The Beast of Hollow Mountain

A review of public polling, extensive interviews with a host of his supporters in two states and a new private survey that tracks voting records all point to the conclusion that Mr. Trump has built a broad, demographically and ideologically diverse coalition, constructed around personality, not substance, that bridges demographic and political divides. In doing so, he has effectively insulated himself from the consequences of startling statements that might instantly doom rival candidates.

In poll after poll of Republicans, Mr. Trump leads among women, despite having used terms like “fat pigs” and “disgusting animals” to denigrate some of them. He leads among evangelical Christians, despite saying he had never had a reason to ask God for forgiveness. He leads among moderates and college-educated voters, despite a populist and anti-immigrant message thought to resonate most with conservatives and less-affluent voters. He leads among the most frequent, likely voters, even though his appeal is greatest among those with little history of voting. . . .

His support is not tethered to a single issue or sentiment: immigration, economic anxiety or an anti-establishment mood. Those factors may have created conditions for his candidacy to thrive, but his personality, celebrity and boldness, not merely his populism and policy stances, have let him take advantage of them.

Tellingly, when asked to explain support for Mr. Trump in their own words, voters of varying backgrounds used much the same language, calling him “ballsy” and saying they admired that he “tells it like it is” and relished how he “isn’t politically correct.”

Trumpism, the data and interviews suggest, is an attitude, not an ideology.

Source

Sounds that Trump has a cross ideology coalition of Liberal, Moderate & Conservatives voters who a so ticked off neither party has a Corbomite^ bomb of political persuasion capable of derailing him. The only thing that is going to stop him are the voters, in the primaries.

On the Democratic side, Clinton is imploding, unlikely to survive. The DNC alternates? Biden, O’Malley and Warren. Does not invoke great confidence on their side. That and Trump is pulling Libs as well

The GOPers? Their position is not any better with Trump. Trump’s veiled alternative of 3rd party run has forced the GOP to keep their powder dry — for now. The question the GOP inner circle have to consider that this is a soul searching moment. Do they heel to what they have said they are for for years or continue with the lies. If they choose the latter course its lights out for the GOP. Their position is that tenous.

Oh, and a Biden presidency? LOL He’d have to pick a bigger dumb ass than he is to be his VP, and I’m not sure one exists.

    3,

A rise in price. It will take a few of the TBTFs to take some positions but it just takes the computers be told a buy spread is available.

Now if one wants a juicy conspiracy here’s a good one — http://freebeacon.com/issues/soros-buys-coal-stock-amid-obama-climate-crackdown/ — Is Obama’s coal policy designed to enrich Soros or is Soros just an opportunist? Several years ago Chesapeake was trading at $90/share. Now its bouncing around the $4 mark and Soros has bought a huge stake in the company.

Breitbart FB page is bringing out all the cheerful commenters who are a little too excited over today’s early crash. Yay! We were right! Told you so! Oy. Yeah, so we all knew something like this was coming, but still…I guess their glee is rubbing me the wrong way.

The American political mood — “Well I don’t have to survey any motherf@ckers to know how the professional political class has done it is apparent in EVERY F@CKING CORNER OF OUR ONCE GREAT NATION.

Let’s roll the dice on one of those motherf@cmkers again…its been working out so F@CKING well so far.”

Sorry for it being so crass, but it gets the point across. Oh and yeah, its from Instapundit. The Trumpers are ravaging the GOPers one moar time.

I agree with the fact that our political class is an utter failure (though, if they were trying to destroy our country, were they really failing?).

    were they really failing?
    ————————–
yes, no. No, they are being too successful. Yes, because what they don’t understand is that given the downward trend they have no guarantee to have their hands on the levers of power. The more desperate the electorate becomes the more likely that Trumps will be there to upset the apple cart.

In that vein here is an erstwhile article worth everyone’s attention — http://bit.ly/1EdcMSZ — and do follow the links. It ties it all together in a nice package as to what the GOPe was attempting to do to get Jeb elected. Suffice it to say, it was not a ‘best man wins’ strategy.

Unfortunately, the majority of the political class – like 95% majority – doesn’t give a damn about the future of the country. Priority #1 is staying in office so they can keep riding the gravy train. Priority #2 is making connections (selling out to lobbyists) so they can make a good income if the voters kick them out.

Have not seen any on that issue.

You won’t like my view —

    * We have term limits now. Only the voters won’t exercise the option.
    * This makes DC staffers more powerful. They continue to hang around making deals while we have a revolving door of representation. Any term limits deal would also have to apply to congressional staffers.
    * It diminishes the power of Congress vs the other two branches.

#19 That’s really one of only a few ways he can lose me, so I’m praying he stands firm. Is Islam violent? I don’t know…ask Pamela Gellar how she likes her death threats. Are they “peaceful” threats?

drdog – IF Walker has a set, he would tell CAIR “what difference does it make, you are not going to vote for me any way”. If he said that, he would endear himself with Conservatives who KNOW Islam is a lie. Sooner or later the West and Islam are going to reach critical mass. Time is running out based on Biblical Time Frames.

    22,

Have not decided to seek redress yet? I would be finding the snarlist, ugliest, most costly lawyer I could find. Typical case of malfeasance. ‘Best intelligence’, like hell. A $50 says they went on the prior search warrant and data to be used to execute this one. The person who should be held accountable is the judge. Bet he is a rubber stamper.

” A $50 says they went on the prior search warrant and data to be used to execute this one”

Bingo. Absolute BS that they claim the individual they wanted had been in the apartment in recent days, sound like he’d not lived there for many months.

“”What I was talking about was the specific case of fraud being committed where there’s organized efforts — and frankly it’s more related to Asian people coming into our country, having children in that organized effort, taking advantage of a noble concept with birthright citizenship,” Bush said.”

Yeah that’s the problem… last time I checked we were not being invaded by Asians (not that it’s not an issue too), unless of course by Asian he meant Muslims.

    26,

Factor I never considered. Trump probably knows most of the money men in the GOP since he runs in the same circles. Depending on his skill he could end run the RNC and dry up the monies for Jeb. Essentially pull the same game that Hillary did on the Dim side.
