The number of people that have `applied for` benefits under the ACA. Of that number roughly 27,000 come from the federal exchange site, the balance from the various state exchanges. That `applied for` moniker is critical as well, for it represents all individuals who made it thru the process and are in the proceed to checkout queue. The actual number of people who have plunked down a deposit is far lower than this.

HealthCare.gov has performed even worse than expected. Fewer than 27,000 people selected a plan through the website, compared with roughly 79,000 who picked a plan through the 15 state-based insurance exchanges. Unofficial estimates leaked earlier this week suggested the federal website had done slightly better.

Another 396,000 people have been approved for Medicaid benefits, according to HHS.

That last number is also a nail in the ACA’s coffin. All of those individuals represent people who will not be paying into the ACA system. And there is something else in play here. An applicant for qualified subsidy must be in the band greater than 130% and less than 400% of the federal poverty level. There are multiple States that have decided not to expand their Medicaid benefits as was outlined in the ACA but subsequently struck down by SCOTUS. So an individual below that would not get any relief in many
States. A person who be nuts to stay in Texas when California beckons with full coverage under MediCal. (Sorry JR)

Now we have a GOPer preparing to offer a `If you like your plan, you can keep you plan` bill. Sounds nice on the surface. But it is just as flawed as ACA was. ACA forced insurance companies to cancel polices not meeting Liberal Scripture. Now a GOPer is trying to force insurance companies to offer coverage after people have been cancelled. Sorry but that is just as much interference as ACA is. Forcing someone to offer something is but the opposite side of the coin as forcing someone to buy something. Both are poison and anti-capitalist dogma.

The People need relief but it won’t come from the government.

You know it would be interesting to determine when contracts were let to build the ObamaCare website. Something in my gut says that HHS did not get serious till after SCOTUS struck down the Medicaid mandate. The thought being that HHS would dump this all on the States from the git go, but got caught in a development of their own doing.

I see a major crisis occurring very soon. Folks have cancelled plans and will never get through for insurance or just can’t afford it. Millions more with health emergencies and no insurance at all. Panic city and lots of dead people who won’t know what to do if they get real sick. Just in time for flu season. Am I alone on this thinking?

Heard today that the plan is that YOUR doctor/hospital will be picked for you. You wont have a choice.

Bonus points, real fun will be later NEXT year when COMPANIES will be dumping their employees. Right now, it is the INDIVIDUAL policies that are being dumped.

MIC – you are right. When individuals are seeing loved ones dying due to these people – people are going to lose it. Just biding my time.

Assuming the meeting was in New York, I would have had the NY Jets Flight Crew (aka cheerleaders) at the meeting. That would have increased attendance.

Speaking of sexy and scantily-clad women, a friend from Dallas just sent me the 2014 Twin Peaks calendar. We don’t have anything like that in the Detroit area (except Hooters).

I signed up for ObamaCare just two short weeks ago and it was so easy. I got through the whole application and approval process through that
wonderful new web site and in less than 5 minutes on my very first try. And the results are fantastic! My acne has cleared up, all the grey has
disappeared from my hair, I’ve lost 2 inches from my waist and I can now read the fine print at the very bottom right on the eye chart – “Made
in China”. I feel at least 25 years younger already.
    Thank you, President Obama!!!

    Sigy –

Glad ObamaCare has worked out so well for you.

Has it also improved your ability to pick winners in college and NFL football games?

Wait till Sigy books his next flight. The free proctology exam can be quite extensive. “Snap” as the TSA smiles….. 🙂
