Well if the games get boring you can watch this old 1960’s Philco-Ford vision of the future from the 1960’s — http://youtu.be/88sgyfGFTKo — We were such saps.

drdog – maybe the politicians and a large number of people don’t realize how bad things are and how bad they are going to get. But there is a significant number of people loading up for the End of the World as we Know it.

As a friend of mine is fond of saying – “I am loaded for Bear and pity the poor Bunny that crosses my path.”

Simpson Bowles is the best option out there. It is the product of the president’s own commission.

Boehner should pass it, and adjourn the House, sending the members back to their districts to face their constituents.

    Zippy then owns whatever happens.

If a government shutdown ensues, the producers can weather it fiscally and physically.

I don’t think the food stamp recipients can manage as well, nor do I think they will have minutes on their obamaphones to complain.

#11 I am about 1.5 hours (in traffic, but there’s always traffic) from downtown LA. We went to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the space shuttle a couple of weeks ago, and Apple maps rerouted us through this awful section of hell (off of the 2) in order to switch freeways to the 110 a handful of seconds faster. The difference between that area on a good day, and my area on the worst day ever of mankind is still the difference between the heat of a thousand suns and the heat of your clothes when you take them out of the dryer. I cannot even imagine what that area will look like when the shtf, nor do I want to. Having said that, my area will probably look similar to their area (in its current form) within a week of shtf, tops. My neighbors are utterly clueless about this, and none of them are prepared, or feel as though they need to be. THAT is what I find to be the scariest thing.

Fear can be a powerful tool if used correctly. Folks can be organized if it is their best interest and they are not airheads.

Whittle is good and correct when he says that th the problem with many Republicans is that they don’t believe their message.

I had a woman call tonight soliciting money for the GOP House Campaign Committee. After I hung up, I felt sorry for her because I really gave her a piece of my mind.

Idiot Bob Costas uses the KC Chiefs murder/suicide as an opportunity to get on an anti-gun soapbox. “If Jovan Belcher didn’t have a gun, two people would still be alive today.”

What does one say in the face of such moronic logic? My childhood friend lost his mom to a car accident when he was 10 years old. Should we ban cars? I had a niece that drowned in a swimming pool? Should pools be outlawed? Lots of people are electrocuted each year? Maybe we should all we go back to candle light and washboards so God forbid nobody will die a needless death. Of course, idiot Costas would be out of a job because Sunday Night Football requires lights, and TV requires electricity.

Article from The Mail (UK) on Jovan Belcherand today’s ceremonies at the Panthers-Chiefs game.:

Question: why are the Chiefs and NFL fans honoring a man who murdered his girlfriend and mother of his child?

“The reality is that Romney was one of the worst GOP presidential candidates in modern times.

He was not the first choice of most conservative voters but he managed to rise through the ranks in the primary due to conservatives being split 4-5 ways, but also due to a slew of endorsements from conservative leaders and groups that had no business endorsing him – such as Ann Coulter. Repeatedly, Coulter assured conservatives that Romney was one of us and that he would be the “best possible candidate” to face Obama.

But as any conservative from Massachusetts knew, Romney was a liberal at heart who, as Governor, led the nation in passing three of the left’s most sacred issues: Same sex marriage, Cap and Trade, and government control of health care”

I still maintain the election was rigged because Obama is that freakin’ hated (look at the difference between rallies)…..but this is something to think about…..was this the right guy to stand up boldly for Liberty?

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2012/11/27/yes_romney_was_the_problem_116245.html

“And why is that relevant? Well, Romney’s liberal record so compromised him that he was unable to attack Obama on a whole range of issues due to fear of Obama using his own positions from just a few years earlier to make him look like a hypocrite. Whether its Cap and Trade, ObamaCare, gun control, gays in the military, religious freedom or even illegal aliens, Romney took these issues off the table because his own record on these issues was not dissimilar to the Obama record.

Coulter goes even so far as to claim Romney lost because “he was too conservative” on immigration issues. What? Romney never even hit Obama on his unconstitutional action to grant amnesty to two million illegal aliens because, as governor, he endorsed McCain’s amnesty legislation. Indeed, despite his phony attacks on Gov. Rick Perry’s immigration record during the GOP primary, Romney’s actual record on immigration was quite liberal.

The fact is liberal Republicans do not win presidential races. The obvious reason for this is that RINOs do not offer much of a contrast to a Democrat, or at least a contrast so weak it does not motivate voters to support them. You would think we would have learned this lesson from the McCain and Dole debacles. To make things worse, Romney even agreed with Obama on numerous occasions during the debates, missing great opportunities to instead attack the president.

With the economy collapsing all around us, voters were simply not looking for Obama-light.”

“Moreover, Romney’s strategy of looking presidential but saying nothing controversial was an asinine strategy.

All one has to do is watch the old Reagan/Carter debates to see how Reagan strived to showed contrast with Carter at every opportunity.

While Reagan was always civil in the way he stated things, he tore Carter’s head off every chance he got.”

I am not a Romney fan, but whoever wrote that must be sniffing glue. Both McCain and Dole were worse than Romney. Depending on how one defines “modern times,” “One State”
Mondale and Dukakis were worse too.

BC, I would have to agree with you. Dole was especially bad as a candidate. Whittle at the core of his breakers speech had it right. If you don’t have the fire in the belly for standing up for liberty then let someone else who can. That is why I favored Gingrich, flaws and all. For even when he erred, he do so on the side of what is American.
