessed, or at least knew a great deal about, a draft audit of Bridgepoint by the Education Department’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) that had not been released to the public — or even to Bridgepoint.

The name of the sender of these e-mails is redacted. But one e-mail to Education Department officials from April 28, 2010 says, “I am with AES (eally.org) …. the methods you used for identifying the size of the illegal incentive compensation at Bridgepoint are deficient. The information you have provided is incomplete and grossly underestimates the severity and frequency of Bridgepoint’s violations.”

Source

This has all the Modus Operandi of Asensio the short seller. Look for a vulnerable company, put out some early feelers of bad internals. If they have traction then take a position in the target then press hard to have the market turn against it. Well Asensio has upped the ante. He is now going after an entire industry, for profit colleges, and using the Dept. of Ed. as his lever —

  • The reports by the GAO, now since found unfounded, toothless and withdrawn were the feelers to see if there was any fish biting.
  • The next was attempting to get DofEd to move for rulings of a significant enough nature impact the industry.
  • The last would be profit! Where his holdings are I do not know, but if he follows his usual pattern he has then somewhere.

Now I would hazard that this scandal does not go all the way to the White House. But it does call into question much of the management located over at Dept of Ed. A special investigator needs to be empaneled and the whole sordid affair cut open like an over ripe banana.

We need O’Keefe on the job!

    It’s the “Chicago Way.”

Betcha CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, the New York Times and Washington Post have investigative teams on this now.

If the alphabet networks or the A/P had photos & video of Barry Obama getting oral gratification from Imadinnerjacket in exchange for our nuclear secrets, they would ignore it…and go with the latest Charlie Sheen update.

The Left has invested EVERYTHING in their Clown Prince…they will NEVER focus on any negative aspect of anything connected with him.

JR, agree with every observation in your post. That is why this particular scandal might grow. It does not have any direct ties to the WH. This is essentially an insider trading scandal. So the MSM could go at it with the clear knowledge that the Anointed One is not involved.

Talking about investments — The GOP wants Joe Scarborough to run against Nelson (Fla). Unfreakingbelieveable……

Thanks KH #1. Woke up to the news this morning. Terrible, just terrible what is going on in Japan.

Beaches and pier closed down around here, but because the coast down here is not directly east-facing the wave action is expected to be minor. So, we have a tsunami “advisory.” Above Santa Barbara, and further up into N. CA and Oregon, it is a different story, and a tsunami warning has been issued.

6, JM! Somebody’s been ghost bustin’ our comments section again….

It is a interesting read. Several have posted here that something like this scenario is exactly how we arrive at a President Palin. The only fly in the thought process is that Obama may get a challenger. The same background that would make a Palin possible would also make a challenger to Obama possible. Only I doubt it would be Hillary. Her stint at SoS rather than bolstering her foreign policy bit has damaged it.

I read Bill Richardson was possible challenger to Obama.

That would be leaning on a weak reed.

I enjoyed DA Techguys WI analysis, drdog. The unattractive visuals produced by the protests, along with union dues no longer being automatically taken out of one’s paycheck, IMO, will have long-term and dire consequences for the union.

7 – Why am I not surprised. “had not accounted for the costs of workers compensation, liability insurance, retirement benefits and administrative overhead involved in using federal employees” all things you think would be pretty standard to compare.

    A heart-warming story from Georgia:

Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta, Georgia , told police he
observed a male customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta, on
surveillance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket. When confronted
the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a knife and ran for the
    door.

Outside on the sidewalk were four Marines collecting toys for the “Toys for Tots”
program. Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of the
Marines, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back, the injury did not appear to be severe.

After Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene Cpl. Duggan was transported
for treatment. The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two
broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken
ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw…
injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off of the curb after stabbing the Marine.

Rush pointed out that the state run media did not ask one question about Wisconsin in Prez Ogabe’s press conference this morning. As he pointed out that has to be collusion. No questions on the story of the week. What does it mean? It means their internal polling shows they are losing big time in this battle. 🙂

I know its an image thing, but the White House, regardless of occupant would be better off these days by ditching the WH press corpse, the room, and all the trappings. Fact ditch the comm director and the Carney act as well.

Eph, wanted to tell you…found Mitt Romney. Got an email from him the other day. He’s alive and kicking, and said ‘Hey!’ to you.

Just kidding, did get an email from his team though, I guess he’s come out of hibernation or wherever/why ever he’s been out of circulation.
