The NetRoots are Restless and the Democrats are Worried

2012 June 11
by drdog09

But not necessarily that one is the cause of the other. The Democratic coalition is nothing but a bunch of teat suckers needing a head sow herder. That is what `she who has frizzed hair by 110v` is role is. But there is discontent in the ranks!

But I would not look for some grand unifying theme in their mega angst. There isn’t any. Just as there is no grand unifying theme for its constituents other than staying close to the hog. Its in pieces —

1) Obama is Destroying us! This is made up of the Lanny Davis, Bill Clinton, Pat Caddell old line liberals. They see the party being torn apart on the basis of the old share-a-like theme that the party has been known for. To a point they are right. Obama is not sharing any of his funding this time around. Worse he is applying that old Chicago politik — “What’s ya done for me lately?” Which for any old line liberal means, not much and get to the back of the line.

2) The Repubs out spent us 7:1 in Wisconsin! Well not exactly true. Best count is maybe 1.5:1 if you add in all the outside funding sources from all players. But the Dems do have a right to be concerned. The labor unions have been a consistent funding source for the party since the 20’s. As States see that one way out of their funding mess is to follow the Wisconsin model the dues paying numbers in government unions will drop with less money for the labor PACs. The question is do the unions start hedging their political contributions in the future?

3) The Youth vote, like Dude! The youth vote is wising up. Many may not even show up for this election. They will sit it out in their parents basements. Not to say they don’t have a reason to be despondent. Their age group is taking the brunt of this recession, 20-25% on average. Those that do have jobs are not working in their chosen profession they went to school for.

For these reasons and more, Democrats will have greater and greater difficulty keeping the Blue Model going. That fact was reflected in the NetRoots convention in RI. More here.

Couldn’t happen to a better group.

And yet Gallup somehow had Obama at 50% today…amazing. Obama should be in the thirties…and probably will be by the election.

Still, I’m loving the Blue on Blue!!

I would say Conventional Wisdom is Obama is liked personally, but people hate his policies. Or at least their impact. I would not put too much stock in it. Heck Nixon has a personal likability in the 30’s when he stepped on Marine One leaving the WH. But that does not translate that well into votes.

“But what we need are not minor adjustments but rather a fundamental shift in our philosophy of government. If we could come to our senses about the proper role of government in America, and what level of government interference is appropriate in a free economy, we would quickly find that there is no reason for government to spend so much, borrow so much and tax so much.

If we simply allowed markets to work free of governmental or Federal Reserve interference, bad debt would be liquidated relatively quickly and malinvestment would be curtailed. Scaled-back regulations would encourage businesses to expand. Lower taxes would jump start investment and spur job creation.

This is not rocket science; it is Economics 101. All it would take is for government to get out of the way. There would be some short-term pain, of course, but only by allowing the bubble to burst and bad debt to liquidate can we ever hope to begin building a real economy again.”

“The lie is that “a little bit of theft and murder is necessary for society”. We’re all indoctrinated with this from birth. But once you allow “a little bit” you have no consistent grounds to evaluate the “little bit” vs someone who wants a little bit more.

Eventually you have to either decide that theft isn’t so bad, so more is just fine so long as it serves my purposes, or you have to decide that theft isn’t okay and it can’t be approved of no matter the justification.

Constantly shifting the little bit towards the smaller size may be useful for demonstrating that we can thrive with less theft than we have now, so maybe no theft is a viable option, but so long as the mechanism for theft is there the pressures to expand that theft will be persistent.

    Jim O’Connor”

This will stop `no knock` in its tracks —

Police officers in Indiana are upset over a new law allowing residents to use deadly force against public servants, including law enforcement officers, who unlawfully enter their homes. It was signed by Republican Governor Mitch Daniels in March.

The first of its kind in the United States, the law was adopted after the state Supreme Court went too far in one of its rulings last year, according to supporters. The case in question involved a man who assaulted an officer during a domestic violence call. The court ruled that there was “no right to reasonably resist unlawful entry by police officers.”

The state is Indiana. Mitch Daniels signed it into law without a blink.

They will do anything to defend the hapless obama, but this takes the prize.

So, we have to reevaluate how bad Nixon was 40 years ago, and determine he was worse than we thought, to make our guy look better today.

    Greece is in collapse —

“Many people are putting money in shares of mutual funds denominated in dollars because of the bureaucratic difficulty of taking money out of Greece, or are keeping cash at home, the newspaper said.” How much? “Deposits are leaving the banking system at a rate of 100 million to 500 million euros ($125 million to $625 million) a day, Kathimerini said, without specifying over how long a period that rate of outflow has continued.”

At this pace the only money that will be in Greek banks will be IMF, ECB, and Fed funds. The average Greek will have skipped town with what little money they have left.

This is primarily because Obama and Moochelle are always positively portrayed by the media – very little mention of the First Lady’s expensive tastes, flying seperately to Martha’s Vineyard, Hawaii, etc.

No sitting President before has ever campaigned so extensively on the taxpayers dime, but you wouldn’t know it following MSM.

Really need to point something out. The Republicans could sit on their arse and win this election. Here’s how it goes.

    * Big chunk of discussion about the Bush Tax Cuts expiring ….. by the Democrats.
    * Why? They see the handwriting on the wall.
    * Corps are right now preparing for their budget cycle for 2013. Most will have completed it by Sept/Oct. So if Congress has not done an extension by say July the Corps will factor higher tax rates in their plans before the funding cycle finishes.
    * That means less hiring. That means unemployment stays high the balance of the year.

The rest of course is history. There won’t be much Obama can do other than point to the Repubs as the culprit. Boehner needs to be stepping up with the game plan on how to blunt that charge and Romney needs to assist.
