Bishop: Obama Following Path of Hitler & Stalin

When Barack Obama (and Kathleen Sebelius) took on the Catholic Church with mandates covering contraception and abortion, they probably didn’t think the Church would mount much of a battle. And, they surely didn’t plan for the likes of Daniel R. Jenky, Bishop of Peoria.

In addition to blasting Obama, Bishop Janky also took aim at “Nancy Pelosi Catholics” – people like Pelosi, Sebelius, Lisa Murkowski and John Kerry, who claim to be Catholic but whose actions are diametrically opposed to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

In a homily delivered Saturday, Bishop Daniel R. Jenky of the Diocese of Peoria, Illinois challenged President Obama’s HHS mandate, suggesting that the president was following the same path as Hitler and Stalin.

“Hitler and Stalin, at their better moments, would just barely tolerate some churches remaining open, but would not tolerate any competition with the state in education, social services, and health care,” Jenky said. “In clear violation of our First Amendment rights, Barack Obama – with his radical, pro abortion and extreme secularist agenda, now seems intent on following a similar path.” Jenky added.

Jenky reminded the men of the Catholic Church’s history of surviving threats from Jihadi, Nazism and Communism and called them to stand up for their faith.

Denouncing the “entrenched corruption and sheer incompetence” of the Illinois state government, Jenky also criticized Catholic politicians who “pretend to be Catholic.”

“May God have mercy on the souls of those politicians who pretend to be Catholic in church, but in their public lives, rather like Judas Iscariot, betray Jesus Christ by how they vote and how they willingly cooperate with intrinsic evil,” he said.

Bishop Jenky was appointed Bishop of Peoria by Pope John Paul II in 2002.

May God bless Bishop Janky. We need thousands of bishops and priests with his strength and courage.

    Bravo!!!!

God bless this man…we need more of the clergy, regardless of faith, to stand with him!

Obama IS trying to erode the influence of the Catholic Church…he knows they provide a counter-balance to his ObamaCare (with their hospitals), to PlannedParenthood (with their defense of life), and to the Left’s idealogy of hedonism (with their support for families).

ALL other Christians and Jews should…MUST…stand with this man of God.

Good Post, I have a number of things to add that I have seen here in W. MIchigan.

We have a number of priests in the Grand Rapids diocese that are in a real predicament. They openly have talked about how great Obama and liberal policies are for the poor and vote dem. Now, they are getting the message from our Bishop to read letters denouncing the president and his mandates on the church.

We have one priest who loved to talk politics anywhere anytime. Now, conservatives are really piling on him about his past voting practices and he tries to change the subject.

I subbed at the local Catholic High School and the priest saying Mass in front of the students, during the petition of prayers, added one to help fight President Obama and his attempt to control the Catholic Church. And that is just about the way he said it. It was like—“WOW, I’ve never heard anything like that.

I can think of no major institution that hasn’t been infected by the quislings of the left, leaving their trail of excrement wherever they slither.

    I love dissecting polls.

Now Gallup has Romney 48% to Obama 43%,

Yet Obama’s approval in Gallup is 46%.

So 3% of people that approve of Obama’s performance won’t vote for him.

And CNN has the president getting 52% of the vote and Gallup has him getting 43%. A 9 percentage point difference.

I don’t drink enough to understand!

    I love the term quislings.

If anyone has time you need to read about the guy from Norway and WWII and working with the Nazis. I think his name was Victor. My memory no good any more.

You’re right. God acts in mysterious ways. For far too long the Catholic Church was a “Dick Lugar-type” church – going along to get along. The mandates convinced the bishops that this was the wrong approach. I expect that the more traditional Protestant and Jewish denominations will provide some level of support. But the more liberal denominations (ECLA, Episcopals, Presbyterians, Methodists, etc. are “beyond redemption.

I expect that – like many Obama voters – many priests suffer from white guilt. Most k-12 Catholic schools are strong supporters of the faith and our country and are well worth the investment. Most Catholic colleges are no different than their state counterparts.

    6. MIC I noticed the same re Gallup, the JA may be adults though, the RvsO is registered voters, or at least that was my impression reading their blurbs and what I chocked up that weirdness too initially. I suppose it is conceivable though that 2-3% might say he’s doing an ok job but want someone else to a do much better job.

KH-That is a complete BS poll.

Romney is losing in the Florida poll and then they ask what if Rubio is the VEEP. With Rubio as the VEEP the poll has Romney losing by MORE than the original poll in Florida. The only person that helps is Jeb Bush? OMG!!!! IS PPP trying to get Romney to put a Bush on the ticket to help Obama win?

I knew an sweet old lady years ago. Her favorite saying fits here.

    SHE’D EXCLAIM…..”WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT!”

It’s amazing how you can just glance at the poll and find how screwed up it is. They don’t even try to hide the problems.

The Bishop’s made a pact with the devil. They were burned for it by God Almighty. (Obama is too low to be considered. He was just the instrument.) My only hope is that the CC sees this for what it is and forevermore forgoes dealing with Uncle.

Drdog…you’d a thought the Bishop’s would have taken the time to watch ‘The Devil and Daniel Webster’ (or a dozen other movies) before they signed that pact with Obama back in 2008. Deals with the Devil ALWAYS turn out to be crap!

    KH, 7,

OK the middle class is doomed. Guess what, the fat cats get to go first when the demise line forms. Look, capitalism in many ways is like the African Veld. The fat cats of wall street are the apex predator ya know. What happens to predators when their food source shrinks? They go into population collapse. Fact they do so long before their food base disappears. Some of the Gazelles will always survive, the Bulls and the Bears not so much.

Those Corps that think they won’t be affected by a missing middle class are in for a rude awakening. With no middle class there will be no StarBucks on every corner, a Lexus in every garage and a Donzi down at the boat yard. With no customers the CEO’s, CFO’s and CIO’s get the purge from the institutional investors.

Pride before the Fall maybe? Personally I can’t explain the blindness the Church perceived in this.
