ObamaCare = 87% Subsidies & More Part-Time Jobs

ObamaCare continues to have a devastatingly negative impact on the nation.

We knew that a large percentage of ObamaCare enrollees would be receiving subsidies … but 87 percent?

Also, in 2015 ObamaCare will affect more businesses, particularly small businesses. The best way for business owners to avoid the high cost of ObamaCare? Simple, hire more contractors and part-time employees that will be working less than 30 hours. So, for many Americans it means stringing together two or more part-time jobs with few benefits.

My daughter works retail part-time while attending college (and is covered by her mother’s health insurance) but she has friends who are working two to three jobs to make ends meet. These days most retailers schedule employees on four-hour shifts and make sure they don’t rack up enough four-hour shifts to be considered full-time. Someone may work 8AM to noon at CVS and 5 PM – 9PM at the GAP. Retailers typically have employees “on call” so they can use them only when they need them. It makes for a truly wonderful life.

87% of ObamaCare Enrollees Receive Subsidies

From HHS:

A report released by the Department of Health and Human Services today provides the first detailed analysis of enrollment in the Marketplaces for the first month of the 2015 open enrollment period. About 87 percent of people who selected health insurance plans through HealthCare.gov for coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2015 were determined eligible for financial assistance to lower their monthly premiums, compared to 80 percent of enrollees who selected plans over a similar period last year. In addition, more than 4 million people in both the state and federal Marketplaces signed up for the first time or reenrolled in coverage for 2015 during the first month of open enrollment. That includes more than 3.4 million people who selected a plan in the 37 states that are using the HealthCare.gov platform for 2015, and more than 600,000 consumers who selected plans in the 14 states that are operating their own Marketplace platform for 2015.

More Companies Opt for Part-Time Employees

Some businesses use part-time to meet health law.

Businesses in low-wage sectors, such as restaurants, retail and warehousing, are feeling bigger effects because health insurance represents an outsize share of their total employee costs, says Rob Wilson, head of Employco, a human resources outsourcing firm. Many of those with just fewer than 100 staffers have hired more part-timers in recent months, while those with at least 100 are reducing the hours of existing employees, he says.

Michelle Neblett, senior director of labor and workforce policy for the National Restaurant Association, says many restaurants are being more cautious about boosting the workweek of part-timers to 30 hours or more, doling out such increases to reward top performers.

Those strategies have not had a noticeable impact on the labor market. Monthly job growth has averaged 240,000 this year, up from 194,000 in 2013. And full-time employment has increased at about twice the rate of part-time payrolls, Labor Department figures show.

Still, the number of part-time workers who say they’d prefer full-time jobs has remained stubbornly high. That can at least partly be traced to the inclination of the restaurant, retail and hotel industries to hire more part-time workers to sidestep the ACA mandate, Royal Bank of Scotland wrote in a recent report.

So, in essence, we are screwing up the lives of tens of millions of productive citizens so life-long welfare recipients can receive highly subsidized healthcare.

From Allen B West’s website. “You be racists!”

Sad that people can not and will not face up to the facts.

Welcome to part time nation. We have known this has been coming.

What I have not seen is a study on the stunting affects that Obamacare has created. When few if any can acquire a full time position, that reduces household formation. That reduction impacts real estate purchases, makes raising the next generation a risky proposition, and nearly eliminates capital formation in the members of the household.

Right you are. Part-time workers are counted the same as full-time workers by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, so if a McDonald’s replaces 30 full-time workers with 40 part-time workers, Obama gets credit for creating 10 jobs and people like my daughter’s friends are double counted.

    “Figures lie and liars figure.”

Obama has given a whole new meaning to that old saying.

“Now there are those who still insist that they are beyond the reach of the police state because they have done nothing wrong and have nothing to fear. To those sanctimonious few, secure in their delusions, let this be a warning: the danger posed by the American police state applies equally to all of us: lawbreaker and law abider alike, black and white, rich and poor, liberal and conservative, blue collar and white collar, and any other distinction you’d care to trot out.

The lesson of 2014 is simply this: in a police state, you’re either a cop or you’re one of the little people. Right now, we are the little people, the servants, the serfs, the grunts who must obey without question or suffer the consequences.

If there is to be any hope in 2015 for restoring our freedoms and reclaiming our runaway government, we will have to start by breathing life into those three powerful words that set the tone for everything that follows in the Constitution: “we the people.”

It’s time to stop waiting patiently for change to happen and, as Gandhi once advised, be the change you want to see in the world.

Get mad, get outraged, get off your duff and get out of your house, get in the streets, get in people’s faces, get down to your local city council, get over to your local school board, get your thoughts down on paper, get your objections plastered on protest signs, get your neighbors, friends and family to join their voices to yours, get your representatives to pay attention to your grievances, get your kids to know their rights, get your local police to march in lockstep with the Constitution, get your media to act as watchdogs for the people and not lapdogs for the corporate state, get your act together, and get your house in order.

In other words, get moving. Time is growing short, and the police state is closing in.”

Obamacare: Failing exactly as planned……..given it is government robbery and coercion at its finest, this is to be expected!

It works great of course at increasing government power and enriching fascist special interest groups (unions and corporations)……

Of course, government is a failure at all things……especially “protecting” you:

“I would like to proceed with a simple examination of the success (or not) of the various US Federal cabinet departments toward their stated missions. I will do this by selecting for examination one or two appropriate measures for each department.

NB: Keep in mind, the success is relative to the mission statement, not based on my views of either the Constitution or libertarian theory……..

    Department of Defense:

The mission of the Department of Defense is to provide the military forces needed to deter war and to protect the security of our country.

There are fourteen major military operations listed for the United States since World War II. Other than the 1991 Gulf War, the rest might – at best – be considered dubious victories; more often, embarrassing defeats.

A success rate of 7% would qualify as horrendous. Weighting the conflicts for cost and lives destroyed, I suspect the success rate would be lower than 1%. Is there a category below horrendous?”

Surprise! Government is GREAT at one thing: putting people in prison for “violating” their various imperial edicts!

    “Practically Perfect

    Department of Justice:

To enforce the law and defend the interests of the United States according to the law; to ensure public safety against threats foreign and domestic; to provide federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime; to seek just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior; and to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans.

For 2012, the US Department of Justice reported a 97% conviction rate. In an environment defined by mediocrity at best, and failure most often, this is exemplary performance.

I wonder how they do it.

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?
Did you guess which thing just doesn’t belong?
If you guessed this one is not like the others,
    Then you’re absolutely…right!”
