The World’s Redoubt

[this is a companion to “48% of Brits Want to Leave UK“…since many of those who want to leave, want to come here]

To the early settlers of this great nation, before it even WAS a nation, it was obvious there was something different about this place. Even before we fought a war to win our freedom from England, people were freer here than anywhere on Earth. God truly shed his grace on this land we now call the United States of America.

The word filtered back across the Atlantic, and more and more people sought the blessings of Liberty. By the time the British sought to re-exert strict Colonial control it was too late, Freedom won out.

From that point forward peoples around the world came to view America as THE place they could flee to or aspire to, to be free. Free economically, religiously, personally.  Whenever and wherever people were oppressed they would turn their eyes to America…even if they were unable to make their way here, they at least could take heart in knowing we existed.  And they could take heart in knowing that we would, if we could, seek to help them.  With our charity, our military, our support. In a word, we were the world’s Redoubt.

The dictionary defines “Redoubt” as: “a secure retreat : stronghold”

In his Inaugural Address on January 20, 1981, Reagan didn’t use the word ‘Redoubt’…but that was what he meant when he said this:

We as Americans have the capacity now, as we’ve had in the past, to do whatever needs to be done to preserve this last and greatest bastion of freedom.

Then as now we still have the capacity…though it is eroding. But what is eroding even faster is the WILL to “preserve this last and greatest bastion of freedom”…this redoubt.

And if this redoubt falls, there will be no other for generations…maybe ever.

Many of us are concerned that Mitt Romney will not focus on securing and strengthening this ‘redoubt’…and indeed he may not. But what he will NOT do is work to tear it down. Which is exactly what Obama and his ilk are trying to do. From Obama’s “apology tour”, to Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s statement that nations should NOT use our Constitution as a model, to the (Democrat supported) OWS crowd actively looking to change us into a Socialist/Marxist State, this redoubt of our is being eroded from the inside.

We DO still have the capacity to “preserve this last and greatest bastion of freedom”…2012 may well answer once and for all if we still have the WILL.

I have come to the conclusion that 9 black robes hold the fate of this country in their hands. Their decision on ObamaCare will come before the election. Should they concur that the law is constitutional then the election of 2012 is moot. A yea vote by 9 will —

    * Shred the 5th Amendment. The govt may take by force should you not pay the tax if you don’t have health insurance.
    * Shred the 4th Amendment. The govt will have access to all your financial records, your health records, and from there your personal habits.
    * Render the 10 Amendment moot.
    * Turn a 6th of the economy and all practitioners in that economy into indentured servants. That renders most of the 14th Amendment moot.

It can’t get any worse than that. I think.

Zulu is highly under rated film. It did well in England at the time but its international release had rather weak results. Another great English film was The Four Feathers, 1939. (The 2002 version is trash in my opinion.)

Unbelieveable arrogance. Millions are unemployed and the national debt is approaching $16 trillion, yet Moochelle and the “Little Mooches” go to Hawaii on a seperate plane, costing taxpayers more than $100,000.

Yet the media is silent … the same media that had a cow over Sarah Palin’s $125k campaign wardrobe that was ordered by ditzy Nicolle Wallace.

One of the key things to remember if that prior to 1965 the majority of those emmigrating to the U.S. were from Europe. In recent years, 85% + of new immigrants have come from Mexico, Central America, Haiti or third world countries.

    drdog, great observation in #3!

and p.s. on comment #4…I believe they HAD gatling guns in the British column that was wiped out just days before. What that column lacked was leadership…and a REDOUBT!

p.p.s. and yes, the original ‘Four Feathers’ is a splendid movie. I watched about 1/2 of the remake and switched it off. Pure trash…with a political spin.

As an approach to our mountain of debt, the Buffett Rule is a farce. And yet Obama repeated the ridiculous claim again this week. “It will help us close our deficit.” Does he really think we’re that stupid?

AGAIN… We need to stop asking this question of whether Obama thinks we are that stupid. The answer is unchanged. Given the overwhelming evidence as displayed by his actions and the outrageous statements Obama makes there are only two possibilities:

    1) Obama is stupid.
    2) Obama thinks American voters are stupid enough to believe the nonsense that he reads off a teleprompter.

IT IS ABOUT TIME… that we stop asking the question and start making the statement

Obama has no respect for the people who vote for him. Obama said ….. which demonstrates that Obama thinks his voters are stupid enough to believe him.

    Judy –

Why the GOP hasn’t been calling Warren Buffet out as a hypoctite since Berkshire-Hathaway owes over a billion in back taxes, some of nwhich dates back 10 years, is a mystery to me.

Also, there is a provision for anyone who wishes to make a contribution to the federal government, something none of the frauds have taken advantage of.

    Judy,

I hate to say it, but in 16 states the voters are exactly that stupid — http://blogs.reuters.com/david-cay-johnston/2012/04/12/taxed-by-the-boss/.

Many of these same states are clamoring to raise even more revenue. Well first of all, they need to revoke these deals and get the monies. Damn.
