The Ministry of Truth is pleased to announce…

2012 March 29
by justrand

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits fell 5,000 to a seasonally adjusted 359,000, the lowest level since April 2008!!

But…but…

George Orwell’s novel ‘1984’ was intended to be a CAUTIONARY TALE…not a “Government for Dummies” manual. Likewise, Orwell’s ‘Ministry of Truth’ was NOT intended to be a MODEL for “Journalistic Ethics”. Alas, the current Regime and the MSM are using ‘1984’ in EXACTLY those ways! And today’s “glorious” news from the Un-Employment front is the clearest example yet…

‘1984’

Winston’s job was to rectify the original figures by making them agree with the later ones. As for the third message, it referred to a very simple error which could be set right in a couple of minutes. As short a time ago as February, the Ministry of Plenty had issued a promise (a ‘categorical pledge’ were the official words) that there would be no reduction of the chocolate ration during 1984. Actually, as Winston was aware, the chocolate ration was to be reduced from thirty grammes to twenty at the end of the present week. All that was needed was to substitute for the original promise a warning that it would probably be necessary to reduce the ration at some time in April.

—but then the very next day Winston is watching a viewscreen when it is announced that Big Brother is RAISING the chocolate ration to twenty grams!—

It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week.

—poor Winston…it is when he starts to notice things like this that he sets himself upon the road to perdition, for it will cause him to DOUBT Big Brother!

That was ‘1984’…this is ‘2012’…

Last week CNN breathlessly told us THIS happy news!:

In another sign of improvement in the labor market, the number of people filing for unemployment benefits once again fell to a four-year low last week. The Labor Department reported that 348,000 people filed for initial claims. That’s down 5,000 from the 353,000 who sought help the previous week!

CNN tells us THIS happy news today:

In another sign of improvement in the labor market, the number of people filing for unemployment benefits once again fell to a four-year low last week. The Labor Department reported that 359,000 people filed for initial claims. That’s down 5,000 from the 364,000 who sought help the previous week!

Yippee…they FELL 5,000 to 359,000 this week. All of you who have (ILLEGALLY!!) retained LAST WEEK’S report showing claims at 348,000 are hereby instructed to ERASE THOSE LIES FROM YOUR COMPUTER IMMEDIATELY!!

I LOVE Big Brother!

If we do indeed get a Republican president, what then will be the news when it comes to unemployment numbers? Will we go back to tent cities????

A flashback from Newsweak’s Evan Thomas:

‎”Well, we were the good guys in 1984, it felt that way. It hasn’t felt that way in recent years. So Obama’s had, really, a different task We’re seen too often as the bad guys.”

This was part of Thomas’ comments on how Obama is “sort of God”.

JM, the complicity of the Lame Stream Media in propping up this Resident, and in functioning 100% as the Ministry of Truth for him, is appalling!

Yes, a Republican President will immediately be dumped upon by the media…who will GLEEFULLY start doing their job. As Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit says: “If you want the media to fulfill it’s watchdog role enshrined in the 1st Amendment, then vote for a REPUBLICAN President!”

The regime is well aware that it can say anything it wants (aka lie through its teeth) with impunity bycause its friends in the media will never question anything. In fact, they will be partners in the cover-up.

#9 No hate crime here as the assailant was black. Nothing to see here, move along. You know, eventually stories like this will poke the hornet’s nest, and all hell will break loose…exactly what Obama wants.

Having said that…this girl is a monster, and should be barred from any sports from this point forward. I mean it. Nothing. She should also be prosecuted to the absolute fullest extent of the law. Not that she will be, because that would be raaaaaaaaaaaacist.

U3 dropped 5000. That is still 105,000 short of what is needed NET every month just to keep up even with population growth. We are so far in the hole employment wise since Obama took office that it would take nearly a million a month till the end of his second term to break even from 2008.

All the hoopla is the lowest rate of change at 5000 since 2008. The gross numbers are still a disaster.

    SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) –

Seneca police said they arrested six men Wednesday in connection with the beating of a North Carolina man at Applebee’s earlier in March.

Police said their investigation determined that the victim was beat by the group of men and the incident may have been racially motivated. The department said they forwarded the case to the FBI to determine if it should be pursued further as a hate crime under federal law.

Officers said all six suspects were charged with assault and battery by a mob in connection with the March 17 beating.

The suspects are Teryn Robinson, 18, Tray Holland, 19, Justin Alexander, 20, Derick Williams, 22, Kino Jones, 25, and Montrez Jones, 22. Police said all of them are from the Seneca area and were taken into custody without incident.

Miami Beach police say two Transportation Security Administration officers partied a little too hard Tuesday night, trashed their South Beach hotel room and then picked up a semi-automatic handgun and shot six rounds out the window.

One bullet pierced a $1,500 hurricane impact resistant window at a nearby Barneys New York, penetrated a wall and tore into some jeans in the closed store’s stockroom, according to store manager Adelchi Mancusi.

A cowboy from Texas attended a social function where Barack Obama was trying to gather support for his Health Plan.

When Obama discovered the cowboy was from President Bush’s home area, he started to belittle him by talking in a southern drawl and single syllable words. As he was doing that, he kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around his head. The cowboy says, “Y’all havin’ some problem with them circle flies?”

Obama stopped talking and said, “Well, yes, if that’s what they’re called, but I’ve never heard of circle flies.” “Well, sir,” the cowboy replies, “Circle flies hang around ranches.

They’re called circle flies because they’re almost always circling around the back end of a horse.”
“Oh,” Obama replies as he goes back to rambling. But, a moment later he stops and bluntly asks,
“Are you calling me a horse’s ass?”
“No, sir,” the cowboy replies, “I have too much respect for the citizens of this country to call their president a horse’s ass.”

“That’s a good thing,” Obama responds and begins rambling on once more.

After a long pause, the cowboy, in his best Texas drawl says, “Hard to fool them flies, though. “

About the 540M megamillions lottery jackspot.

    Lump sum=400,000,000

    Tax @ .25=100,000,000

Total recieved by me (I am buying 10 tickets)

Put all in gauranteed 5% yields 20M. live off 1/2 of 20M and keep the principle + yearly interest yield for 30 years = 198.8 billion.

I will share some with the poor people, but I don’t know any poor people.

drdog – interesting read. Saw some comments there and elsewhere about the Supreme Court unlikely to over turn a congressional law.

But we know that the Supreme Court is politically or listens to the political winds. What these people are forgetting is that the Affordable Health Care Act was the most partisan bill passed in the last 20 years. Plus a large majority of the American people are opposed to it.

It the bill had been bipartisan and a majority of Americans supported it – the Supreme Court would probably uphold it. But thus. most Americans are opposed and was highly partisan making it easier for the court to over turn it.

    81. Where you getting 25% from? The tax bite will be much higher, baring you live in state that doesn’t tax lottery winnings, you will keep about 55% on average of the cash payout depending where you live. Now I can think of a couple cute ways to shave some of that off but no matter what the feds are gonna get you for at least 35% and your state at least a few percent more.

You got some innovative method to reduce it to 25%?

Also I hate to bust your bubble but your math seems way the hell off on the 30 year return of 180m at 5%. It’s more like $800 million. not ~200billion if you left the interest and principle alone and just lived off that 20m for 30 years.

Mega millions will withhold 25% federal and 4.5% state taxes….initial withholding $118M

Assuming a 10% tithe my calculation is that total tax will be $126M, the after tax and tithe amount will be $198M…

You are forgetting that Uncle Sam will take taxes off your annual earnings.

Investing $150M @5% for 30 years and taking only $500,000 year draw will only grow to $472M

if that was all tax deferred then after 30 years you end up with $3.4B

Your math is still way off as well. wtf magic are you people using?

In Georgia after I file my return for 2012 I will have netted 210m off of the 389m cash pay out, (39.6 federal and 6% GA) keeping 54%.

If one takes 20m off the top and invests the remaining 190m @ 5% for 30 years one would accumulate roughly 821m NOT accounting for yearly taxes or a draw.

If you want to account for a 500k draw and account for a 15% cap gains along the way on all that interest the 30 bank account ending figure is roughly 633m.

In terms easy to understand, if you give your money to even a lousy charity, 80% of the money goes to the cause. A good charity it can be up to 95% and you know where the money is going. If the government steals your money for its cause, which you may or may not support, the percentages are reversed. 90% goes to building and perpetuating the bureaucracy, providing jobs and kickbacks to cronies, their kids, other ruling class favorites, fraud, corruption and waste….maybe 10% goes to the cause, which probably involves a fair amount for propaganda to support the program.

450m rounds works out too like 900 rounds a year for 100,000 weapons for 5 years. So 1/2 the total DHS workforce (are 1/2 even armed?) can fire 75 rounds a month.
