This just in from the Ministry of Truth! – February 27, 2014 Edition

2014 February 27
by justrand

The Ministry of Propping Up Lord Poobah (PULP) today announced that for the week ending February 21 initial claims for state unemployment benefits rose 14,000 from 334,000 to 348,000.  So the number rose…but HOW did it rise???

The A/P explains in their headline:

Weekly applications for US unemployment benefits rise modestly to 348,000

Coquettishly almost.

The eunuchs reporters at the A/P then remind us that this is “a sign companies are laying off few workers“.  Had the number gone down or stayed the same it would also have been “a sign companies are laying off few workers“.

In fact, it turns out that when that asteroid that was supposed to slide past the Earth just up and disappeared…THAT was “a sign companies are laying off few workers“.

Signs, signs, everywhere a sign…

But why did the number rise, even “modestly”?  Since you, the Great Unwashed, are not permitted to “recall”, we here at the MoT will recall for you.  Over the last two weeks the Obama mouthpieces ace reporters at the various whorehouses media outlets have indicated the rise in the Weekly Unemployment numbers was due to winter storms!!   THIS week, our comrades at the A/P tell us that

Economists said that winter storms two weeks ago may have caused some people to delay submitting their applications until this week, temporarily boosting the figures.”

If you do not unconditionally accept that the figures rose for two weeks because people were submitting claims THEN due the storms, and now they have risen  because people were NOT submitting claims then…but rather, delaying them until NOW…then that is still more proof that you are not a “leading economist”.

One other thing that you MUST “unconditionally accept” (because it is the Truth! ™ ) is that we remain at war with EastAsia Eurasia EastAsia Eurasia EastAsia Eurasia, whom we have always been at war with.

This week’s Public Service Announcement

Last week, Allen’s messenger here on Earth, Lord Obama (duh!),  used his red magic-marker to draw a line that Vladimir Putin was warned not to even THINK about approaching…let alone crossing…regarding the Ukraine.

Vladimir took heed of the line, and has gone out of his way to not even LOOK at the “red-line”.

There has been a weird series of coincidences, which some “haters” choose to pretend means Vladimir does NOT respect Lord Obama…and his red line (a portion of which is shown here==>)  ___________________

Some of these utterly unrelated coincidental things, which are just that:

– Russian air force put on alert near Ukrainian border

– Russian forces move near Ukrainian border for “war games”

– “Someone” seized the regional government headquarters and parliament in Ukraine’s Crimea and raised the Russian flag

– the former Russian puppet beloved ruler of the Ukraine is vacationing in Moscow

And so on.  ALL coincidences, as Vladimir carefully avoids even glancing at that red line.  Praise and thanks be to Allen, for sending us Lord Obama, The Wise.   Take THAT, Vlad!

    Dear drdog,

Thank you for supporting the useless idiot esteemed Senator Tom Harkin in his struggle against the Koch Brothers fueled hate-monger, Marco Rubio.

Rubio’s so-called “credentials” (son of Cuban immigrants who fled the Castro regime, deep roots in the Cuban community in Florida, fluency in Spanish, etc) cannot possibly stand up to Tom Harkin’s grasp of the TRUE Cuba.

Harkin is from Iowa…which has the same number of letters as “Cuba”. Coincidence?? I think not! Also, the name “Harkin”is an anagram of the word: “Karnhi”…the ancient Cuban word for “Awesomeness” (the MoT has access to ancient Cuban texts unavailable to the Great Unwashed…so you’ll have to trust on this one)

We’re sure that Senator Tom “WTF” Harkin will prevail…with the support of loyal citizens like yourself. We thus award you TWO rat spleens (alas, there is a shortage of rat hindquarters…we blame Bush). Congrats!!

The sale of a” long gun” in another state is legal. They need to cross the border and sell at a gun show to a private individual. Going through a dealer isn’t needed if it’s a “casual sale”.

So IP, if I posted an ad in one of the local CT papers that I am buying ar-15’s is that legal? Or do I run afoul of the BATF?

Ads are legal, so are casual sales so far as the feds are concerned, but the state may have more restrictive regs. Ct has outlawed any new “assault rifle” sales, so the seller would need to cross state lines.

JR – this will have to do.

But I was expecting a little more.

The Reichstag fire was an arson attack on the Reichstag building in Berlin on 27 February 1933. The fire was used as evidence by the Nazis that the Communists were plotting against the German government and the event is seen as pivotal in the establishment of Nazi Germany.

    How about this instead?

A husband, wife and son (in majority) arise to a knock at the front door. Its the police. They don’t have a warrant but ask to enter. The husband and wife say no. The son says yes. Are the police allowed to enter?

Surprise! They certainly can now —

The surprising thing other than the 4th Amend just took another whack. The liberals on the court objected — Ginsburg, Sotomayor, Kagan. What’s worse. Had the parents not been at home and the son agreed the search could as well be conducted. Fact based on this ruling, an nonrelated person present in the home can consent to a search even over the objections of the home owners.

    Pick your friends wisely.

drdog – what amazed me was no arguments about ownership of the residence. My understanding was that the girl friend resided there and the guy was visiting. I could see them going in since she was the one who rented the unit.

But they still should have surrounded the unit and gotten a warrant before proceeding.

It is very troubling the direction we are going. It is going to blow up. Some guy is going to draw the line in the sand and one hell of a fire fight will happen. As militant as the police are getting, they better watch their back. One day they may find neighbors joining in on the shoot.

You know I have always said we are attacking the war on drugs the wrong way. We have swat teams bust thru the place are unannounced times in no knock raids. Most dangerous to everyone involved.

Any major metro areas know who both are the pushers and the major suppliers. The guys at the top are never caught as they isolate themselves from the street. So they end up with small fish. So rather than no knock raids that typically prove ineffective, why not —

    1) Get a warrant. Knock on the door. Wait. Enjoy the flushing sounds as evidence goes down the drain.
    2) Smile, enter and validate that the goods are gone.
    3) The lead investigator calls the top supplier providing the address and the perp who just flushed his inventory.
    4) Rinse and repeat as often as needed on the given perp. Hell just shout “Police, I have a warrant!” whether they have it or not.
    5) Eventually one of two things happen. a) The given perp does not get any more inventory. b) The Street offs the guy.

No this won’t stop drug use, no knocks won’t either. But this method eliminates the grievous possibility of error on the part of the cops. Besides that 2 officers can pull that off vs the squad of 12-15 associated with the usual SWAT/no-knocker.

    KH, 26,

This caught my eye from the article — “The officer fired several times, hitting Canipe once, Faris said.”

Lack of gun control, again. By several I assume 2-3 shots. If I was at the range shooting at a 10yd set, not being able to put a group in the 9 ring or better would be a bad day indeed.

IP, thanks for the sidebar on gun buys.

  29. 2014 February 27 8:23 pm

29 – Yeah that and the statement that it appears it was a proper shooting really chapped my ass, if you’re that afraid as a cop that you just start shooting at first sign of something worrisome, you shouldn’t be on the job, the job comes with some level risk, if you can’t accept that it’s not the job for you. Many LEO’s seem to have forgotten this in the last 20 odd years.

The Syrian military and its ally Hezbollah killed more than 170 Islamists from the Al Nusrah Front for the People of the Levant, al Qaeda’s branch in Syria, and the Islamic Front during an ambush in an area just outside of the capital of Damascus. “Saudis, Qataris, and Chechens” were among those killed, according to the government-owned news agency.
