Pool reports — those summaries of the president’s public appearances that go to the news media at large and are used in countless news stories — are filed by a rotating group of journalists whose work is intended to be free of content changes by the White House.

The pool journalists, however, must submit their reports to the White House press office, which distributes them via e-mail to hundreds of news organizations and others. The White House maintains the list of recipients.

Reporters have complained that the Obama White House exploits its role as distributor to demand changes in pool reports and that the press office has delayed or refused to distribute some reports until they are amended to officials’ satisfaction.

And so we wonder why the news is so slanted? Its approved and amended by the WH commissars. And the move by some journalists? —

But now, some journalists are sharing their White House reporting using Google Groups — the digital service that allows registered users to receive and send information within a closed circle. In an early test of the supplemental system, journalists shared pool information about President Obama’s trip to Chicago this month. The system has been used for “advisories,” such as where the pool is assembling, when another pool report will be issued or whether a correction is in the works.

Source

Now the interesting thing to watch is what will the White House do? Start taking credentials away from the pool reporters in the group? If that occurs pretty much a free press is over, what little is left of it.

But this represents another interesting development. Fact is the arrangements that the pool reporters are using with Google Groups is nothing short of a budding syndication scheme. If the team running this expand the service in other areas beyond White House reporting they have developed a direct threat to the NYT syndication platform.

Times they continue to change…

Another liberal lie falls — http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/10/14/world/middleeast/us-casualties-of-iraq-chemical-weapons.html?_r=0 — Sadam’s Iraq DID have chemical weapons. Army had been dismantling them ever since the Iraq war.

Funny NYT does not even reference their own part in distributing the leftist lies on their own pages. Not a single apology and I don’t expect one either. But what baffles me is why the Bush admin stayed quiet on this? You would expect this to be Live-at-Five kind of disclosure to shut up the Left? Anybody have any ideas?

    HOUSTON, we have a problem!

The city of Houston is trying to force pastors to send turn over transcripts of their sermons…so the city can see is any pastor is being critical of Houston’s gay mayor!

    WTF??????????????

Texans, please tell me the State of TEXAS is NOT going to allow this!

    They won’t.

But then the mayor is being stupid. All they have to do is SHOW UP to find out! Might just do some of them good to hear what is being said. Nor do all pastors have entire sermons as notes, so it would not do them any good anyway.

Let’s see. We have a fully staffed Embassy, and 350 troops there to protect them. We have several hundred advisors somewhere in Iraq. We have contract employees in and around the Green Zone.

So who will be on the last helicopter flight from the Green Zone or the last flight out of Baghdad Intl?

Oh wait. ISIS has an almost inexhaustible supply of ManPads to stop the air operations.

They could soon have a big supply of hostages for the public beheadings.

    #1:

And in true NYT fashion, we are reminded several times throughout the article the weapons found were “remnants of long-abandoned programs, built in close collaboration with the West.” (Bush still lied, people died…or something). Oh yes, and this, the money line:

“The discoveries of these chemical weapons did not support the government’s invasion rationale.

After the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Mr. Bush insisted that Mr. Hussein was hiding an active weapons of mass destruction program, in defiance of international will and at the world’s risk. United Nations inspectors said they could not find evidence for these claims.”

I’m thinking this is the Times’ version of an October surprise. They have nothing else at the moment, so let’s bring out the hackneyed “there were no weapons of mass destruction” claim and see if it sticks.

re:#1 – I was telling you folks about that for years (starting in the PP days) including all the under reported stories (when they did occur and they’re were quite a few), and anecdotes from my brother about it being “not uncommon” to come across such during route clearance and related ops and things he heard while based out of Taji. Funny that suddenly the NY Times now seems interested in these matters, they never wanted to mention any of it while it was happening.

Aces’ (actually Gabriel’s) post is dead on and the Times’s spin on this is typical BS meant to continue to try and re-write some of the history.

    —-
Unless your counting BIAP operations being affected as Baghdad falling then no it’s certainly not going to fall before the end of the week, too many Shiite militias and Iranian affiliates in town for that to likely happen very quickly, though I have no doubts ISIS and affiliated raids\bombing in and around the city are soon enough going to be reeking more havoc in the weeks ahead.

    Not getting off so cheaply.
” Technology workers have asked an appeals court not to approve a US$324.5 million settlement in Silicon Valley’s controversial employee hiring case, according to a document filed Tuesday.

The move by the plaintiffs puts them in alignment with an earlier decision by Judge Lucy Koh of the federal district court in San Jose to throw out the settlement on the grounds that it wouldn’t pay the workers enough. Attorneys for the defendants — Apple, Google, Adobe and Intel — subsequently appealed Koh’s decision. ”

30, I always thought the settlement valuation was too low. What the lawyers ought to be after is the sum of the quarterly earnings of all the companies for the time duration of the infraction. That should be a couple of billion at least. Then negotiate down from there.
