GOP Senate Hopefuls Aligning with Trump

In 2016 Donald Trump won the presidency by running a very unconventional campaign. He constantly defied the political experts and built a core following that became tremendously loyal to him. Trump’s popularity with rank-and-file Republicans is  far greater than it is with establishment Republicans and the nation as a whole. People who typically vote in primary elections strongly support him.

Realizing this support many Republican candidates are claiming to be strongly pro-Trump. The key is to determine which are really pro-Trump and which will be eaasily co-opted and become Mitch McConnell’s BFFs upon their arrival in the Nation’s Capitol.

GOP Senate candidates across the country are battling to emerge as the pro-Trump candidate in contested primaries.

President Trump’s approval rating might be stagnant nationally, but he still enjoys strong support with many of the GOP primary voters who will decide crucial Senate primaries ahead of the 2018 midterm election.

So GOP candidates in states that Trump carried in November are beginning to hammer their opponents as unfaithful supporters of the president to gain an edge in their primaries.

One clear example of this trend is in Indiana, where fellow Indiana Republican congressmen Luke Messer and Todd Rokita are poised to clash in what’s already become a nasty primary. Messer jumped into the race this week, with Rokita all but assured to follow.

Rex Early and Tony Samuel, who served as the top leadership on Trump’s Indiana campaign operation, penned a letter on Thursday hailing Rokita as a loyal Trump supporter throughout the election. While the men wrote the letter in their personal capacity — the dormant Trump campaign hasn’t weighed in — the letter was clearly meant to give Rokita room to claim the pro-Trump mantle.

“Of the members of Indiana’s congressional delegation, Todd Rokita is the only one that actively and specifically campaigned for candidate Trump — never wavering and never jumping on and off the Trump Train,” they wrote.

Rokita’s campaign manager, Bryan Reed, took the issue further in his own statement that noted The Hill’s reporting that in April 2016, Messer floated the possibility that a white knight candidate could emerge if no candidate won the majority of GOP convention delegates.

“Despite his efforts to fool Hoosier Republicans and cozy up to President Trump now, what is very clear is that Messer was less than enthusiastic, and even openly critical of Donald Trump even as he ran against Crooked Hillary, the media establishment and the beltway elite,” Reed said.

It will be hard for the GOP to lose the senate in 2018. 33 seats are up for grabs. 23 are Democrats and tere are two independents who vote with the Democrats. Of the Republicans, there are plenty of RINOs – Flake, Corker, Wicker, Heller and Hatch.

Here are the seats that will be voted upon:,_2018

It will be interesting to see who on both sides run in the states of PA, IN, OH, WV. They were key to Trump’s MidWest strategy. If they fall to Trumpers McConnell will be kissing a ring at the WH.

Heritage Action Scores for Republicans Seeking Reelection

    Cruz: 94
    Flake: 67
    Fischer: 64
    Heller: 55
    Barrasso: 54
    Wicker: 52
    Corker: 50
    Hatch: 33

This shows how bad the Senate Republicans are. With the exception of Cruz, Flake scores higher than any of the others running
(except on immigration, of course). And that’s a big exception.

Probably is the more likely scenario based on history. But keep in mind it only takes 6-8 currently to hang the Senate into doing nothing. A Trump aligned minority could thwart anything that McConnell would want to advance.

there could be 99 GOP Senators…and Mitch McConnell would STILL whine about not being able to get things done.

McCain deliberately sabotaged the Repeal vote…and told the Dems in advance he was going to do so!

The media not only doesn’t report, but tries to bury any Democrat’s scandals. Imagine if Fast and Furious had occurred in a Republican administration. It would have been reported as bigger than Watergate (which it actually is).

You write a check but leave the amount blank so your wife can pay off a balance when she gets to the merchant. Under the proposed S.B. 1241 doing so will be considered grounds for arrest — — Oh and it by adjunct makes possession of over $10,000 in cash illegal. Read it, down right scary.

Hillary phoned the President’s office shortly after midnight. “I need to talk to President Trump, it’s an emergency!”, exclaimed Hillary.
After some cajoling, the President’s assistant agreed to wake him up. “So, what is it that’s so important that it can’t wait until morning?”, grumbled Trump.
“Supreme Court Judge Ginsburg just died, and I would like to take her place.”, begged Hillary.

“Well, it’s alright with me, if it’s OK with the funeral home.”, replied President Trump.

Decisions … decisions Kid Rock or Lena Epstein for Michigan GOP Senate nomination:

Lena Epstein, co-chairman of Republican Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in Michigan, announced Monday that she will take on U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow in the 2018 elections.
“Politicians have failed us and Michigan citizens are looking for another way,” Epstein said. “They’re saying loud and clear, we want an outsider with business leadership skills.”

Epstein, 35, a Republican and a resident of Bloomfield Hills, has never run for political office and is not well known outside of GOP political circles. She is the general manager of the family business, Southfield-based Vesco Oil, a distributor of automotive and industrial lubricants with more than 200 employees and annual revenue exceeding $175 million.

the GOP sabotaging Trump’s Presidency is exactly getting revenge on someone by tying them up, throwing them in the trunk of your car…and then personally driving that car over a 1,000 foot cliff, all the way down shouting: “Take THAT!!

That is already in the works — here, here & here.

This one is going to take a while though. Its complex and will take crypto specialists to define all the information flows from whom, to whom. But the whole Awan affair has potential national security implications and if so won’t be able to be buried by the Democrats.
