The Price of Freedom

2012 April 13
by justrand

If I had a nickel for every story I’ve read about someone who is addicted to hard drugs (crack, heroin, or methamphetamine, etc) going out and selling their body to put themselves through college…well, I wouldn’t have a nickel, now would I?

Because addicts don’t prostitute themselves and/or rob (and kill) people for money in order to better their situation…they do so in order to BUY MORE DRUGS!

So when our Crack-Whore Federal Government (with apologies to hard working crack-whores) says they want to “raise revenues” (aka: “Taxes”)…they’re not doing so in order to pay down the debt and relieve some of the burden hanging over all our heads. Nope! They want more revenue to buy more “drugs”…aka: VOTES! Votes that will keep them in power, and give them power over you and me!

And anyone who suggests that our Crack Whore Federal Government seek help for their addiction to our money is immediately assaulted as a fiscal Hannibal Lector!

Case in point…Paul Ryan proposed, and the House passed, a budget last week. This budget spends MORE in 2012 and 2013, and increases spending by one TRILLION dollars over the next decade. Spends more…increases spending. Clear?

Here are some of the titles of articles talking about the Paul Ryan budget:

  • “Paul Ryan’s Savage Spending Cuts” – Jonathan Alter, Bloomberg
  • Paul Ryan’s budget would Slash $6 trillion” – Politico
  • House approves Ryan budget plan to cut spending” – WaPo
  • Radical Cuts in Ryan Budget”…”Cruel Cuts to Entitlements” – multiple media outlets (simultaneously)

Huh? Again, the proposed and passed budget spends MORE on Entitlements in 2012 and 2013…and INCREASES spending over the next decade. Yet these are “Savage Spending Cuts”??

Only our Crack Whore Federal Government (and its sycophant media) would describe MORE spending as SLASHING spending. That’s because they want MORE “crack, heroine, and methamphetamine” (aka: TAXES!), and the only way to justify MORE taxes is to spend MORE…and accelerate spending faster than Paul Ryan is proposing to accelerate it. Thus spending MORE money at a SLOWER pace is, in Washington speak: “SLASHING spending!”

Confused?

We cannot remain free, unless we truly understand how our government operates…and we are clear on what the words and actions of our politicians and media mean. There are a lot of books that can help clear up any lingering confusion you have…but one in particular comes to mind. A paperback copy will cost you about $6 at any bookstore. Thus six bucks becomes this week’s Price of Freedom…six bucks for a copy of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Enjoy!

In 1960 the U.S. debt was approximately $100 million (or about $55 per man, woman and child). Today it’s $49,900 per citizen and $138,000 per taxpayer.

In 1960 all a family of four would have had to do to pay it $220 share would have been to do some cost cutting for about three months. Today a family of four’s share may be worth more than their house.

Having a ring side seat to the uncontrolled spending, and the unfazed, unashamed, and unaware attitudes that those are dollars TAKEN from the hardworking members of our private sector (and a little from their overinflated paychecks) has been an extremely depressing experience.

There are days when I think I should get a job cleaning up a slaughter house or inspecting sewer pipes from the inside as a refreshing change to a wholesome and clean working environment.

My recommendation from months ago has not changed. I regret that I have but one life to give for my country.

Unfortunately, it’s not the first week of November.

You can bet that members of the Obama campaign staff are meeting with members of the media to discuss ways to reverse this.

If the MSM has to, it will go full-Palin on Mittens to re-elect Obama.

Just like with McCain, now that Romney has pretty much sewn-up the nomination, they will take off the kid gloves.

As bad as Romney is as a nominee, every day Newt Gingrich manages to demonstrate that he would have been far worse.

the midnight to 5am (CST) RedEye Radio took caller after caller talking about the sacrifices their family made so that they could raise their own children instead of handing them over to strangers.

Give their children their values and not those of some day care worker (or public school).

Another issue is that this Hillary Rosen has a 7 figure income…what the f does she know about how that waitress feels the economy and how to pay for her child care.

The obscene thing is Obama saying he and Moosehell could not afford the luxury of her not working (the double negatives were his…not mine) becomes even more absurd when it is known that jug-ears was making over $100K a year. They could most certainly afford the luxury of Moosehell staying home with the children if they were willing to give up some of those other luxuries.

The Obama’s decided a house, cars, clothing, food, life-style was more important than a parent staying home with them.

I hope to hell this is the gift that keeps on giving until November.

More voters think Obama’s policies have hurt (37 percent) rather than helped the economy (31 percent). Three in 10 say his policies haven’t made much a difference either way (31 percent).

link to Fox news poll story

    What a shame

37% of the population is so economically illiterate and IQ deficient that they think Obama has helped…. How do these people tie their tennis shoes? Do the new Nikes have Velcro straps?

Sadly, another 30% of the population is ignorant and that fence post stuck so far up their butts that it appears questionable whether it can be dislodged long enough to educate these folks

I guess the 32% of us who know Obama and his policies have made the economy worse have our work cut out for us.

judy, the scariest part of the stats in the poll (37 percent – hurt, 31 percent – helped, 31 percent – no change) is that I would bet you could jump in your time machine and go back to 1938 Germany just before Kristallnacht and do a similar poll of German Jews…with identical results!

Question: “Do you think Hitler’s policies will (a) Help German Jews (b) Harm German Jews or (c) Make no difference to German Jews”

    You’d get very similar results.

Of course, then Kristallnacht happened…and it was all but too late.

Why would Obama want tax records on Romney from the 70’s? If we assume 1970 Romney would have been 25yo. At that age I had minimal assets — car, few dollars in the bank and a huge bar bill. Even with rich daddy I would suggest that Romney would not had much more. He did not formulate Bain Capital till much later and had only been in Wall Street for about a year.

That trimaran was designed to engage patrol boats, terrorists in boats and the like. Head to head with a chinese destroyer in open water its a sitting duck. Though I would hazard a sharp crew in a inshore engagement in dense fog against the same chinese destroyer could probably sink it and be gone. The thing can do 50 knots in the right conditions and its shape gives it a radar signature smaller than a B2 bomber. So you putt putt into range under low revs let loose a couple of antiships and at about half the AS’s traveling distance let go the throttles and get the hell out of there.

I have noticed a preference for Disney characters in the last two posts. A theme?

    JM –

Here’s an article on Blake Griffith from si.com. I didn’t have a chance to read it, but it probably talks about NBA Basketball being a favorite sport of liberal Democrats:

Being that I lack imagination and life experience (and don’t even get me started on my clear case of Stockholm Syndrome), it should be pretty obvious that I am not a democrat. I do love me some Blake Griffin though….I’m not gonna lie.

Believe it or not…he’s half black. His mom is a red head. That kid is crazy talented. The recent dunks over Gasol were superman-like.

The NRA speech was excellently written … and I’ll give it to Mitt… excellently given.

If he can use that blend of reason and vocal tone of sincerity, concern, and compassion as his starting point and keep it fresh and improve… then I feel better about his ability to take on Obama.

In total agreement with the land down under, the US has brought this upon themselves and has the gall to complain? Just unreal.

“As the presidential campaign swirls around a war for the allegiance of American women, the Obama campaign is relying on an explosive — and highly questionable — charge to draw pro-choice women into the President’s camp: That Mitt Romney would “outlaw abortion” if elected”
    ….

Pretty funny since I don’t even know many republicans that would believe this, let alone the democrats and indies the campaign is trying to scare with the this stretched line.

okay, the article described (linked within the link) IS impressive in that the author really does manage to avoid labling Edwards a [gasp!] “Democrat”…and yet really does weave the word “Republican” in five times…including in a sub-heading that makes it seem like John Edwards was a Repulican all along!!! Just wow!

judy, that was a good speech…he is getting better. He needs to keep improving…and show some emotion.

One of Gingrich’s strengths is his ability to use charged words to convey emotion…which Mitt might want to adopt. Palin does this too…and both she and Newt infuriate the Left when they do!

The perfect example was when Sarah skipped over the antiseptically named “Administrative Medical Whatchmacallit Boards” and just called ’em what they are: “Death Panels”.

But all in all…a much improved Mitt Romney. And America is finding out what a gem Ann Romney is (despite the media now rallying massively to Hilary Rosen’s defense)

just wow…a GREAT article [hattip Powerline for the link]
    http://www.bookwormroom.com/2012/04/13/the-real-threat-that-the-ann-romneys-of-the-world-represent/

This is the best analysis/commentary of the whole Ann Romney thing I read. This is the conclusion, but read the whole thing:

I am the counterweight to the state. Therefore, I am dangerous. I am subversive simply by existing. My love for my children is a dominant force that works its way into their psyches and that trumps the state-run schools and the state complicit media world. Some mothers, of course, are entirely in sync with schools and media. They happily reinforce the statist message. But those of us who don’t are a powerful anti-statist force and we must be challenged.

The Left’s problem with Ann Romney transcends her husband’s wealth, her (and his) Republican identification, and her decision to work for her children, rather than for a paying employer. The Left’s problem with Ann Romney is that she represents the triumph of the individual. No wonder they hate her so much.
