Is Obama Going to the Bullpen?

2012 August 16
by bc3b

Was the “shackles” comment the straw that broke the camel’s back for Joe Biden?

Barack Obama is having a meeting with Joe Biden today. Could Team Obama be going to the bullpen and bring in lefty Hillary Clinton in relief of Slo Joe?

President Barack Obama and his mistake-prone vice president, Joe Biden, are having lunch today, a weekly occurrence that takes on far more significance than usual in the wake of controversy surrounding several of Biden’s recent statements.

While the lunch was probably already scheduled, it’s practically impossible that Biden’s campaign trail remarks will fail to come up given the clamor they have provoked. There is even a growing chorus of suggestions – mainly from Republicans – that Biden is not up to the job and should be replaced on the ticket.

The session could easily end up a trip to the woodshed for Biden or, though it’s unlikely, something far worse.

Biden this week suggested that Gov. Mitt Romney would put African Americans back chains and, in a separate appearance, indicated that we are all still living in the 20th century. The statements are just the latest in a series of mistakes – assuming the comment about African Americans was unscripted – in the past few months that have raised concerns about Biden.

Most famously, he blurted out on Meet the Press that he favored gay marriage, forcing President Obama to hastily emerge with his own statement of support.

Hat tip: White House Dossier

Time to bring in the veteran lefty?

Most of Biden’s errors during the past three and a half years have been unforced. Biden made 15 mistakes during the 2008 Vice Presidential debate, yet the media declared him the winner.

She would be joining a losing team.By 2016 the great unwashed would be so sick of dopey changey, they wouldn’t even consider another dim.

ip, I agree but I also could see her take it if she feels it is a good move. Plus, for Clintons it is more about being on the big show. She is if she ran now. (evn if they lose)

I think he might/will dump him but it won’t be for Hillary. It opens the door for the Charlie Foxtrot, now known as the Middle East, on her personal watch per her title. It may superficially look and feel like a good move but won’t have the impact expected.

The Clintons are a lot of things, but they are not stupid. Bill obviously has a strong dislike for Obama. Both Bill and Hillary seem power hungry and Bill never met a spot light he didn’t like, but I will honestly be surprised if Hillary is willing to end the Clinton legacy for the good of the party. But then, most of the cr@p liberals do boggles my mind, so…

As to Hillary. They don’t have enough money or influence to have her take the number 2 spot. The only advantage for her would be the executive experience angle. But being tagged with the ‘worse administration in history’ won’t help her chances for a run in 2016.

The first time I ever saw Barbara Bush was in 1980 and I honestly thought she was George H.W. Bush’s mother. She looked 85 when she was 55. There are few women that I detest more than Hillary Clinton, but Old Barbara Bush ranks among them.

From the comments over at the Washington Examiner:

Sara Palins comments were calculated, knowing Obama would not want to be seen as taking her advise and assure that Biden remains on the ticket which is good for the Republicans

I was thinking the same thing. If Obama keeps Biden on, he’ll continue to hurt his chances of winning in November. If he gives Biden the boot, then he just took Palin’s advice after four years of his side bashing her for being dumb. So it looks like he just got check-mated by a “dumb” person.

#15 Keep in mind though, Obama is a man-child. He’ll just say “well I thought of it first and stuff, I just didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to hurt Joe’s feelings”. Bet on it. I do think he will ditch Joe. I do think that he’ll try for Hillary…but even he has to know that if he goes that route- he is putting his own life at risk. Clintons will not play second fiddle. They play the same “golly, we have no idea why everyone around us ‘mysteriously’ dies” game that Obama plays.

I have been reading various sites that point to this really going either way, with good arguments for both. I believe that if Obama picks Hillary, we lose. The rush of excitement coming from the left will be just as exciting as what comes from the right when it comes to the VP pick, and when you combine that with rampant fraud?????

I share your concern. I never understood why Obama selected Biden in 2008 (foreign policy experience?).

The Dems need a shot in the arm and replacing Biden with Hillary could do that. If a change is coming, it must be before the Dem’s convention (probably the weekend before to reduce the Romney-Ryan bump after the GOP convention).

If she can serve as Sec State, there is undoubtedly some scenario where she would take a VP “draft”. The question then is, would she want to win, or discretely torpedo Obie’s chances, positioning herself as the only Dem bright light in the nastiest, most dismal presidential campaign ever.

I say bring it – the clearest choice in a presidential election imaginable, then if the electorate thinks Obie & PIAPS are the best we can do, time to saddle up for the Gulch.

The Dem’s bench is actually weaker than the Pubbies.

My choice would be Evan Bayh although he may be too reasonable for the dems. He would attract more moderate voters. He is handsome, but not terribly exciting. He’s also the closest thing to a sane Democrat there is. I just looked at the Dem. senators and no one stuck out (in a good way). Is there a governor – how about Moonbeam?

#15 — I have to agree. I think Sarah Palin, et al are out there playing the Democrats. I know that the last person the Democrats would ever want to appear as giving advise they will follow is Palin. So by Sarah stepping up and saying Obama needed to dump Biden (which we all know that Biden hurts Obama… especially now that people are not in a stupor over Obama) pushed the Obama campaign into keeping Biden on the ticket.

And Biden will be the gift that keeps giving. Now I believe that Obama initially picked Biden because he wanted the comparison of looking smarter than he is by standing next to the idiot. But now the selection of Biden is painted as the first of Obama’s horrible executive decisions that only looks worse by the selection of Paul Ryan. The media can’t paint Ryan as stupid they way they did Palin. True Ryan is smarter than Palin, but Palin is far from the stupid chicky that the media portrayed.

I get all warm and fuzzy inside thinking Palin has a hand in playing the Obama campaign.

Hopefully Romney’s Team won’t treat Ryan like McCain’s team treated Palin – not letting him speak his mind and blaming the VP candidate for the campaign team’s mistakes (e.g. ditzy Nicolle Wallace and the $125k wardrobe/ 4+ hours of interview time with Katie Couric. Give me 4+ hours of interview time with Ryan and I can come up with a 10 minute broadcast piece that makes him look bad).
