The Price of Freedom

The Ministry of Truth knocked the Official Unemployment Rate” down to 7.3%, which calmed the masses who have no clue what happened. In reality over the last 2 months alone, 600,000 people LEFT the workforce, while 260,000 jobs were added. THAT is how the rate was reduced.

And that 600,000 is NOT a result of people retiring. In fact, older workers are POSTPONING retirement and/or re-entering the workforce in record numbers. The unemployment rate for workers over 40 is “relatively low”…it’s the rates for those 18-25, and 25-40 that are soaring. So where is the outrage from them???

The cost of EVERY thing that we buy on a regular basis (gasoline, bread, eggs, milk, etc) has SOARED in the last 5 years. Yet the Ministry of Truth tells us that inflation is almost “non-existent”…a mere 2% or so. And those hardest hit? Well, everybody…but mostly those in that same age demographic above, since it makes it even harder to “get ahead”.

So if you have little hope of “getting ahead” (because you can’t find a full-time job, and the money you do earn is increasingly worthless), what do you focus on? Survival!

Freedom PyramidAbraham Maslow created his famous “hierarchy of needs” in the 1940s’ and 1950s’. Whether you buy into it fully (or at all) isn’t what matters…what matters is that the “Progressives” buy into completely! So much so that it is their roadmap for creating their “Utopian Society”.

Layers 1 & 2: Physiological & Safety – food, shelter, security. The government is offering to trade compliance and submission for those things. We’ll provide you with welfare (in all its forms), and security (in exchange for privacy)…if you shut up, and comply.

Layer 3: Love and belonging. We’ll devalue “love” (replacing with sex, see: ‘This Perfect Day‘ by Ira Levin, and ‘Brave New World‘ by Aldous Huxley), and substitute “Community” for “Family”.  It doesn’t REALLY “take a village”…but by saying so it lessens or even removes the responsibility of parents and family to raise their offspring.

Layer 4: Self-Esteem. Easy breezy. Participation awards! We’ll devalue “self-esteem” by making it something that is granted automatically for just showing up! (see Nobel Peace Prize, Barack Obama).

Layer 5: Self-actualization. This one sounds too much like “freedom” for the Progressives. So little by little they have downgraded this, labeling those who choose to go against THEIR plan for humanity as “Neanderthals”, “Racists”, and the like. Group Think…that’s the ticket.

Maslow had it wrong, IMHO. For me, and millions of Americans, that “Freedom” thing begins much lower down the pyramid…in fact it begins at the bottom. It is a fundamental need…and non-negotiable.

The coming struggle is between those who are willing to let the government provide all their basic needs, in exchange for freedom…and those who consider freedom itself to be a basic need.

The Price of Freedom? The means to secure and ensure that basic need: FREEDOM! Gather that means…soon.

So as not to “jump un” JR’s post, the NFL picks will be posted at 2 PM Eastern Time. They are locked and loaded and the cheerleaders are guarding them.

    JR –

First, it’s “funemployment rate.” Minion will be on you on that. There go your rat droppings.

Secondly, have you ever seen a “leader” risk a war on something that has absolutely nothing to do with his country?

About this Maslow fellow, how good was he at things that really count, like being as good as Mullet at picking college games or having an eye for hot cheerleaders?

clearly Maslow should have put “Cheerleaders” on the “Physiological” (Survival!) level! 🙂

“Now China is sending warships to the Syrian coast!!”

    Haha awesome.

01:06:17 that having your ships and ours,
    01:06:21 your aircraft and ours,
01:06:23 in such proximity is inherently dangerous.
01:06:27 Wars have begun that way, Mr. Ambassador.

If he (Lord Obama) had just used the fighter jets available at Incirlik AB in Turkey, we would not have this problem.

There is a quirk in the Status of Forces agreement with Turkey which bypasses our need for permission from the Turks. I know about it because I was stationed there for three years.

…Hint: There are no fighter Jets stationed at incirlik or anywhere else in Turkey.

    Who can figure this out?

IP, JR, you are both partially correct.

The real deal is that all fighter jets are there on a three to seven day basis, TDY. Most come from Aviano AB, Italy, and rotate on a schedule.

This, believe it or not, was at the insistence of the Turkish Government in the SOF agreement. This was brought on by the U-2 shoot down of Gary Powers. We brought the U-2’s into Turkey and based them there. Because of the international furor, the Turks needed a plausible way of saying they would no longer allow any fighter or spy planes to be stationed there, however, they were required by NATO to allow them on a non permanent basis.

So, they can take off from there, run their quick mission and fly back to Aviano.
