Target to Sell Gay-Themed Items; Donate Profits

Remember a couple of years ago when Target Stores refused Salvation Army bell ringers access to its stores during the holiday season? While the Salvation Army may be taboo at Target, gay advocacy causes definitely are not. Target has just announced that it will distribute gay items (tee shirts, etc.) promoting controversial causes such as gay marriage and donate profits (up to $120,000) to a gay activist group.

Pro-family groups are taking major U.S. merchandiser Target Corporation to task for its recently announced initiative to raise money for homosexual activism. Two years after getting into hot water with homosexual groups for backing Republican Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, who supported a state amendment to define marriage as only between a man and a woman, the Minnesota-based Target Corp. is now “inching into the gay-pride market,” reported the St. Paul Pioneer Press, “offering 10 rainbow-themed T-shirts for sale online and promising to donate 100 percent of the proceeds to the Family Equality Council [FEC], a group for gay and lesbian families.”

Target spokeswoman Molly Snyder said that the company “supports inclusively and diversity in every aspect of our business and has a long history of supporting the LGBT community through giving, volunteerism, and event sponsorship and participation.” Snyder told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that the “gay pride” promotion was sparked by an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) group among Target’s employees, and snowballed into a line of merchandise promoting the politically and culturally polarizing cause. “Over the past year, we heard from our team members and guests that they’d like to see an assortment of Pride merchandise available at Target,” Snyder said.

That assortment includes a collection of ten “gay pride” T-shirts, each retailing for $12.99, with up to $120,000 of the profits going to help the FEC push for the legalization of same-sex “marriage” in the United States. Snyder explained that the T-shirt promotion will coincide with Minneapolis’ annual homosexual “pride” festival in late June — a two-day event notorious for the in-your-face public displays of debauchery by many of its participants.

It’s one thing to sell gay pride tee shirts; it’s another thing to donate up to $120,000 in profits to the Family Equality Council. Can anyone remember Target doing anything for the families of U.S. military or families that have lost a member of the families of soldiers killed or seriously wounded defending our country?

Once again we see a “favored minority” receiving preferential treatment … this time by a national retailer.

Hat tip:

Has the chain pasted a giant “target” on its back?

“Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few…No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”

Target must be schizoid. You know that Target donates 2:1 in favor of Republicans? Go figure eh?

Retailers that delve into controversial social issues is going to suffer the consequences. Their choice……I simply won’t support Home Depot and Target, and others that come to my attention.

    JR #6 –

No different than China. China has about 17% more men than women because of selective sex abortions.

Planned Infantcide must be SOOOOOO proud of being “No different than China”

The howl will come when/if a test can be done to determine “sexual orientation” to a reasonable extent. Then if people start aborting THOSE babies you will see laws quickly enacted preventing THAT.

Of course, if they determine a test for “Likely Conservative” then they’ll abort ALL those babies! 👿

JR – it’s a shame that so many Americans want to our culture and values to become like those of third world hellholes.

No surprise, but, which produced this, is run by Lila Rose. How can someone who is so young (23) accomplish so much and be so fearless?

Which is strange because Target was started by the Dayton family … as in liberal Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton.

Since Target wants to be so inclusive, I’m sure they will have no problem selling pro-life tee shirts and giving the profits to Lila Rose.

    BC, 10,

That was from the latest FEC reports I saw online. Maybe Target is just smelling where the wind is blowing and does not reflect their long term ethics.

As I’ve said before, imagine if someone who died in 1960 came back to life. How shocked would they be to find an organization supported by the federal government performing sex-based abortions and one of the country’s largest ratailers financially supporting homosexual marriage?

My own perspective. At some point I would realize that technically I was already ‘dead’ in the eyes of many. So the life I live now I would live to the maximum for you can’t kill me twice.

    More power to her!

So are the liberals that nuts?? Women as a class are more supportive of liberal positions. So they are taking a postion that will preemptively reduce the numbers of their supporters? Makes a lot of sense.

I don’t imagine Lila Rose is the most popular student on the UCLA campus.

Did I mention that she’s hot?

I agree drdog09. But, part of the responsibility is our (conservative’s) fault for not publicizing the ways in which liberals are abusing women. This would be an ideal item to publicize. The left has totally controlled the dialogue with women and they have made “choice” the litmus test.

Getting more white women (womyn?) to vote Republican would be a heck of a lot easier than getting more blacks or Jews to vote Republican … and there are far more white women than blacks or Jews.

I would also presume that liberals are more likely to have abortions than conservatives, so the majority of the aborted babies would have been born into liberal families.
