Account of How MSM Helped Cover Up Fast & Furious

2012 April 16
by bc3b

For those old enough, you probably remember the Watergate media coverage coverage vividly. It was on CBS, NBC and ABC Nightly News most nights for a year. It was the subject of a book, which eventually became a movie.

Watergate was a poorly executed burglary. No one was physically injured let alone killed, but it brought down Richard Nixon’s presidency. One of liberals’ favorite comments was that “the cover-up was worse than the crime.”

Unlike Watergate, a number of people have been killed (including Border Patrol agent Brian Terry) as a result of the guns supplied to to the Mexican drug gangs. Like Watergate, the U.S. Attorney General is involved and there has been a cover-up.  But unlike Watergate, the media has little, if any interest in covering fast and furious. According to a report by Katie Pavlich, the first reporter from CBS that reported Fast and Furious was viciously attacked by the Obama Administration and the rest of the MSM, like good little lap dogs, obeyed their master (Barack Obama), looked for other things to cover or tried to place the blame with the NRA and conservatives.

In Katie Pavlich’s devastating new expose of the Eric Holder Justice Department-approved Fast and Furious operation, Pavlich doesn’t just expose the Obama administration. She exposes the mainstream media for what they are: tools of the Democratic Party, and of the White House.

As Pavlich recounts, the first mainstream media outlet to report on Fast and Furious was CBS Evening News, which aired a report by Sharyl Attkinson. She stated that the scandal itself was so awful that “some insiders say it surpasses the shoot-out at Ruby Ridge and the deadly siege at Waco.” She pointed out that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had been pushing through the sale of guns to Mexican drug cartels, and that gun shops had even tried “to stop the questionable sales, but ATF encouraged them to continue.”

When the Obama administration saw Attkinson’s report, they reacted with utter fury. Officials from the administration screamed at her; as Pavlich reports, Justice Department communications director Tracy Schmaler called her up to yell at her. White House spokesman Eric Schultz “reportedly directed a barrage of expletives toward her.” Attkinson said that the White House and Justice Department labeled her “not reasonable” – as opposed to other press outlets.

From their perspective, that was correct – Attkinson wasn’t reasonable because she wasn’t parroting the party line. The rest of the media, however, was only too happy to do so. As Pavlich writes, “The New York Times and Washington Post weren’t just ‘reasonable,’ they seemed to act as press officers for the Obama administration.”

(snip)

Shockingly, the media covered for the Obama administration even when they unwittingly reported the truth. On December 15, 2010, the same day that Officer Brian Terry was murdered using a weapon sold via Fast and Furious, the Washington Post wrote a piece blasting border gun shops for dealing guns to sources south of the border. “What is different now, authorities say, is the number of high-powered rifles heading south … and the savagery of the violence,” the Post reported, neglecting to mention the fact that these gun dealers were working with the ATF to supply the guns. In fact, these gun dealers were stabbed in the back by ATF, which quietly funneled information about them to the Post, showing disproportionate selling of guns south of the border without telling the Post that the dealers were hand-in-glove with the government the entire time.

CNN has a new poll showing Obama beating Romney 52% to 43%. It doesn’t take long to figure out whole wrong it is.

According to them only 64% of Republicans will vote for Romney.

They also show Obama leading in the south 55% to 39%! Does anyone seriously believe Obama is going to carry the south by 16%??

I’m thoroughly convinced that the MSM polls are manufactured to keep Obama looking good in the eyes of Americans.

Someone needs to call them on their polls and problems with them as soon as they come out. Will Republican pundits on CNN rip the poll to shreds, Phuck no, they’ll accept it as Gospel.

Journalism is dead as we know it – or more correctly, ONCE knew it. Yet so called journalists look down their noses at bloggers? At least we back up our research with facts. Oh yeah – facts, those pesky little buggers.

IRS Travel Ban: Revoking Citizenship By Stealth
    http://www.infowars.com/irs-travel-ban-revoking-citizenship-by-stealth/

“There is no requirement that the tax payer be guilty of or even charged with tax evasion, fraud, or any criminal offense — only that the citizen is alleged to owe the IRS back taxes of $50,000 or more,” reports the Daily Economist.”

“It takes away your right to enter or exit the country based upon a non-judicial IRS determination that you owe taxes,” Constitutional Attorney Angel Reyes told FOX Business. “It’s a scary thought that our congressional representatives want to give the IRS the power to detain US citizens over taxes, which could very well be in dispute.”

Yeah this wouldn’t be abused…

Time to hold GOP congress accountable if they let BS such pass, I don’t think enough people fully understand how often an IRS claim or notice is wrong.

yup…D+3 was reality. So bumping it up by 6 points on the Dem side only gets Obama into a squeaky tie!

and the Obama Campaign (aka: MEDIA) know this…and thus THESE are the morning headlines on Yahoo “News”…a mixture of distraction and defamation (of Romney):

    – Boy tells school officials that mom and sister are dead at home
    – We’re finally going to meet a Mega Millions winner
    – Newt nipped by zoo penguin, gets Band-Aid
    – Romney shows record low favorability in ABC/Wash. Post poll
    – Police handcuff kindergartner for tantrum
    – Mexico raises alert for Popocatepetl volcano
    – Ann Romney: Dog Seamus ‘loved’ trips atop family car
    – Secret Service bragged about protecting Obama
    – Japanese man lives as naked hermit

Yup…Obama gets one tiny mention (and not even giving the context about why the Secret Service was bragging about anything)

As we all know, the D+9 poll is intended to DRIVE public opinion…NOT reflect it.

Of course, when the media DID cover Obama’s (continuing) appalling lack of geographical knowledge (57 States?), they covered it like THIS:
Headline – “Barack Obama makes Falklands gaffe by calling Malvinas the Maldives.”

First paragraph – Barack Obama made an uncharacteristic error, more akin to those of his predecessor George W Bush, by referring to the Falkland Islands as the Maldives.

Amazing! Yup, when they are forced to report a mistake by Obama…they work in a dig against Bush.

ahhh…I wondered when this would show up:
    http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/power-players-abc-news/third-name-ballot-november-101947551.html

“Americans Elect” is the Soros funded, and easily Democrat Party linked, group out to provide a “3rd Choice” in the Fall. The “3rd Choice” will be [gasp!] a disaffected REPUBLICAN! (most likely Ron Paul, Buddy Roehmner, etc).

The goal is pretty obvious, spend MILLIONS of $$$$ to promote someone who will siphon off just enough votes from Romney to hand the election to Obama.

They state they will campaign against BOTH Obama and Romney…but given that 100% of their funding comes from Soros-linked groups, the reality is that they will find ways to pump up Obama, while denigrating Romney.

The media could, of course, expose this…but instead, as the Yahoo story shows, they are PROMOTING IT!
